Desenvolvimento de mudas de palmeira-ráfia cultivada sob diferentes sombreamentos e nutrição foliar | Growth of Seedlings of Lady Palm Cultivated Under Different Shades and Foliar Fertilizer

The palm Rhapis excelsa is an ornamental plant with commercial value. It demands, in its initial stage, the protected cultivation under special structures and being adapted in different species. Proper lighting balanced with fertilizers/nutrients are very important for the development of plants in high tech agriculture. Not only the amount of lighting but also the quality of lighting reaching the plants shall be considered in order to increase production. In the experiment described in this paper, it was used a technology that uses colored screens providing shadow and filtering specific light wavelength. It happens the lack of information regarding mineral nutrition for the growth of this specie. This experimental work was carried out at the Federal university of Lavras, Lavras, MG., with the main goal of evaluating growth parameters, anatomy differences and nutrient contents in seedlings of palm Rhapis excelsa, cultivated under different conditions of screening and different foliar fertilizers. The plants used in this experiment were cultivated in recipients having substrate, organic matter and sand (1:1:1), with the addition of 10 g of fertilizer by liter of substrate. These plants were four years old approximately. Series of measurements about the increase of height and number of leaves were taken at 30, 75, 105, 135 and 195 days since the beginning of the experiment. It was also observed the number and height of seedlings, width from leaflets, nutrient contents, anatomy characteristics, as well as the final plant height at 195 days. The different types of screening did not affect significantly the final height of the plants not even in the valuations of height increase at 135 and 195 days of age, nevertheless the screening affected significantly the abaxial epidermis, number of stomata and their polar and equatorial diameter. In conclusion, the growth of palm Rhapis was not affected by screening.

A palmeira ráfia, Rhapis excelsa, é uma planta ornamental de valor comercial que exige, em sua fase inicial, cultivo protegido, havendo assim a possibilidade de cultivo sob estruturas especiais, podendo ser adaptado a diversas espécies. A luz e adubação são fatores cruciais no desenvolvimento, para uma agricultura com alta tecnologia. Além da quantidade de luz, a qualidade de luz incidente às plantas produz rendimentos significativos na produção. Uma nova tecnologia com malhas sombreadoras coloridas, que deixam incidir um comprimento de luz específico, está sendo introduzida em cultivos comerciais. Ocorre ainda uma deficiência de informações sobre a nutrição mineral para o cultivo dessa espécie. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido na Universidade de Lavras, Lavras, MG, e teve como objetivo avaliar parâmetros de crescimento, as diferenças anatômicas e os teores de nutrientes em mudas de palmeira-ráfia, cultivadas sob diferentes tipos de malhas e com diferentes adubações foliares. Utilizaram-se plantas com aproximadamente 4 anos, em vaso com substrato terra, areia e esterco (1:1:1), acrescido de 10 g de superfosfato simples por litro de substrato. Determinou-se o incremento em altura e número de folhas aos 30, 75, 105, 135 e 195 dias. Foi determinado também o número e altura dos brotos, largura do folíolo, teores de nutrientes, características anatômicas e altura final das plantas aos 195 dias. Em relação à adubação foliar, embora fossem observadas pequenas diferenças em ralação aos teores de nutrientes, não foi observado efeito sobre o crescimento das mudas. As malhas não exerceram efeitos significativos na altura final de plantas, nem nas avaliações de incremento de altura aos 135 e 195 dias, entretanto anatomicamente exerceram efeitos significativos sobre a epiderme abaxial, número de estômatos e seus diâmetros polar e equatorial. Apesar dessas alterações anatômicas, pode-se concluir que não houve efeito dos diferentes tipos de malhas utilizadas para o cultivo, no crescimento de mudas de Rhapis, concluindo que as malhas e adubações não influenciaram o crescimento de Rhapis.
