BREEDING OF TOMATO (LYCOPERSICON ESCULENTUM) RESISTANT TO TOMATO SPOTTED WILT VIRUS

The results of tomato lines resistance test to tomato spotted wilt virus and its comparison to molecular marker SCAR Sw421 genotyping data is shown. A molecular marker SCAR Sw421 analysis allowed identifying homozygous and heterozygous tomato genotypes possessing Sw5 alleles in segregating populations. Selected tomato lines possessing dominant homozygous alleles of Sw5 gene represent a tomato germplasm resistant to tomato spotted wilt virus and would be useful for following crop improvement.

Selenium accumulation level in basil plants is investigated. A direct correlation between selenium concentration and essential oil content is demonstrated for basil and other aroma plants. No correlation is found between selenium and flavonoids.

Experimental data of two years study of the factors that influence on the plant sex of «zucchini» aimed at rais ing the level of hybridity for industrial hybrid seed pro duction are shown. Seeds vernalization and treatment by preparations containing 2 chloroethylphosphonic acid were used to increase the number of female flow ers on the parent plants. The exposure to silver nitrate and gibberellin on the paternal lines increased the number of male flowers.

Data of bioenergetic assessment of two strains of oyster mushroom in conditions of basement with different light intensity were obtained. The energy for the product development and the energy accumulated by the economically valuable part of yield were evaluated. The high ratio of the bioenergetic efficiency (up to 2,42) was revealed for the strain НК-35 when the day-light lamps at 600-800 lux of intensity were used.

The influence of the state of water in plant tissue on the physico- chemical properties of plant products and processes occurring in it was studied. It is shown that the ratio of free and bound water fractions in the tissue influences the mass loss of plant products during storage. The ratio between free and bound water in the plant tissue depends on the activity of physiological processes in it, which determines the intensity of the loss of nutrients.
