Use of the growth chambers for cabbage breeding allows the reducing of certain stages of the breeding process and the growing biennial varieties of cabbage in a one-year cycle. In these growth chambers, the nutritional conditions, temperature, and lighting of plants are under control; the open pollination is eliminated.

The effect of pre-sowing treatment by extract of seeds-donor of different concentrations on germination, seedling vigor, and yield of tomato was shown. The seeds of different varieties of winter wheat, barley, oats, alfalfa, soybean, and maize were used as a seedsdonor of biologically active substances. It was found that these substances increased the seed germination and improved the seed vigor, plant development and product quality. This technology can be considered as a source of increasing in labour productivity and seed production.

There is collaboration between VNIISSOK and Mongolian Ministry of Agriculture in field of vegetable growing and seed production supported by the Swiss Agency of development and cooperation (SDC). Based on the preliminary results of variety trials, Mongolian researchers and breeders have found the promising cultivars of vegetable crops of VNIISSOK breeding suitable for growing in condition of Mongolia.

The role of plant extracts in the process of induction of embryogenic structures and its following development in plants is revealed. Thus, the addition in the culture medium of the extracts diluted in DMSO increases the rate of gynoand androgenesis on 2.4% as compared with control. Experimentally proved that the plant extract derived from the reproductive organs of certain genotype increases the morphogenetic potential of isolated organs only of the same genotype.

The data of spring-summer sowing time of vegetable root crops of the family Brassicaceae in the open filed are presented. Five varieties and three hybrids of daikon, seven varieties of radish, and four varieties of turnip were tested. Based on the results, the minimal and maximal root weight for each time of sowing were determined; average fresh weight of vegetable roots for three years of investigation was accounted.

Hormonal regulation is considered to be a unique mechanism controlling growth and development of living organism. The review discusses the correlations between pant hormonal status of non-accumulators and hyper-accumulators of Se with the accumulation levels of this microelement. The phenomenon of stimulation and redistribution of selenium as a result of phytohormone treatment, the peculiarities of phytohormones effect among different species and cultivars, and influence of plant sexualization on selenium accumulation are described in article. Data of hormonal regulation of selenium level for spinach, garlic, perennial onion, Brassica chinenesis and Valeriana officialis are presented in the review.

The field experiment has revealed that application of green manure and mulching of seedlings by organic matters and zeolite-containing clay increases the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and improves agro-physical parameters of soil. As consequence the yield of red beet has increased up to 14-34%, the root weight has increased up to 11-16 g, and the standard output has increased up to 3-7%. The improvement of biochemical and phytosanitary quality of roots was revealed.
