A PRELIMINARY SURVEY OF THE HOVERFLIES INSECTS (SYRPHIDAE, DIPTERA) IN DEIR-EZZOR, EASTERN SYRIA FAUNISTICS STUDY
2007
M Idraw
The hoverflies insect species are considered the most economic pollinators of various flowers, the adult visitors feed on nectar and pollen. Many of syrphid survivors are voracious aphid feeders in their larval instars and are considered greatest bio-control agent. They are beneficial insects when estimating the damage of pest control is consid-ered. In spite of their great economic importance, no progress has been estimated on taxonomy and biology of these insects in Syria. A surveillance studies of such flies were carried out in three loca-tions (Agroecosystems) in Deir-Ezzor, Eastern Syria during March-July 2006, based on number of captured adults. Yellow dish traps were used, and 12 spieces were identified and counted. This study will be an applicable addition to the availa-ble knowledge about the Syrian fauna.

2013
Hafeez R. Habeeb
This study was conducted to revise the taxonomic identity and clarify specific relationships among the studied Triticum species in Egypt. The studied species included; T. dicoccum (Schrank) Schubl.; T. dicoccoides (Koren ex Asch. & Graebn.) Aaron Sohn. T. tugidum L.; T. durum Desf.; T. pyramidale (Delile ex Schult.) Percival and T. aestivum L. Moreover, the wild Emmer Wheat T. dicoccoides (Koren ex Asch. & Graebn.) Aaron Sohn was recently found in Egypt as a new record. The genus Triticum L. includes 14 species, all of them are cultivated for food except the wild Emmer.

2005
H. Mohamed Sonya, | Saleh E.A. | Zaki M.M.
A numerical method was suggested for the identification of eight local halotolerant streptomycete isolates. Cultural, morphological, physiological and antagonistic characteristics of those isolates were determined. Arbitrary scoring of these characters for the eight unknown isolates and those of the more related known Streptomyces species in the keyof Pridham and Tresner (1974) was given and resulted 58 characteristic units. The degree of similarity was determined using the Dice coefficient method and clustering was achieved using the unweighted pair group method average (UPGMA) algorithm. Using this numerical method, six out of the eight Streptomyces isolates, i.e., ST08, ST09, ST11, ST13, ST14 and ST15 were identified as S. longisporus, S. janthinus, S. griseochromogenes, S. antibioticus S. baarnensis and S. albolongus with 100, 95.8, 95.0, 92.8, 95.0 and 91.1%, respectively. Isolates ST10 and ST12 were duplicate of S. echinatus with similarities of 93.3 and 94.6%, respectively. Application of the suggested numerical taxonomy on the 14 known Streptomyces species revealed that these species fell into three major clusters based on their color of aerial mycelia.
