Snail eggs as a raw material for the production of a caviar substitute
2020
Maćkowiak-Dryka Monika | Szkucik Krzysztof | Pyz-Łukasik Renata
Snail eggs can be the raw material for the production of a caviar substitute. The substitute varies from the original in caloric value and nutrient content which determine the nutritional value of every foodstuff. The present study aimed to determine and compare the nutritional value and protein quality of eggs from two subspecies of edible snail.

2020
Liu Jie | Yang Xiaoxia | Hao Xiaojing | Feng Yongsheng | Zhang Yuli | Cheng Ziqiang
Coinfection of goose parvovirus (GPV) and duck circovirus (DuCV) occurs commonly in field cases of short beak and dwarfism syndrome (SBDS). However, whether there is synergism between the two viruses in replication and pathogenicity remains undetermined.

2020
Jin Yeonhwa | Adamkowska Natalia | Kiełpińska Jolanta | Bergmann Sven Michael
The aim of the study was to determine the transmission potential of carp edema virus (CEV) and koi herpesvirus (KHV) introduced to Europe by the invasive round goby (Neogobius melanostomus).

2020
Hofsoe-Oppermann Paulina | Kiełpińska Jolanta | Panicz Remigiusz | Bergmann Sven M.
White sturgeon iridovirus (WSIV) disease is caused by a virus of the eponymous family and is mostly triggered by stressful environmental conditions, i.e. high rearing density, excessive handling, or temporary loss of water. The aim of this study was to develop the most effective diagnostic method for quick and efficient confirmation or exclusion of the presence of WSIV.

2020
Bingol Enver Baris | Hampikyan Hamparsun | Muratoglu Karlo | Akkaya Esra | Cetin Omer | Colak Hilal
Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile is a Gram+, anaerobic, spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium that can produce toxins, and it is mainly because its virulence is attributed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the presence of C. difficile and hyper virulent ribotypes in chicken carcasses and the antibiotic susceptibility of isolated strains.

2020
Patyra Ewelina | Kwiatek Krzysztof
A high-performance liquid chromatographic–diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) method for the determination of amoxicillin in medicated feedingstuffs was developed and validated. The method was used to investigate the quality requirements of animal feedingstuffs (declared content of active substance and feed homogeneity).

2020
Sokół Ireneusz | Tokarzewski Stanisław | Bobrek Kamila | Gaweł Andrzej
Candida species are a natural component of the intestinal tract microflora, but in favourable conditions they can cause superficial, mucosal, or even systemic candidiasis. Poultry production might be a source of human drug-resistant yeast infections, including Candida spp. The limited data concerning the antifungal susceptibility of poultry Candida isolates prompted us to carry out research to determine the susceptibility of isolates from turkey intestinal tracts.

2020
Yılmaz Osman | Soygüder Zafer | Keleş Ömer Faruk | Yaman Turan | Yener Zabit | Uyar Ahmet | Çakır Tahir
This study determined the presence of nitric oxide synthesis isoforms (nNOS, iNOS, and eNOS) in thoracic spinal cord segments and nodose ganglia of rats with gamma-irradiated livers.

2020
Goldsztejn Magdalena | Grenda Tomasz | Kozieł Nina | Sapała Magdalena | Mazur Małgorzata | Sieradzki Zbigniew | Król Beata | Kwiatek Krzysztof
Silage quality deteriorates with Clostridium spp. contamination, and if consumed, such silage jeopardises herd health and productivity. Minimising its occurrence reduces economic and animal welfare risks. The study investigated the influence of environmental and technological determinants on the Clostridium genus’ occurrence in silage.

2020
Zając Magdalena | Maluta Aleksandra | Wasyl Dariusz | Skarżyńska Magdalena | Lalak Anna | Samcik Ilona | Kwit Renata | Szulowski Krzysztof
The article describes the occurrence and phylogenetic relationship of Salmonella isolates found in subcutaneous abscesses of leopard geckos. The aim of the study was to determine the cause of the abscesses and to characterise isolated Salmonella strains.
