Поширеними бур’янами, що засмічують його посіви, є котяча м’ята справжня (Nepeta cataria L.) і мексиканський соняшник (Tithonia diversifolia L). У нашому дослідженні вивчали ріст, урожайність і склад деяких компонентів у рослинах джуту довгоплідного за умови присутності котячої м’яти справжньої і мексиканського соняшнику та в середовищі, вільному від бур’янів. Методи. Дослідження включало два скринінгових експерименти за повністю рендомізованою схемою в шести повтореннях. Схема досліду в експериментах була такою: 0 (контроль), 2, 4, 6, 8 і 10 бур’янів на ємність для вирощування. З урахуванням площі поверхні використаних ємностей, така кількість відповідала 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 і 500 бур’янам на 1 м2. Параметри росту джуту довгоплідного реєстрували щотижня з 5 до 8 тижня після сівби, а врожай збирали через 8 тижнів. Уміст деяких сполук у рослинах джуту оцінювали з використанням стандартних процедур, викладених Асоціацією офіційних сільськогосподарських хіміків. Отримані результати були оброблені із застосуванням методів дисперсійного аналізу (ANOVA). Результати. Котяча м’ята справжня й мексикан­ський соняшник за щільності від 100 рослин на квад­рат­ний метр набільш негативно впливали на морфологічні ха­рак­теристики джуту довгоплідного. Ці бур’яни, за щіль­нос­ті 100–500 рослин на квадратний метр, зумовлювали також зменшення сухої ваги джуту довгоплідного. За пев­них умов, мексиканський соняшник може також спри­чиняти зменшення вмісту сирого протеїну в джуті довгоплідному. Висновки. Для запобігання втрат урожаю рекомендується підтримувати чисельність рослин котячої м’яти справж­ньої та мексиканського соняшнику в посівах джуту дов­го­плідного меншою ніж 100 шт./м2.

Purpose. To estimate the ecological plasticity of common millet yield under conditions of Steppe, Forest-Steppe and Forest of Ukraine. Methods. Mathematical and statistical: determination of stability and plasticity by Eberhart & Russell method, correlation analysis. Results. As a result of correlation analysis of millet cultivated areas during the period of 2011?2020, it was revealed that cultivated areas in Ukraine depend on the world ones (r = 0.34). It was determined that a high level of common millet yield was obtained in the forest-steppe zone, namely in Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Sumy and Kharkiv regions (2.20?2.51 t/ha). Quite high rates of yield were obtained in Vinnytsia, Kyiv (Forest-Steppe zone) and Kirovohrad (Steppe zone) regions (1.86?2.02 t/ha). Low yield over 10 years was noted in Rivne, Zhytomyr and Volyn regions, which belong to the Forrest zone (1.09?1.34 t/ha). It is shown that during 2011?2015 high variability of millet yield was observed in Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia and Volyn regions. The coefficient of variation was 42.0?71.3%. During 2016?2020 significant variation was noted in Donetsk, Volyn and Odesa regions. The coefficient of variation was 31.8?43.9%. In the period from 2016 to 2020, high plasticity of the yield trait was noted in Vinnitsa, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Sumy and Khmelnitsky regions. During 2016?2020 high plasticity trait of millet yield was in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Poltava regions. Conclusions. According to the results of the studies, it was found that with a reduction in the area under millet in the world, the volume of its production in Ukraine increases. It was determined that the hig?hest yield of millet was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone during the years of observation. Purpose. To reveal the influence of the substrate compositions on technical indicators and the chemical composition of the fruiting bodies of the golden oyster mushroom and poplar mushroom.Methods. The experimental design included cultivation of two species of wood-decay fungi Pleurotus citrinopileatus Singer (strain 2161 IVK) and Cyclocybe aegerita (V.Brig.) Vizzini (strain 2230 IVK) on three variants of substrate composition. Laboratory, laboratory-production methods for evaluating the effectiveness of growing technology, chemical composition of the obtained raw materials, statistical methods of analysis were applied.Results. The structure and composition of substrates affect the technological characteristics of the culture, physical and chemical properties of fruiting bodies. The shortest fruiting cycle of 35.2 ? 1.7 days was determined for C. aegerita under growing conditions on SC1 substrate which formula included ?straw, husks, pellet, rapeseed, corn, and CaCO3? in the ratio of 30: 40: 70: 20: 20: 1. The highest yield (170.5 ? 15.2 g per 1 kg of substrate) in the experiment was determined for P. citrinopileatus on the SC1 substrate composed of ?straw / pellets? / rapeseed / corn /?CaCO3? in the ratio 40: 90: 20: 25: 1. Fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus obtained from the SC3 substrate composed of? ?pellets / rapeseed / corn / CaCO3? in the ratio 60: 110: 20: 30: 1 had the highest protein content ? 22.47 ? 0.19%, and fruiting bodies from the SC1 substrate had the least amount of proteins ? 17.38 ? 2.60%. Fruiting bodies of C.?aegerita contained more lipids than those of P. citrinopileatus, but the factor of the influence of the substrate composition on the total amount of lipids for some cultivars was insignificant. The largest amount of endopolysaccharides was isolated from the fruiting bodies of C. aegerita (6.81 ? 0.41%) cultivated on SC3 substrate, and the smallest in the SC1 variant (1.38 ? 0.25%). The content of endopolysaccharides in the fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus had less variability from 2.54 ? 0.54 (SC3) to 4.72 ? 0.61% (SC1).Conclusion. Substrate compositions significantly affect the biological efficiency of cultivars and the content of nutrients in fruiting bodies of the studied species. Vizzini (штам 2230 ІВК) на трьох варіантах субстратних композицій. Застосовано лабораторні, лабораторно-виробничі методи оцінки ефективності технології вирощування, хімічного складу отриманої сировини, статистичні методи аналізу. Результати. Структура та склад субстратів впливають на технологічні характеристики культури, фізичні та хімічні властивості плодових тіл. Найкоротший цикл плодоношення у 35,2 ± 1,7 доби визначено для культури C. aegerita за умов вирощування на субстраті СК1 з формулою «солома / лушпиння / гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 30 : 40 : 70 : 20 : 20 : 1. Найвищу врожайність (170,5 ± 15,2 г на 1 кг субстрату) у досліді визначено для P. citrinopileatus на субстраті СК2 з формулою «солома / гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 40 : 90 : 20 : 25 : 1. Плодові тіла P. citrinopileatus, отримані із субстрату СК3 з формулою «гранули / ріпак / кукурудза / крейда» у співвідношенні 60 : 110 : 20 : 30 : 1, мали найвищий у досліді вміст білків – 22,47 ± 0,19%, а найменшу кількість білків – 17,38 ± 2,60% – мали плодові тіла із субстрату СК1. Плодові тіла C. aegerita містили більше ліпідів порівняно з плодовими тілами P. citrinopileatus, але чинник впливу складу субстрату на загальну кількість ліпідів для деяких культиварів виявився несуттєвим. Найвищу кількість ендо­полісахаридів виділено з плодових тіл C. aegerita (6,81 ± 0,41%), отриманих із субстрату СК3, а найменшу – у варіанті СК1 (1,38 ± 0,25%). Уміст ендополісахаридів у плодових тілах P. citrinopileatus мав меншу варіативність: від 2,54 ± 0,54 (СК3) до 4,72 ± 0,61% (СК1). Висновки. Склад субстратних композицій суттєво впливає на біологічну ефективність культиварів та вміст нутрієнтів у плодових тілах досліджених видів. Отримані результати дають змогу грибівникам спрогнозувати ефективність виробництва та якість отриманих грибів відповідно до використання доступної сировини.

Purpose. To reveal the influence of the substrate compositions on technical indicators and the chemical composition of the fruiting bodies of the golden oyster mushroom and poplar mushroom. Methods. The experimental design included cultivation of two species of wood-decay fungi Pleurotus citrinopileatus Singer (strain 2161 IVK) and Cyclocybe aegerita (V.Brig.) Vizzini (strain 2230 IVK) on three variants of substrate composition. Laboratory, laboratory-production methods for evaluating the effectiveness of growing technology, chemical composition of the obtained raw materials, statistical methods of analysis were applied. Results. The structure and composition of substrates affect the technological characteristics of the culture, physical and chemical properties of fruiting bodies. The shortest fruiting cycle of 35.2 ± 1.7 days was determined for C. aegerita under growing conditions on SC1 substrate which formula included «straw, husks, pellet, rapeseed, corn, and CaCO3» in the ratio of 30: 40: 70: 20: 20: 1. The highest yield (170.5 ± 15.2 g per 1 kg of substrate) in the experiment was determined for P. citrinopileatus on the SC1 substrate composed of «straw / pellets  / rapeseed / corn / CaCO3» in the ratio 40: 90: 20: 25: 1. Fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus obtained from the SC3 substrate composed of  «pellets / rapeseed / corn / CaCO3» in the ratio 60: 110: 20: 30: 1 had the highest protein content – 22.47 ± 0.19%, and fruiting bodies from the SC1 substrate had the least amount of proteins – 17.38 ± 2.60%. Fruiting bodies of C. aegerita contained more lipids than those of P. citrinopileatus, but the factor of the influence of the substrate composition on the total amount of lipids for some cultivars was insignificant. The largest amount of endopolysaccharides was isolated from the fruiting bodies of C. aegerita (6.81 ± 0.41%) cultivated on SC3 substrate, and the smallest in the SC1 variant (1.38 ± 0.25%). The content of endopolysaccharides in the fruiting bodies of P. citrinopileatus had less variability from 2.54 ± 0.54 (SC3) to 4.72 ± 0.61% (SC1). Conclusion. Substrate compositions significantly affect the biological efficiency of cultivars and the content of nutrients in fruiting bodies of the studied species. The obtained results enable producers of mushrooms to predict the production efficiency and quality of grown mushrooms in accordance with the use of available raw materials. | Мета. Purpose. Investigate the formation and functioning of symbiotic systems of soybeans with nodule bacteria by ino?culation of seeds with biological products based on fungicide-resistant strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum PC07 and B78 with different rates of synthetic carmoisine colorant.Methods. Physiological, microbiological, gas chromatography, statistical.Results. It was found that as a result of inoculation of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr] variety ?Almaz? with microbial preparations based on B. japonicum PC07 and B78, with the addition of carmoisine (0.25 and 0.5 g per 200 g of the preparation), the amount and the weight of nodules formed on the roots during the growing season were at the level of the control plants or exceeded them. The greatest difference in indicators of quantity and weight of root nodules between plants of control and experimental variants is noted in a phase of full flowering at inoculation by both strains of rhizobia and addition to biological products of various norms of dye. Analysis of nitrogen-fixing activity (NFA) of the formed symbiotic systems showed the absence of a negative effect of the synthetic colorant on its level. When inoculated with soybean seeds B. japonicum PC07 in the phase of three true leaves, NFA was higher by 15.6?25.9% and in the budding-beginning of flowering stage by 7.4?29.5% compared with control plants with the addition of 0.25 and 0.5 g of carmoisine, respectively. Against the background of bacterization of soybean seeds by strain B78 before the phase of full flowering of plants the level of N2 assimilation by adding 0.25?g of carmoisine to the vermiculite preparation was at the level of the control plants. During the period of full flowering, this figure exceeded the indicators of control plants by 7.6 and 18.8% with the introduction of 0.25 and 0.5?g of the colorant.Conclusions. Carmoisine can be applied in the further study of the effectiveness of its use as a dye identifier for controlling the uniformity of marking of loose bacterial preparations on seeds by adding 0.25 and 0.5 g per 200 g of a biopreparation, since this did not show a negative impact on the formation and functioning of the soybean ? Мета. Обґрунтувати застосування коефіцієнта фенотипової стабільності Левіса (S.F.) для визначення стабільності прояву кількісних і господарсько-цінних ознак національних сортів батату (Ipomoea batatas L.).Методи. Польові дослідження з комплексної оцінки нових сортів батату здійснювали протягом 2021–2022 рр. в умовах Інституту овочівництва і баштанництва НААН (Харківська обл.). Проведено фенологічні спостереження та біометричні вимірювання рослин, а також фіксацію метеорологічних даних упродовж вегетації, зокрема в міжфазні періоди культури. Стабільність досліджуваних ознак визначали у спосіб пошуку граничних значень їх прояву (Xmax і Xmin) та подальшого розрахунку коефіцієнта фенотипової стабільності Левіса (SF).Результати. Застосування коефіцієнта фенотипової стабільності Левіса (SF) дало змогу визначити стабільність прояву морфологічних ознак сортів батату (Ipomoea batatas L.), зокрема кількісних характеристик бульб: їх чисельність під кущем для сорту ‘Адмірал’ – 5,3 шт., для ‘Слобожанський рубін’ – 3,7 шт.; середня маса бульби – 254 і 283 г відповідно. Ознака «індекс форми бульб батату» забезпечила стабільність із коефіцієнтом 0,98 (‘Адмірал’) і 1,03 (‘Слобожанський рубін’). Стабільність прояву морфологічних ознак бульб батату встановлено для поширених на території України сортів ‘Адмірал’ і ‘Слобожанський рубін’. Вони репрезентують дві групи стиглості, а тому різняться за тривалістю періоду формування бульб. Так, ранньостиглий ‘Адмірал’ має період вегетації 100–110 діб; середньостиглий ‘Слобожанський рубін’ – 110–120 діб.Висновки. Стабільнішою за шириною була кількісна ознака бульби батату сорту ‘Адмірал’; за довжиною – сорту ‘Слобожанський рубін’. Значення довжини бульби варіювалися в межах сортів. Індекс форми бульб батату як ідентифікаційна ознака сортів виявився варіабельно нестабільним; розрахований коефіцієнт фенотипової стабільності Левіса був нижчим за одиницю для обох досліджуваних сортів. | Purpose. To justify the use of the Lewis phenotypic stabi­lity factor (SF) to determine the stability of the manifestation of quantitative and economic value characteristics of national varieties of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.).Methods. Field research on the comprehensive assessment of new sweet potato varieties was carried out in 2021–2022 at the Institute of Vegetable and Melon of the NAAS (Kharkiv Region). Phenological observations and biometric measurements of plants were carried out, as well as recording of meteorological data during the growing season, in particular during interphase periods of the culture. The stability of the studied traits was determined by finding the limit values of their manifestation (Xmax and Xmin) and further calculating the Levis phenotypic stability factor (SF).Results. The use of the Levis phenotypic stability factor (SF) made it possible to determine the stability of the manifestation of morphological features of sweet potato varieties (I. batatas), in particular, the quantitative characteristics of tubers: their number under the bush for the variety ‘Admiral’ is 5.3 pcs., for ‘Slobozhanskyi rubin’ – 3.7 pcs.; the average weight of the tuber is 254 and 283 g, respectively. The trait “sweet potato tuber shape index” ensured stability with a coefficient of 0.98 (‘Admiral’) and 1.03 (‘Slobozhanskyi rubin’). The stability of the manifestation of morphological features of sweet potato tubers was established for the varieties ‘Admiral’ and ‘Slobozhanskyi rubin’, which are common in Ukraine. They represent two maturity groups, and therefore differ in the duration of the tuber formation period. Thus, the early-ripening ‘Admiral’ has a vegetation period of 100–110 days; medium-ripening ‘Slobozhanskyi rubin’ – 110–120 days.Conclusions. The quantitative trait of sweet potato tubers of the ‘Admiral’ variety was more stable in terms of width; ‘Slobozhanskyi rubin’ variety – in terms length. Tuber length values varied within cultivars. The shape index of sweet potato tubers as an identification feature of varieties turned out to be variably unstable; the calculated Lewis phenotypic stability factor was lower than unity for both studied varieties.

Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam, also known as sweet potato, is an extremely versatile and delicious vegetable that possesses high nutritional value. It is also a valuable medicinal plant having anti-cancer, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory activities. Sweet potato is now considered a valuable source of unique natural products, including some that can be used in the development of medicines against various diseases and in making industrial products. The overall objective of this review is to give a bird's-eye view of the nutritional value, health benefits, phytochemical composition, and medicinal properties of sweet potato. Specifically, this review outlines the biological activities of some of the sweet potato compounds that have been isolated, the pharmacological action of the sweet potato extract, clinical studies, and plausible medicinal applications of sweet potato (along with a safety evaluation), and demonstrates the potential of sweet potato as a medicinal food.

Проведено фенологічні спостереження та біометричні вимірювання рослин, а також фіксацію метеорологічних даних упродовж вегетації, зокрема в міжфазні періоди культури. Стабільність досліджуваних ознак визначали у спосіб пошуку граничних значень їх прояву (Xmax і Xmin) та подальшого розрахунку коефіцієнта фенотипової стабільності Левіса (SF). Результати. Застосування коефіцієнта фенотипової стабільності Левіса (SF) дало змогу визначити стабільність прояву морфологічних ознак сортів батату (Ipomoea batatas L.), зокрема кількісних характеристик бульб: їх чисельність під кущем для сорту ‘Адмірал’ – 5,3 шт., для ‘Слобожанський рубін’ – 3,7 шт.; середня маса бульби – 254 і 283 г відповідно. Ознака «індекс форми бульб батату» забезпечила стабільність із коефіцієнтом 0,98 (‘Адмірал’) і 1,03 (‘Слобожанський рубін’). Стабільність прояву морфологічних ознак бульб батату встановлено для поширених на території України сортів ‘Адмірал’ і ‘Слобожанський рубін’. Вони репрезентують дві групи стиглості, а тому різняться за тривалістю періоду формування бульб. Так, ранньостиглий ‘Адмірал’ має період вегетації 100–110 діб; середньостиглий ‘Слобожанський рубін’ – 110–120 діб. Висновки. Стабільнішою за шириною була кількісна ознака бульби батату сорту ‘Адмірал’; за довжиною – сорту ‘Слобожанський рубін’. Значення довжини бульби варіювалися в межах сортів. Індекс форми бульб батату як ідентифікаційна ознака сортів виявився варіабельно нестабільним; розрахований коефіцієнт фенотипової стабільності Левіса був нижчим за одиницю для обох досліджуваних сортів.

There has been studied the Levis coefficients stability in very short dynamical series. It has been established that we can study the ecological stability of variety even in two years test. There has been pointed the growth absolutly coefficients in long test. Estimation of variety to demand three statistical characteristics - mean, coefficients of stability and elasticity.

Morphological and nutritional studies were carried out on various parts of the two varieties of Ipomoea batatas (white fleshed TIS 87/0087 and orange fleshed UMUSPO/3) to determine their morphological and nutritional characteristics using standard techniques. Analysis of variance was employed for data analysis. Result revealed that the two varieties had similar qualitative morphological features but showed variation in their length, breadth, colour and girth. The result of the proximate analysis revealed that the nutrients were present in all the parts of the two varieties investigated but in varied proportions. Protein, fat and ash were highest in the leaves of both varieties when compared to other parts (12.13±0.20mg/100g, 3.92±0.14mg/100g and 2.85±0.06mg/100g of I.  batatas respectively.  Moisture and carbohydrate were highest in the tubers of both varieties when compared to other parts (10.73±0.22mg/100g and 81.22±3.80mg/100g) respectively while crude fiber was highest in the stem of the two varieties when compared to other parts (26.15±0.29mg/100g). Data obtained indicated that these parts of the two varieties contained appreciable amount of nutrients which could be included in diets to supplement our daily nutrient needs and animal feed. Apart from the tuber eaten by our people, other parts of the plant should also be used as food. Overall data could be a viable tool for sweet potato breeding as an improvement in sweet potato production. Morphological characteristics observed were similar indicating that the two varieties are phyllogenetically related. The data could also be used to enhance proper taxonomic characterization and identification of the species I.  batatas.

Мета. Визначити біохімічні показники якості вирощуваного у різних умовах насіння сортів ріпаку озимого.Методи. У процесі досліджень використовували лабораторний, розрахунковий і статистичний методи, для підготовки висновків – аналізу та синтезу.Результати. За результатами лабораторних досліджень визначили біохімічні показники якості вирощуваного в різних умовах насіння сортів ріпаку озимого типу розвитку, а саме: вміст олії, «сирого протеїну» та глюкозинолатів. Значний вплив на показники якості насіння мають метеорологічні умови впродовж вегетаційного періоду рослин відповідної ґрунтово-кліматичної зони. Встановлено, що у 2022 р. біохімічні показники насіння ріпаку озимого були вищими ніж у 2020 р. Зростання урожайності на 1,6 т/га у зоні Степу, 1,1 т/га – Лісостепу, 1,4 т/га – Полісся забезпечило підвищення вмісту олії на 2,4, 6,6 та 6,7% відповідно. Збори олії з гектара збільшилися на 0,74 т/га у зонах Степу та Полісся, 0,62 т/га – Лісостепу.  У 2022 р., порівнюючи з 2020, спостерігали зниження показника «сирого протеїну»: на 3,1% у зоні Степу, 5,8% – Лісостепу та 5,0% – Полісся. На вміст глюкозинолатів впливали умови років досліджень у відповідних ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах. Степ і Лісостеп мали ідентичні показники – 0,7%, Полісся – 0,8%, тоді як у 2021 р. для зони Степу та Полісся вміст глюкозинолатів у насінні ріпаку був на 0,8 та 0,9% більшим, порівнюючи з показниками, отриманими в інші роки досліджень.Висновки. Встановлено, що в середньому за 2020–2022 рр. загальний вміст олії в насінні ріпаку становив 46,2% (Степ), 47,5% (Лісостеп) і 47,8% (Полісся); вміст «сирого протеїну» – 19,6% (Степ), 18,4% (Лісостеп) і 17,9% (Полісся); вміст глюкозинолатів – 0,7% (Степ та Лісостеп) і 0,8% (Полісся). Збір олії в зоні Степу мав показник 1,31 т/га, Лісостепу – 1,16 т/га, Полісся – 1,33 т/га. Збір білка з гектара становив 0,54 т/га для Степу, 0,44 т/га – Лісостепу та 0,48 т/га – Полісся. Умови вирощування за роки досліджень у відповідній зоні впливають на формування біохімічних показників насіння ріпаку озимого. | Purpose. To determine the biochemical indicators of seed quality of winter rape varieties grown under different conditions.Methods. During the research, the following methods were used: laboratory, calculation and statistical, to prepare conclusions – analysis and synthesis.Results. According to the results of laboratory studies, biochemical indicators of the quality of seeds of winter rape varieties, grown in different conditions, were established, namely: the content of oil, “crude protein” and glucosinolates. Meteorological conditions during the vegetation period of plants of the corresponding soil and climate zone have a significant influence on the quality indicators of seeds. Based on the results of the research, it was established that in 2022, compared to 2020, the biochemical indicators of winter rapeseed were higher. The increase in yield by 1.6 t/ha in the Steppe zone, 1.1 t/ha – Forest-Steppe, 1.4 t/ha – Polissia ensured an increase in oil content by 2.4% – Steppe, 6.6% – Forest-Steppe, 6.7% – Polissia and oil collection per hectare by 0.74 t/ha – Steppe and Polissia, 0.62 t/ha – Forest-Steppe. For the content of “crude protein”, a decrease in the index was observed, namely: by 3.1% in the Steppe zone, 5.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 5.0% in the Polissia in 2022 compared to 2020. Meteorological conditions of the research years in the corresponding soil and climatic zones had an influence on the content of glucosinolates. For the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, the indicators were identical and amounted to 0.7%, 0.8% (Polissia), while in 2021, for the Steppe and Polissia zones, the content of glucosinolates in rapeseed was 0.8% and 0.9% more, compared to the indicators obtained in other years of research.Conclusions. It was established that, on average, for 2020–2022, the total oil content in seeds of rape was 46.2% – Steppe, 47.5% – Forest-Steppe, 47.8% – Polissia; “crude protein” content – 19.6% – Steppe, 18.4% – Forest-Steppe, 17.9% – Polissia; the content of glucosinolates was 0.7% in the Steppe and Forest-steppe zones, 0.8% in the Polissia; oil collection in the Steppe zone 1.31 t/ha, Forest-Steppe – 1.16 t/ha, Polissia – 1.33 t/ha; protein collection per hectare is 0.54 t/ha in Steppe, 0.44 t/ha in Forest-Steppe and 0.48% in Polissia. Growing conditions over the years of research in the corresponding zone affect the formation of biochemical indicators of winter rapeseed.

Accounting for co-products of vegetable oil production is essential in reviewing the sustainability of biodiesel production, especially since oil crops produce valuable protein-rich co-products in different quantities and qualities. Two accounting methods, allocation on the basis of energy content and system expansion, are compared. Significant differences in results exist between the methods where system expansion is to be preferred because it can take actual use of co-products into account. Results are very sensitive to the choices made in system expansion. Differences can be large, especially between a system expansion where primarily the use of co-products of the oil crops is taken into account and an expansion that also includes direct oil exchange of the vegetable oil used for biodiesel for the marginal oil in the market.

In this study, the seeds of open-pollinated winter rapeseed cultivars, hybrid winter rapeseed cultivars, open-pollinated spring rapeseed cultivars and hybrid spring rapeseed cultivars were investigated. The physical, optical, mechanical, geometric and image texture properties of rapeseeds were compared. Statistical models were developed based on the analyzed parameters to discriminate between seed groups. Most parameters effectively discriminated between cultivars of winter and spring rapeseed, including true density, porosity, L*, a*, b*, and spectral values at 400 nm, 470 nm, 500–530 nm, 560–620 nm, 640–650 nm and 690 nm. Four homogeneous groups were identified based on linear dimensions: F (surface area), S (width) and shape factors W6 (circularity ratio), Rb (Blair-Bliss coefficient) and W13 (roundness). No statistically significant differences in the mean values of hardness or area under the force-displacement graph were observed between seed groups. The model developed based on image texture variables from channel Y (luminance) was characterized by the highest discrimination accuracy of 82–87%. The experimental groups were classified with 89–92% accuracy in the model combining the best variables from each group of physical parameters. Total classification accuracy in neural networks reached 75% for a validation set comprising geometric properties and 91–92% for a validation set containing physical characteristics.

This paper aims to assess and compare the sustainability of rapeseed and sunflower crop cultivation for energy purposes in Italy, by considering environmental and economic performances at the farm level. The analysis focused on twelve representative farming units that were extracted from a sample of 396 farms by applying a cluster analysis. Using an Attributional Life Cycle Assessment method, the values of midpoint environmental impact categories and the carbon footprint of the twelve farms were assessed. The economic performance of rapeseed and sunflower per 1 Mg of biomass cultivation was measured in terms of the value added. In order to combine an environmental and economic assessment, the eco-efficiency ratio was applied to measure the value added per Mg of greenhouse gasses emitted into the atmosphere. Three rapeseed farms had the lowest GHG emissions of the whole sample. Practices of intensive farming with high fertilization and mechanization (fertilizer and machinery production and usage) are known to have a negative environmental impact. When the level of productivity is low, the impact is still higher. Regarding the eco-efficiency ratio, of the twelve representative farming units, results showed again that the three rapeseed farms had the highest eco-efficiency ratio. Summarizing both perspectives, findings from the eco-efficiency analysis gave a premium to rapeseed over sunflower crop in terms of the economic value added per kg of GHGs emitted into the atmosphere. The study findings presented a complex picture of the crops and of agricultural practices of each farm that underlines the variability and sensitivity of results in specific case studies. Indeed, the complexity of the matter, including the implications of bioenergy crops for energy and food safety beyond the environmental and economic assessment of the cultivation phase, cannot be ignored. Further studies are needed to apply a multiple perspective to the joint analysis of the sustainability of agricultural processes related to first generation bioenergy crops.

Purpose. Winter garlic is a heterogeneous biological material, and due to the complex of its diverse morphological and economically valuable features (in nature and culture), it is possible to select promising forms. Crop productivity is determined by climatic variables such as temperature and precipitation (the main abiotic environmental factors). Given the current trends in climate change, it is important to carry out analyzes aimed at describing and selecting plant genotypes with the best adaptive and productive properties. The investigation is focused on studying the adaptive and productive potential of promising samples of Allium sativum L. subsp. sagittatum together with the varieties on which the production of garlic in Ukraine is based, according to such characteristics as “bulb mass”, “yield” and “essential oil content”.Methods. During 2020–2022, in field conditions (Uman, 48°46¢N, 30°14¢E), five common and two newly created (‘Apollon’ and ‘Dzhovanna’) varieties of winter garlic were studied, as well as its promising variety samples No. 25 and 40. The obtained results were evaluated by the method of regression analysis to determine the stability and plasticity of the varieties.Results were conditionally divided into two groups according to parameters. The first group contained results that show the most important adaptive and productive characteristics (bulb mass, yield, plasticity, stability, selection value, adaptability). The second one included the parameters of the biochemical properties of the studied populations (essential oil), which in this case demonstrated significant influence and substantial stability. Most of the researched garlic populations are able to serve as effective material for obtaining new varieties. They can be classified as follows: ‘Khando’, ‘Dzhovanna’, ‘Apollon’, No. 25 and No. 40 – high yield, adaptability and breeding value; ‘Sofiivskyi’, ‘Apollon’ and No. 40 – technological quality (technical varieties); ‘Giovanna’ – food quality (table variety).Conclusions. As a result of the conducted research, the spectrum of adaptive variability of A. sativum L. subsp. sagittatum in terms of bulb weight and yield, and new promising samples which can be used as starting material for the creation of new adaptive varieties were discovered. | Мета. Часник озимий – гетерогенний біологічний матеріал, за комплексом багатоманітних морфологічних і господарсько-цінних ознак якого (у природі та культурі) можна здійснювати добір перспективних форм. Продуктивність культури визначають такі кліматичні змінні, як температура й опади (основні абіотичні фактори навколишнього середовища). З огляду на сучасні тенденції до зміни клімату важливо проводити аналізи, спрямовані на опис та відбір генотипів рослин з найкращими адаптивними й продуктивними властивостями. Дослідження зосереджено на вивченні адаптивно-продуктивного потенціалу перспективних зразків Allium sativum L. subsp. sagittatum сукупно з сортами, на яких базується виробництво часнику в Україні, за такими ознаками, як «маса цибулини», «врожайність» і «вміст ефірної олії».Методи. Впродовж 2020–2022 рр. у польових умовах (м. Умань, 48°46′N, 30°14′E) досліджували п’ять поширених і два новостворені (‘Аполлон’ і ‘Джованна’) сорти часнику озимого, а також його перспективні сортозразки № 25 і 40. Отримані результати оцінювали методом регресійного аналізу для визначення стабільності та пластичності сортів.Результати досліджень умовно поділяли на дві групи за параметрами. Перша містила результати, які показують найважливіші адаптивно-продуктивні характеристики (маса цибулини, врожайність, пластичність, стабільність, селекційна цінність, адаптивність). Друга – параметри біохімічних властивостей досліджуваних популяцій (ефірна олія), які у цьому разі демонстрували значний вплив та істотну стабільність. Більшість досліджених популяцій часнику здатні слугувати результативним матеріалом для одержання нових сортів. Їх можна класифікувати так: ‘Хандо’, ‘Джованна’, ‘Аполлон’, № 25 і № 40 – висока врожайність, адаптивність і селекційна цінність; ‘Софіївський’, ‘Аполлон’ і № 40 – технологічна якість (технічні сорти); ‘Джованна’ – харчова якість (столовий сорт).Висновки. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено спектр адаптивної мінливості сортів A. sativum L. subsp. sagittatum за показниками маси цибулини та врожайності й виявлено нові перспективні зразки, що можуть бути використані як вихідний матеріал для створення нових адаптивних сортів.

BACKGROUND: Developing drought-tolerant crops critically depends on the efficient response of a genotype to the limited water availability, a trait known as phenological plasticity. Our understanding of the phenological plasticity remains limited, in particular, about its relationships with plant developmental program. Here, we examined the plastic response of spring wheat at tillering, booting, heading, and anthesis stages to constant or periodic drought stress. The response was assessed by morphological and physiological parameters including symptoms. RESULTS: The dynamics of morphological symptoms were indicators of the plasticity identification of drought. We found that spring wheat exhibits higher phenological plasticity during tillering stage followed by the heading stage, while booting and anthesis stages are the most sensitive. Also, the adaptive response is thought to be influenced with the plant height genes. Furthermore, periodic stress caused more pronounced inhibition of yield than the constant stress, with limited resistance resolution under long period. CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows the importance of considering the phenological plasticity in designing screens for drought tolerance in spring wheat and proposes tillering as the most informative stage for capturing genotypes with tolerance to limit water availability.

Rainfall, temperature, and solar radiation are important climate factors, which determine crop growth, development and yield from instantaneous to decadal scales. We propose to identify year patterns of climate impact on yield on the basis of rain and non-rain weather. There are inter-related impacts of climatic factors on crop production within a specific pattern. Historical wheat yield data in Queensland during 1889-2004 were used. The influence of meteorological conditions on wheat yields was derived from statistical yield data which were detrended by 9-year-smoothing averages to remove the effects of technological improvements on wheat yields over time. Climate affects crop growth and development differently over different growth stages. Therefore, we considered the climate effects at both vegetative and reproductive stages (before and after flowering date, respectively) on yield. Cluster analysis was employed to identify the year patterns of climate impact. Five patterns were significantly classified. Precipitation during the vegetative stage was the dominant and beneficial factor for wheat yields while increasing maximum temperature had a negative influence. Crop yields were strongly dependent on solar radiation under normal rainfall conditions. As the effect of rainfall on soil water is relatively long-lasting, its beneficial effect in vegetative stage was higher than its effect during the reproductive stage. The Agricultural Production Systems sIMulator (APSIM) was evaluated using long-term historical data to determine whether the model could reasonably simulate effects of climate factors for each year pattern. The model provided good estimates of wheat yield when conditions resulted in medium yield levels, however, in extremely low or high yield years, corresponding to extremely low or high precipitation in the vegetative stage, the model tended to underestimate or overestimate. Under high growing season precipitation, simulations responded more favourably to reproductive stage rainfall than measured yields. © 2013 Royal Meteorological Society.

The model, Yᵢⱼ = μ₁ + β₁Iⱼ + δᵢⱼ, defines stability parameters that may be used to describe the performance of a variety over a series of environments. Yᵢⱼ is the variety mean of the iᵗʰ variety at the jₜₕ environment, µ₁ is the iᵗʰ variety mean over all environments, β₁ is the regression coefficient that measures the response of the iᵗʰ variety to varying environments, δᵢⱼ is the deviation from regression of the iᵗʰ variety at the jᵗʰ environment, and Iⱼ is the environmental index. The data from two single-cross diallels and a set of 3-way crosses were examined to see whether genetic differences could be detected. Genetic differences among lines were indicated for the regression of the lines on the environmental index with no evidence of nonadditive gene action. The estimates of the squared deviations from regression for many hybrids were near zero, whereas extremely large estimates were obtained for other hybrids.

The article gives analysis of practical value of soybean varieties according to productivity and ecological plasticity in different climatic provinces of Ukraine. Ecological estimation of soybean varieties by the methodology of Eberhart and Rassel has been made. This estimation helped to determine variety plasticity and potential to adaptability. It has been established that varieties Almaz and Diona were the best according to the results of ecological research of varieties. The most favourable regions for cultivation of up-to-date soybean varieties have been chosen. Variety Almaz has been defined as the most intensive and plastic soybean variety (average yield during research years was 2.66–2.93 t/hа). Varieties Antratsit and Ametist also have shown high plasticity. The article gives rank estimation of practical value of soybean varieties on the basis of grain productivity.It has been established that all examined varieties had high economic value – coefficient of agronomic stability is higher than 70%.Variety Almaz has the greatest selective value according to homeostatic character. Almaz is the most intensive variety with maximal plasticity grown in Poltava region.Varieties with high indices of adaptability and plasticity which are very valuable for selection and practical use have been singled out.

Purpose. To analyze lines of competitive testing of soft spring wheat in terms of ecological plasticity and stability using statistical methods of analysis and identify lines with high stability of grain yield.Methods. The studies were carried out during 2018–2020, on the basis of the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat NAAS of Ukraine. When considering the results obtained, generally accepted methods of genetic and statistical analysis were used.Results. Evaluation of breeding material in different years makes it possible to obtain information about the characteristics of the reaction of genotypes to changes in environmental conditions. As a result of the studies, it was found that the lines Lutescens 14-32 (bi = 0.59), Erythrospermum 15-32 (bi = 0.44), Lutescens 14-47 (bi = 0.22) were of high plasticity. Calculations of ecological stability indicate that lines are considered stable, the variance of stability is zero or close to zero. From a practical point of view, lines with a combined manifestation of high ecological plasticity and stability are considered valuable. This was the line Erythro­spermum 15-32 (bi = 0.44; S2di = 0.01) that indicates its low reaction rate and the ability to provide a consistently high level of yield under any growing conditions. The most valuable are the genotypes that combine a low level of the coefficient of variation, high homeostaticity and bree­ding value, which include the lines Erythrospermum 15-32 (Hom = 206.42, Sc = 4.11), Lutescens 14-47 (Hom = 98.41, Sc = 3.91), Erythrospermum 17-08 (Hom = 78.57, Sc = 3.76), Erythrospermum 14-65 (Hom = 54.84, Sc = 3.75), Lutescens 14-32 (Hom = 54.60, Sc = 4.17), Lutescens 14-13 (Hom = 35.60, Sc = 3.78), Lutescens 14-48 (Hom = 46.66, Sc = 3.58).Conclusions. The evaluation of breeding material is of great importance when creating new high-performance varieties with adaptive potential. The method for assessing ecological plasticity and variants of its stability made it possible to differentiate wheat lines of soft spring competitive testing by their response to changes in gro­wing conditions. For a more optimal selection of breeding material in terms of ecological plasticity and stability, breeding programs should take into account ranked estimates of genotypes. | Мета. Використовуючи статистичні методи, проаналізувати за показниками екологічної пластичності та стабільності лінії конкурсного випробування пшениці м’якої ярої і виявити серед них такі, що вирізняються високою стабільністю врожайності зерна.Методи. Дослідження проводили протягом 2018–2020 рр. на базі Миронівського інституту пшениці імені В. М. Ремесла НААН. У процесі оброблення отриманих результатів послуговувалися загально­прийнятими методами генетико-статистичного аналізу.Результати. Оцінка селекційного матеріалу в різні роки дає змогу отримати інформацію щодо особливостей реакції генотипів на зміну екологічних умов. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено, що високопластичними є лінії Lutescens 14-32 (bi = 0,59), Erythrospermum 15-32  (bi = 0,44) і Lutescens 14-47 (bi = 0,22). За розрахунками, екологічно стабільними вважають лінії, варіанса стабільності яких дорівнює нулю (S2di = 0,00) або близька до нуля (S2di = 0,01). З погляду практичності цінними є лінії із сукупним проявом високої екологічної пластичності та стабільності, а саме: Erythrospermum 15-32 (bi = 0,44; S2di = 0,01), що має низьку норму реакції та може забезпечувати незмінно високий рівень врожайності за будь-яких умов вирощування. Найціннішими є генотипи, що поєднують у собі низький рівень коефіцієнта варіації (CV ≤ 10,0%), високу гомеостатичність і селекційну цінність. Серед них – лінії Erythrospermum 15-32 (Hom = 206,42, Sc = 4,11), Lutescens 14-47 (Hom = 98,41, Sc = 3,91), Erythrospermum 17-08 (Hom = 78,57, Sc = 3,76), Erythrospermum 14-65 (Hom = 54,84, Sc = 3,75), Lutescens 14-32 (Hom = 54,60, Sc = 4,17), Lutescens 14-13 (Hom = 35,60, Sc = 3,78) і Lutescens 14-48 (Hom = 46,66, Sc = 3,58).Висновки. Оцінка селекційного матеріалу має важливе значення для створення нових високопродуктивних сортів з адаптивним потенціалом. Метод оцінки екологічної пластичності та варіанси її стабільності дав змогу диференціювати лінії пшениці м’якої ярої конкурсного випробування за реакцією на зміну умов вирощування. Для оптимальнішого відбору селекційного матеріалу за показниками екологічної пластичності та стабільності у селекційних програмах слід враховувати ранжовані оцінки генотипів.

Мета. Дослідити ступінь прояву послабленого стрілкування нестрілкуючих колекційних зразків часнику озимого різного еколого-географічного походження в умовах Правобережного Лісостепу України. Методи. Впродовж 2020–2022 рр. у польових умовах (м. Умань, 48°46’N, 30°14’E) вивчали дев’ять місцевих та інтродукованих зразків часнику озимого (№ 19, 27, 33, 43 і 44 з Черкаської обл., № 14 з Тернопільської обл., № 1 з Іспанії, № 16 із Франції, № 35 з Азербайджану). Під час розгляду отриманих результатів використовували загальноприйняті методи генетико-статис­тичного аналізу. Результати. Дослідженнями визначено, що у процесі утворення редукованої квітконосної стрілки маса цибулини знижувалася на 7,6–31,1% залежно від зразка, а врожайність – на 6,1–38,6%. Серед колекційних зразків за показником «маса цибулини» виділили № 16 і 44 – 57,22 і 52,24 г відповідно. Адаптивними за цією ознакою були зразки № 16, 19 і 44; інтенсивними – № 16, 27, 33 і 44, а стабільними – № 14, 19, 35 і 43. Виявлено помітну залежність між коефіцієнтом генетичної й екологічної варіації (CVG/CVA) для ознак «маса цибулини» і «врожайність», проте високої продуктивності досягнуто за умови співвідношення CVG/CVA ≥ 1. Як вихідний матеріал для подальшої селекції за ознакою «врожайність» виділено зразки: за адаптивністю й екологічною пластичністю – № 16 і 44; за стабільністю – № 19, 35 і 43 та інтенсивного типу – № 16, 27, 33 і 44, що забезпечують високу врожайність в оптимальних умовах культивування. Всі досліджувані зразки, які утворювали повітряні цибулини, характеризувалися дуже великою масою 1000 цибулин, у середньому – 1156,76 г. Максимальною масою 1000 шт. цибулин відзначилися № 16 і 27 – 1225,73 і 1638,0 г відповідно. Висновки. Отримані у Правобережному Лісостепу України дані слугуватимуть для розроблення схеми селекційних досліджень в умовах інтродукції. В результаті досліджень створено робочу колекцію вихідного матеріалу для селекції часнику класичним методом – клоновим добором. | Purpose. To investigate the degree of reduced scape of softneck collection specimens of winter garlic of different ecological and geographical origin in the conditions of the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. During 2020–2022, nine local and introduced varieties of winter garlic (Nos. 19, 27, 33, 43 and 44 from Cherkasy) were stu­died in field conditions (Uman, 48°46’N, 30°14’E) region, No. 14 from Ternopil region, No. 1 from Spain, No. 16 from France and No. 35 from Azerbaijan). Generally accepted methods of genetico-statistical analysis were used to evaluate the garlic collection. Results. The research revealed that the weight of the bulb decreased by 7.6–31.1%, depending on the sample, and the yield by 6.1–38.6% during the formation of a reduced scape. Among the collection samples, according to the “bulb weight” indicator, Nos. 16 and 44 stood out – 57.22 and 52.24 g, respectively, of the sample. Samples were selected as the initial material for further breeding based on the “yield” feature: according to adaptability and ecological plasticity – Nos. 16 and 44; according to stability – Nos. 19, 35 and 43 and samples of the intensive type – 16, 27, 33 and 44, which will ensure high yields in optimal cultivation conditions. All studied samples that formed air bulbs were characterized by a very large 1000 bulb weight, on average 1156.76 g. The maximum of 1000 bulb weight was characteristic for samples No. 16 and 27 – 1225.73 and 1638.0 g, respectively. Conclusions. The data obtained in the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine will be used to develop a breeding research scheme under the conditions of introduction. As a result of the research, a working collection of raw material was created for the breeding of garlic by the classical method – clonal breeding.

Види та сорти цієї групи рослин інтродуковано в дендропарк у період з 1949-го по 2021 р. У процесі досліджень використовували методи аналізу та синтезу, порівняння й узагальнення інформаційних даних. Результати. Встановлено, що колекція пряних рослин Сирецького дендропарку налічує 69 таксономічних одиниць 33 родів, які об’єднують 12 родин. Серед них 52 види та 25 культиварів. Найбільше представників мають родини Lamia€ceae – 32 таксони, Amaryllidaceae – 11 таксонів та Asteraceae – 9 таксонів. Життєві форми пряних рослин представлені деревними (19 таксонів) та трав’яними рослинами (50 таксонів, з яких 10 є однорічниками, 2 – дворічниками, 38 – багаторічниками). Традиційні сфери застосування пряних рослин – харчова, лікарська (фармакологія) та парфумерна. Також їхні декоративні сорти і культивари використовують для створення ландшафтних композицій. Зокрема на території Сирецького дендропарку пряні рослини є композиційною основою тематичного «Саду пряно-ароматичних рослин», їх використовують як елементи класичних клумб і композицій літників, тематичних композицій (національні й аптекарські сади, декоративні городи), альпійських гірок і рокаріїв тощо.Висновки. Many years of experience in landscape design and creation of floral arrangements in the Syrets Arboretum showes that spicy plants are an important element in all types of tested decorative compositions. It is revealed that out of 69 spicy plants that grow on collectible plantings of the Sirets Arboretum, 51 have decorative qualities and are used as decorative-floral and decorative-deciduous species. The taxonomic and varietal variety of spicy plants has considerable potential for breeding work and creation of highly decorative landscape compositions of various purposes. Due to the availability of different life forms and biomorphological features, it is advi­sable to use spicy plants in different types of plantations for decorative gardening and landscape design.

Визначити вплив умов зволоження та обробки насіння біологічними препаратами Азотофіт-р, Фітоцид, Мікофренд-р, Органік-баланс Монофосфор на ростові процеси на початкових етапах життя рослин, формування густоти стояння та урожайність зерна сортів пшениці озимої.Методи. Для досліджень використовували загально­наукові, спеціальні, польові, математично-ста­тистичні та розрахунково-порівняльні методи.Результати. Запорукою високої врожайності пшениці озимої є одержання дружних сходів, формування оптимальної густоти стояння рослин на час збирання з урахуванням показників їх виживаності, коефіцієнту продуктивної кущистості та вивчення нових сортів, адаптованих до змін клімату. За результатами досліджень визначено, що в середньому за 2020–2022 рр. більшу урожайність зерна серед досліджуваних сортів пшениці озимої сформовано у рослин сорту ‘Дума одеська’ (8,38 т/га) на зрошенні у варіанті з передпосівною обробкою насіння біопрепаратом Азотофіт-р, що на 0,78 т/га більше, порівнюючи з контролем (обробка водою). У варіанті без зрошення урожайність становила 6,08 т/га, що менше за контроль на 2,3 т/га або 27,4%.Висновки. Розроблені елементи технології вирощування сортів пшениці озимої дають можливість сформувати оптимальну густоту стояння рослин та значно підвищити урожайність зерна в умовах Південного Степу України. | Purpose. In the variant without irrigation, the yield was 6.08 t/ha, which was less than the control by 2.3 t/ha or 27.4%.Conclusions. The developed elements of the technology of winter wheat varieties growing make it possible to form the optimal plant density and significantly increase grain yield in the conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine

Purpose. To evaluate the varieties: ‘MIP Assol’, ‘Balada Myronivska’, ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’, ‘MIP Yuvileina’, ‘MIP Lada’, ‘MIP Dniprianka’ and the standard variety ‘Podolianka’ and promising breeding lines: ‘Erythrospermum 55023’, ‘Lutescens 22198’, ‘Lutescens 37519’, ‘Lutescens 60049’, ‘Lutescens 60107’ winter wheat of the Mironovka`s breeding according to grain quality indicators.Methods. The research was conducted during the 2019–2021 in the breeding crop rotation of the winter wheat breeding laboratory of the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat, NAАS of Ukraine. The main method of research was laboratory and field, supplemented by analytical studies, measurements, calculations and observations.Results. The following breeding lines were the best in terms of protein content during the first sowing period: ‘Erythrospermum 55023’ (11.9%), ‘Lutescens 55198’ (12.8%), ‘Lutescens 37519’ (11.7%) and ‘Lutescens 60107’ (10.7%). During the second sowing period, the best varieties and breeding lines turned out to be ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’ (11.4%), ‘MIP Dniprianka’ (12.3%), ‘Erythrospermum 55023’ (12.3 %), ‘Lutescens 55198’ (11.4%), ‘Lutescens 37519’ (12.3%) and ‘Lutescens 60049’ (12.8%). According to the grain vitrification index during the first sowing period, the following can be distinguished: ‘Balada Myronivska’ (86.7%), ‘MIP Lada’ (89.3%), ‘MIP Dniprianka’ (87.3%), ‘Erythrospermum 55023’ (86.3 %), ‘Lutescens 55198’ (94.3 %) and ‘Lutescens 37519’ (91.0 %). During the second sowing period, these were ‘Balada Myronivska’ (86.7%), ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’ (79.3%), ‘MIP Lada’ (85.0%), ‘MIP Dniprianka’ (81.7%) and breeding lines ‘Lutescens 55198’ (80.7%) and ‘Lutescens 60049’ (81.3%). According to the content of raw gluten, the variety ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’ (26.2%) was selected. For all studied breeding lines, the value of the crude gluten content indicator varied from 26.0% to 29.9%. Du­ring the second sowing period, a higher percentage of raw gluten content was noted in the varieties ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’ (29.9%) and ‘MIP Dniprianka’ (27.4%) and selection lines – ‘Erythrospermum 55023’ (28.4%), ‘Lutescens 55198’ (27.4%), ‘Lutescens 37519’ (27.1%) and ‘Lutescens 60049’ (29.1%).Conclusions. During the three years of observations, the weather conditions differed in the amount of precipitation and the sum of active temperatures both during the growing season and during the period of flowering and maturation, which significantly affected the results of the analysis of grain quality indicators of winter wheat varieties and promising lines. Having analyzed the obtained results, it is possible to single out the varieties ‘Hratsiia Myronivska’ and ‘MIP Dniprianka’, as well as the breeding lines: ‘Erythrospermum 55023’, ‘Lutescens 55198’, ‘Lutescens 37519’ and ‘Lutescens 60049’, which exceeded the standard variety ‘Podolianka’ and the average experimental values for such basic indicators as protein content, gluten content, vitreousness and 1000-seed weight. | Мета. The development of agrifood systems in Latin America reflects contrasting policy goals. Most governments advocate that “modernization,” measured as increased rates of technology adoption, is the way to address persistent food insecurity. By contrast, peasants’ and indigenous people’s organizations and social movements propose advancing knowledge co-production and co-innovation to increase the resilience of agrifood systems. Colombia reformed the National Innovation System for Agriculture in 2017. The policy reform instructed transitioning from providing “technical advice” to rural extension services. The research aimed to fill the knowledge gap regarding the transition to rural extension along the guinea pig production chain.   In addition to characterizing the production chain, we conducted qualitative and reflectivity analyses to understand better how institutional practices and research cultures hinder or promote transitioning to rural extension. The investigation revealed that small-scale farmers who rely on the production and commercialization of guinea pigs as a livelihood strategy have continued receiving advice to adopt the latest technologies. In closing, besides addressing technological deficits or inefficiencies, a systemic approach that considers cultural context and identity must integrate into rural extension to ensure technological adoption is aligned with the sustainability and resilience objectives of the guinea pig production chain.

For this, a hydro-economic model was developed that integrates two modules: hydrological modeling based on SWAT and an economic optimization model based on PMP. En Perú se producen más de 3500 variedades de papas, sin embargo, es poca la información disponible sobre las propiedades antioxidantes que poseen. El objetivo de la investigación fue evaluar el efecto de los tratamientos térmicos de hervido y de fritura, y la digestión in vitro en el contenido de polifenoles totales, antocianinas y actividad antioxidante en cuatro variedades de papas nativas. Las papas nativas clon de pulpa rojo (C1), clon de pulpa azul (C2), variedad Elena 1198 (V4) y la variedad Kitipsho (V8) fueron obtenidas del centro poblado de Huallmish a 3500 m s.n.m. para la evaluación de principios activos, las muestras sometidas a cocción y fritura fueron licuadas y se realizaron extracciones con metanol y también se realizó la digestión in vitro. Los resultados en las papas nativas mostraron diferencias en peso, longitud y diámetro, además, tampoco se encontró la presencia de vitamina C. Los tratamientos térmicos mediante hervido, fritura y luego del proceso de digestión in vitro, indujeron variaciones en el contenido de componentes bioactivos (P < 0,05), donde las cuatro variedades de papa mostraron un incremento en su capacidad para inhibir el catión ABTS, lo que estaría relacionado con el tipo de antioxidante y el potencial de hidrógeno del medio al cual fue sometido durante la digestión in vitro. En conclusión, las muestras de papas nativas luego de los tratamientos de hervido, fritura y digestión in vitro incrementaron la actividad antioxidante para secuestrar el catión ABTS. | Papa-Solanum tuberosum

Climate change could potentially interrupt progress toward a world without hunger. A robust and coherent global pattern is discernible of the impacts of climate change on crop productivity that could have consequences for food availability. The stability of whole food systems may be at risk under climate change because of short-term variability in supply. However, the potential impact is less clear at regional scales, but it is likely that climate variability and change will exacerbate food insecurity in areas currently vulnerable to hunger and undernutrition. Likewise, it can be anticipated that food access and utilization will be affected indirectly via collateral effects on household and individual incomes, and food utilization could be impaired by loss of access to drinking water and damage to health. The evidence supports the need for considerable investment in adaptation and mitigation actions toward a “climate-smart food system” that is more resilient to climate change influences on food security.
