The article reflects economical value of a valuable food crop, field pea used chiefly as a vegetable (Pisum sativum L partim), its origin and distribution both in the worldwide scale and in our country, establishment of its varietal resources. Exhausting description is provided to new varieties of pea used chiefly as a vegetable, which have been listed in the State Register of Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine in 20010-2011 for the harvest in 2012, and for which official description is available.

The high content of phenolic compounds (quercetin-3-O-glycoside, izoramnetine-3-O-glycoside, 4'-metoxykempferol-3-O-glycoside, 4'-metoxyqvercetine-3-0-glycoside, apigenine and luteoline) in flowers of Prunus cerasifera Ehrh. in comparison with Prunus armeniaca L. has been shown. That can be the reason weak susceptibility of generative organs of cherry-plum to Sclerotinia (Monilinia) laxa (Aderh et Ruhl.) Honey.

Вивчено зміни здатності до проростання і схожості насіння жита озимого сортів Інтенсивне 95, Інтенсивне 99 та Сіверське під час зберігання за умов охолодження. Встановлено, що господарську та технологічну довговічність зерно жита зберігає протягом 1–2 років, а біологічну – 5 років. Найвищі показники здатності до проростання і схожості за всіх станів зерна визначено у сорту жита озимого Сіверське, а найнижчі – Інтенсивне 99.
