Eutrophication and bacterial pollution of the Montenegrian coastal sea during 2002
2003
Regner, D. | Vuksanovic, N. | Stjepcevic, B. | Joksimovic, D. (Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor (Serbia and Montenegro))
In this paper, results of seasonal investigations throughout 2002, important for evaluation of the eutrophication and bacterial pollution of the Montenegrin coastal sea were presented. It was established that the difference between warmer and colder periods of the year was highest in the part of the Montenegrin coastal sea exposed to the strongest impact of the open waters of the Southern Adriatic.

2003
Velkova-Jordanoska, L. (JNU Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
This report presents investigation performed as a part of a wider study desined to examine the level of pollution effects on fish in Ohrid lake (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). Faunal investigation of the fish Barbus meridionalis petenyi Heck. were carried out at the five localities in Ohrid lake. Microscope analysis of histological preparation of barbel hepatic tissue displayed a dominant presence of granulomatous inflammation on a level of hepatocelular parenchyme and cholangiofibrosis on a level of hepatic bile duck. The analysis did not exhibit any correlation between the granulomatous inflammation and the manifestation of the cholangiofibrous alterations.

2003
Lokoska, L. (Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
During 2001, water from river Cerava and from the littoral where the river flow into lake Ohrid, were examined. Bacteriological analysis included ecological and sanitary aspekt of water state. Heterotrophic, proteolytic, amylolytic and phosphomineralizing bacteria, most probable number of total coliforms (MPN) and presence of Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens were determined. The results of investigations shows organic and faecal pollution and permanent negative anthropogenic effects.

2003
Jovanovic, D. (Fakultet zastite na radu, Nis (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Pavlovic, D. (JKP za vodovod i kanalizaciju "Naissus", Nis (Serbia and Montenegro))
There have been given research results of quantitative and qualitative indices of communal and industrial waste waters of Nis. The research was carried out by the Institute "Jaroslav Cerni" (group of authors) and JKP "Naissus" (4) with the goal of defining as reliable parameters as possible in order to draw up plans for a central wastewater cleansing plant in Nis, as well as several necessary treatments of the industrial waste waters. There have been presented quantities, load and expected load of the total waste water, basic characteristics of urban and natural recipient, waste water influence on the river Nisava and needed degree of cleansing.

According to the plans, the town of Gacko tends to be water supplied from the water reservoir Vrba located at the river Vrba. About 150 to 200 m away is located ash basin. All ash basin area is oriented to the water reservoir and leaking water going directly to the water reservoir. The leaking water has high pH value, alkalinity, high content of sodium, potassium and sulphates. There are some heavy metals, but their concentrations are not significant. The influence of those contaminated water on the lake water quality is only little evident because of the high dilution rate.

2003
Petrovic, O. (Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro). Departman za biologiju i ekologiju) | Simeunovic, J. | Agbaba, J. | Ivancev-Tumbas, I.
As a consequence of bombing of Novi Sad Oil Refinery, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro), the spillage of large amounts of oil and derivatives caused hydrocarbons pollution of the area surrounding the Refinery and the river Danube, thus directly endangering the entire water source "Ratno ostro". As a measure of protection in the division zone of the Refinery and the water source area, a hydraulic barrier was constructed. Within the process of monitoring piezometer water quality and the water supplied by protection system wells, microbiological analyses of water were carried out with the aim of supervising the barrier functioning. The results have shown that bacterial populations in polluted areas exhibit a duel role: they act as bioindicators of a certain pollution, but at the same time they take part in the process of selfpurification.

Doklestic, O. (Opstina Herceg Novi, Herceg Novi (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Nicolaides, G.
This work presents a short review of the existing situation, nature conditions and recognised facts which are important for the sea- pollution of the oil, and another kind of the spill ship oils, inside of the Boka Bay and in the area of the open Adriatic Sea. The proposed original and innovative action concerns the large scale application of a new technique for a cleaning up waterborne oil spills, based on the magnetic separation method by using the material "CleanMag", an oleophillic, and porous material which also is magnetic with an increased density lower than that of the water.

Vukcevic, S. (Institut za tehnicka istrazivanja, Podgorica (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Vukmirovic, V. | Dakovic, S.
Degradation of groundwater quality whish is used as a raw water source, caused by the continuous pollution, develops gradually. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the pollution influence, on the first place by the expect concentration of hazardous substances in groundwater. Water source protection measures are based on the results of these analyses.

2003
Perovic, S. (Kombinat aluminijuma, Podgorica (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Kolinovic, R. | Grzetic, I.
Processes like QMS (Quality management systems) and EMS (Environmental management systems) consist of series of procedures/elements, among which are operative or working procedures. One of these procedures is control of waste waters from the Aluminium Plant in Podgorica, Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro). This procedure controls the order of activities, the responsibility, the input and output documents, with the exclusive aim to measure the effects of protection of surface and underground waters and to review the EMS of the company for the waste waters.

2003
Ivancev-Tumbas, I. (Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro). Institut za hemiju) | Dalmacija, B. | Becelic, M. | Karlovic, E. | Tamas, Z. | Pesic, V. | Agbaba, J. | Jovanovic, D.
The work is concerned with the study of groundwater quality in respect of hydrocarbons content, carried out on several sites on the territory of the Oil Refinery Novi Sad (Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro). In the course of four year that elapsed since the time spillage of crude and oil derivatives and deposition of burning products on the Refinery soil (April-June 1999) the processes of passive in situ bioremediation have been taking place on the contaminated area. By comparing the results for three contamination zones in a circle of 270 m from the site at which the spillage occurred, a certain increase in content of mineral oil was observed in deeper water-bearing layers at a distance of 200 and 270 m from the spillage site. A content of BTEX components the "movement" of the pollution was observed from the close zone 1 via the farther zone 2 to the farthest zone 3, which indicates that the intensity of bioremediation and all physico-chemical processes in general, taking place on the pollution site, is not sufficient to prevent pollution spreading. The assumption that the zone in question in probably a limiting zone is based on the results of the fourth sampling campaign, in which BTEX components were not detected on any of the locations of the zones 2 and 3.
