Honey is the most known among the honeybee products. But apart from honey, there are other bee products that are nutritious and supportive of treatment. Pollen, royal jelly, and propolis are among the bee products that have the highest number of researches made in the last years. However, products such as bee bread (perga) and drone larvae (apilarnil) are very unknown products with little work. Apitherapy; bee and bee products as a method of complementary application in the protection and treatment of certain diseases. However, in order for these applications to be successful, the chemical and biological properties of these products need to be known. For this purpose, the definition, chemical and biological properties and therapeutic activities of bee products are included in this study.

Parsley leaves (Petroselinum crispum L.) weighing 100 ± 0.09 g were dehydrated from moisture content of 82.24 ± 0.07% to 10.01 ± 0.02 % (wet basis) using the microwave (MD), convective (CD), solar oven (SOD), sun (SD) and natural (ND) drying. Drying in MD, CD, SOD, SD, and ND was completed at 18±1.15, 61±0.58, 255±10, 330±5.29, and 1530±11.55 min, respectively. The energy consumption of MD and CD was measured as 0.213±0.009 and 0.427±0.015 kWh, respectively. In microwave drying, 700 W microwave output power was applied while convective drying was used with 50°C temperature and 1m/s air velocity. The sun and solar oven drying processes were carried out under the same conditions at the same time. The average temperature of the system during the solar oven drying was 81.7±1.5°C whereas the airflow in the system was 0.5 m/s. The data obtained from the experiments were also modeled using twelve different thin-layer drying equations, and thus the theoretical data were obtained. According to these theoretical data, the best model in the microwave and natural drying was Alibas’s equation while the most suitable model in the solar and convective drying was modified Henderson and Pabis’s model. On the other hand, it was seen that the best model in the solar oven drying was the Page equation. As a result, considering both quality and drying parameters, it was determined that MD and SOD were the most suitable method for drying of parsley leaves.

This research was conducted to determine the viticulture potential of Şırnak province. In the 6 districts including the provincial centre, an evaluation was made in terms of characteristics such as viticulture technique, cultivated varieties, pruning and cultivation forms, soil tillage, fertilization, disease and pest control and product usage methods. In addition, the climate and soil characteristics of the region were evaluated, and the viticulture profile of the province was revealed. As a result of the research, it was found that viticulture is essentially an important branch of agriculture in the province, especially in the province of Idil, but there is a decrease in the vineyard areas due to lack of care, terrorism etc. It is determined the tall of the existing vineyards are indigenous, as the climate structure is suitable for viticulture in general, high temperature and drought prevails in summer, excessive stoniness in some vineyards areas and water stress in most regions.

Phytogenic feed additives have replaced the use of antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) in the diet of poultry particularly broiler chickens. Researchers are moving towards the use of natural products such as herbs, spices, plants and plant products, which possess influential effects on growth performance parameters, immune response and treatment of various diseases. Aloe vera is a well-known medicinal plant and is being used for commercial and therapeutic purposes such as antimicrobials, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulator, wound healing, antioxidant and antiprotozoal agents. From a few last decades, the use of Aloe vera has been increased as a natural additive to broiler diet. Based on the review of literature, Aloe vera can improve immune response, growth performance in the broiler, as well as an excellent alternative of AGPs and anticoccidial drugs. It can be used for broiler diet in the form of gel, powder, ethanolic extract and aqueous extract. This review provides information about the use of Aloe vera in broiler production with reference to the effects on growth performance, immune system, intestinal microflora and coccidiosis in broiler chickens.

Günümüzde bal arılarında dil çıkartma (PER) ve iğne çıkartma (SER) refleksleri gözlemlenerek koşullu şartlandırma araştırmaları yapılmaktadır. Araştırmalar sonucu narkotik maddeler, patlayıcılar, hastalıklar ve manyetik alanlar gibi olguların tespitinde bal arılarının biyo-sensör olarak şartlandırılarak kullanılabileceği gösterilmiştir. Bal arıları ile yapılan koşullu şartlandırma çalışmalarında doygun atmosfer spreyi ve dokunma yöntemleri dil çıkartma refleksi (PER) tespitinde yoğun olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bal arılarının farklı ırk ve ekotipleri ile yapılan bu çalışmada; doygun atmosfer spreyi ile şartlandırma yöntemi için, şartlandırma kabini içerisindeki işçi arılara aromatik bitki özütü içeren 50 cc atmosferik koku; yaklaşık 3 saniye içerisinde 5 cm mesafeden baş hizasına enjekte edilerek tanıtılmış ve arkasından 1/1 şeker-su (w/w) karışımı şurup ile ödüllendirilmişlerdir. Dokunma ile şartlandırma denemesinde ise yağlı aromatik bitki özütüne daldırılan ahşap kürdan işçi arıların antenlerine dokundurularak arkasından 1/1 şeker-su (w/w) karışımı şurup ile ödüllendirilmişlerdir. 15 dakika ara ile üç kez tekrar edilerek koşullu şartlandırılan bal arılarının şartlanma sonrası hatırlama oranları dil çıkartma refleksi (PER) davranışı gözlemlenerek şartlanma gösterip göstermedikleri tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada kullanılan bal arısı ırk ve ekotiplerinin her iki yöntemle de şartlandıkları gözlemlenmiştir. Bal arılarının koşullu şartlanma uygulaması sonrası hatırlamada; dokunma uygulamasının doygun atmosfer spreyi uygulamasına göre daha fazla şartlanma ve hatırlanma oranına sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Bu çalışmada, Tarm-92 iki sıralı arpa çeşidi tohumlarına uygulanan farklı dozlarda gama ışınının (200, 300, 400 ve 500 Gy) M2 bitkilerinde bazı tarımsal özellikler üzerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırma Isparta’da 2016-2017 vejetasyon döneminde yürütülmüştür. M1 generasyonunda, her dozda başak ve bitki görünümüne göre normal ve anormal bitkiler ayrı hasat edilerek 9 farklı [200, 200 A, 300, 300 A, 400, 400 A, 400 A (çift başak oluşumu ve başakta dallanma eğilimi gösteren bitkiler Ç.B.) 500 ve 500 A gray] grup oluşturulmuştur. M2 generasyonunda kontrol (ışın uygulanmamış) ile toplam 10 parsel yer almıştır. Araştırma sonucunda gama ışını uygulaması bin tane ağırlığı, hektolitre ağırlığı, kavuz oranı ve protein içeriği üzerine istatistiksel olarak önemli etkisi belirlenmiştir. Gama ışını uygulaması bin tane ve hektolitre ağırlığını önemli seviyede azaltmış, kavuz oranı ve protein oranını arttırmıştır. Araştırmada her gruptaki tüm bitkilerde bitki boyu, başak uzunluğu, başakta tane sayısı ve başakta tane ağırlığı özellikleri tek bitki üzerinde incelenmiş diskriminant analizi yapılmış ve gruplar arasındaki uzaklık sonuçları belirlenmiştir. M2 generasyonuda incelenen özellikler yönünden kontrole benzeyen bitki oranı 400 Gy %7,83, 200 Gy %10, 300 Gy %19,60 ve 500 Gy %22,22 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Doğrusal ayırma fonksiyonlarını içeren katsayılar incelendiğinde en etkin özelliğin başak uzunluğu olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Çalışmada, Çukurova Üniversitesi, Ziraat Fakültesi, Zootekni Bölümü, Araştırma ve Uygulama Çiftliği, Süt Sığırcılığı Ünitesi'nde yetiştiriciliği yapılan 45 Holstein ineğin süt verim kayıtlarının laktasyon eğrisi tahmin edilmiştir. Laktasyon eğrisinin tahmininde Gama fonksiyonu, Üstel fonksiyon ve Parabolik üstel fonksiyon olmak üzere üç farklı model kullanılmıştır. Modelleri karşılaştırırken kriter olarak belirtme katsayısı (R2) ve hata kareler ortalaması (HKO) kullanılmıştır. Minitab 13.0 V. paket programı yardımıyla analizler yapılmış, Microsoft Excel 2007 ile grafik çizilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, en az hata kareler ortalamasını veren ve en yüksek R2 değerini veren model Gama fonksiyonunun modeli olarak bulunmuştur. Bu model, kullanılan modeller arasında en iyisidir. Modele ait parametrelerin önem testi yapıldığında tüm parametreler istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur.

Crucial point of fishery management is to let the fish or other species reproduce at least once during their life. Therefore it is very important to determine the length at maturity (Lm) for given species before the first capture. Focus of this study is to determine the consistency between scientific results and minimum landing size (MLS) regulations in the marine fishery of Turkey. For this purpose, 4/1 communique on commercial fishery (2016/35) published by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was investigated in order to expose the MLS of given species in Turkey. Literature survey on Lm was also conducted preferably on studies which were performed in Turkish waters or from the Mediterranean basin in order to avoid regional differences. While 86 marine species were reported to be landed in the official fishery statistics, only 49 of them were appointed with a MLS in the commercial fisheries regulation. It was determined that MLS of 27 species were below the Lm according to the selected literature, 7 of them require result on Lm, status of the 2 species couldn’t be decided due to different length types and 13 (27% of the decisions on MLS) of them were found to be in accordance with the scientific literature on Lm. This study shows that MLS regulation must be revised for most of the species in the surrounding waters of Turkey and comprehensive maturity studies are urgently needed in order to fulfill the scientific gap.

Currently half the world population lives in cities, and this proportion is expected to increase rapidly to 70% over the next years. Multi-storey buildings and small green areas are being created with the effect of increasing population for years. In urban areas, where there are fewer green areas compared to rural areas, human diseases are increasing. Increased health problems affect people negatively and the need for green spaces increases. According to the regulation published in 1999, the amount of green area per person is determined as 10 m2. For this reason, the green areas designed in the sites where high-rise buildings have increased in the areas opened for reconstruction in Niğde will be evaluated. Accordingly, we will be determined adequacy of the green area. This study was conducted to determine the importance of green spaces for health and to provide suggestions for further research.

This study was carried out in greenhouse and laboratories of Department of Horticulture (Faculty of Agriculture, Ordu University, Ordu, Turkey) in 2013-2014 production seasons in Ordu ecological condition. Commercial garden cress standard seeds were used as plant materials. Plant densities were calculated upon the seed quantity spread on 1 m2, and seeds were sown for 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 g per m2. Peat: perlite mix prepared in proportion of 3:1 was used as the growing medium and filled in 50×16×14 cm sized plastic pots. The garden cress plants were harvested on the 45th day after seeding. The yield, leaf petiole length, leaf length, leaf width and chlorophyll content of the harvested plants were determined. It has been determined that quality parameters vary depending on plant density and varieties. The highest plant yield was obtained from “BT Bu-ter” garden cress variety with 2.489.2 g/m2. The plant yield in different plant densities was increased in the rates varying between 3.31% and 8.25%. The increasing plant densities caused an increase in yield but negatively affected the leaf quality in terms of both length and chlorophyll content. Leaf width, leaf length, leaf petiole length and chlorophyll content were decreased depending on the increase in plant densities. Based on the information obtained, it was considered useful to choose a plant densities based on the variety and growing season according to the growing purpose.
