HUMIFIED FRACTION OF ORGANIC MATTER DUE TO PLANT MIXTURE CULTIVATION

RESUMO - O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar as mudanças na quantidade e qualidade da matéria orgânica, particularmente da fração húmica, na camada superficial (0-20 cm) de um Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo sob diferentes coquetéis vegetais usados como adubação verde da cultura da mangueira (Mangifera indica L.). Os coquetéis vegetais, semeados nas entrelinhas das mangueiras, foram formados por dois grupos de espécies leguminosas e não-leguminosas. As sementes, antes da semeadura, foram combinadas em diferentes composições e proporções que constituíram os tratamentos: 100% de espécies não-leguminosas (NL); 100% de espécies leguminosas (L); 75% L e 25% NL; 50% L e 50% NL; 25% L e 75% NL; e 100% vegetação espontânea, considerado como testemunha. Constatou-se que a aplicação de coquetéis vegetais na entrelinha da cultura da mangueira promoveu alterações na composição química da matéria orgânica do solo, com destaque para os tratamentos 50% L e 50% NL e 25% L e 75% NL que aumentaram o conteúdo de substâncias húmicas na matéria orgânica do solo. Não obstante, o tratamento 25% L e 75% NL foi o indicado para minimizar as perdas de carbono orgânico total do solo. Os ácidos húmicos estudados são de característica mais alifática apresentando grande quantidade de grupos carboxílicos e nitrogenados e sendo a maior parte do carbono orgânico do solo constituído por substâncias húmicas, tendo a fração ácidos fúlvicos como dominante entre as frações alcalino solúveis. | ABSTRACT - The aim of this study was to assess the organic matter changes in quantity and quality, particularly of the humic fraction in the surface layer (0-20 cm), of a Typic Plinthustalf soil under different management of plant mixtures used as green manure for mango (Mangifera indica L.) crops. The plant mixtures, which were seeded between rows of mango trees, were formed by two groups of leguminous and non -leguminous plants. Prior to sowing, seeds were combined in different proportions and compositions constituting the following treatments: 100% non-leguminous species (NL); 100% leguminous species (L); 75% L and 25% NL; 50% L and 50% NL; 25% L and 75% NL; and 100% spontaneous vegetation, considered a control. The plant mixtures that grew between rows of mango trees caused changes in the chemical composition of the soil organic matter, especially for the treatments 50% L and 50% NL and 25% L and 75% NL, which increased the content of humic substances in the soil organic matter. However, the treatment 25% L and 75% NL was best at minimising loss of total organic carbon from the soil. The humic acids studied have mostly aliphatic characteristics, showing large amounts of carboxylic and nitrogen groups and indicating that most of the organic carbon was formed by humic substances, with fulvic acid dominating among the alkali soluble fractions.

RESUMO Estudou-se a diversidade e infestação de moscas-das-frutas em manga na região semiárida do estado de Minas Gerais. Os levantamentos foram realizados em pomares localizados no perímetro de irrigação no município de Jaíba, no norte de Minas Gerais, no período de novembro de 2016 a novembro de 2017. A amostragem foi realizada por coleta de frutos e com armadilhas McPhail. Do total de adultos obtidos (9.033), 8.902 espécimes foram Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae), coletados predominantemente em armadilhas (91,3%). Frutos de manga 'Palmer' foram infestados apenas por C. capitata, com altas taxas de infestação (15,14 pupários.kg-1 de fruto). A população de C. capitata coincidiu com a ocorrência de frutos maduros de manga nos pomares. C. capitata é a espécie mais frequente e constante da pesquisa, sendo considerada uma espécie dominante. | ABSTRACT We studied the diversity and level of infestation of fruit flies in mango orchards in a semi -arid region in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Surveys were conducted in orchards in the irrigated perimeter of Jaíba municipality in northern Minas Gerais, from November 2016 to November 2017. Sampling was conducted by collecting mangoes and trapping flies in McPhail traps. Of the total adult flies obtained (9,033), 8,902 specimens were Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae), making it the predominant species collected in the traps (91.3%). ‘Palmer’ mango fruits were only infested with C. capitata, and showed high infestation rates (15.14 puparia kg-1 of fruit). The population peak of C. capitata coincided with the occurrence of mature mango fruits in the orchards. C. capitata was the most frequent and constant species identified in the survey and can be considered a dominant species.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to evaluate the gas exchange, leaf temperature, yield and water use efficiency in 'Tommy Atkins' mango under irrigation deficit strategies. The experimental design was randomized block, with seven treatments with regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) under micro-spray and five treatments with partial root-zone drying (PRD) under drip irrigation. The treatments on RDI consisted of application of 100, 75 and 50% of ETc at the stages S1 (beginning of flowering to fruit set) S2 (fruit development) and S3 (fruit physiological maturation). The treatments on PRD consisted of application of 100, 80, 60 and 40% of ETc, in the same three stages, alternating the irrigation side every 15 days. The regulated deficit irrigation causes less negative interference in gas exchange than the partial root-zone drying, and the climate factors affect the gas exchange and leaf temperature of 'Tommy Atkins' mango more than the regulated deficit irrigation. The partial root-zone drying irrigation with 60 and 40% of ETc causes a decrease in the 'Tommy Atkins' mango yield. The regulated deficit irrigation up to 50% of ETc, applied at the fruit maturation stage, maintain the yield and water use efficiency. | RESUMO: Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar as trocas gasosas, temperatura foliar, produtividade e eficiência de uso da água em mangueira 'Tommy Atkins' sob irrigação com déficit. O delineamento experimental foi em bloco casualizado, com sete tratamentos para a irrigação com déficit controlado (RDI) sob microaspersão e com cinco tratamentos para a irrigação lateralmente alternada (PRD) sob gotejamento. No manejo RDI os tratamentos consistiram da aplicação de 100, 75 e 50% da ETc nas fases F1 (início da floração até o pegamento dos frutos), F2 (desenvolvimento do fruto), e F3 (maturação fisiológica do fruto). No manejo pelo PRD os tratamentos consistiram da aplicação de 100, 80, 60 e 40% da ETc nas três fases com alternância do lado irrigado de 15 dias. Verificou-se que a irrigação com déficit controlado causa menos interferências negativas nas trocas gasosas que a irrigação lateralmente alternada e as trocas gasosas e temperatura foliar da mangueira 'Tommy Atkins' sofrem maiores influências de elementos do clima que da irrigação com déficit controlado. A irrigação lateralmente alternada com 60 e 40% da ETc ocasiona queda na produção da mangueira 'Tommy Atkins'. Irrigação com déficit controlado com até 50% da ETc aplicados na fase de maturação do fruto mantem a produtividade e a eficiência de uso da água.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to assess the physical, chemical, and sensory attributes of mango varieties grown under the organic farming. Fruits from ten varieties of mango grown under the organic system in the Chapada Diamantina region, BA, Brazil, were assessed. The following physical and chemical characteristics were assessed: fruit mass, pulp yield, pulp color (L*, C*, and h*), soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), total carotenoids, and ascorbic acid. The sensory acceptance test was performed with 50 consumers using the nine-point structured hedonic scale and the attributes acidity, sweetness, and firmness of the pulp were assessed using the just-about-right scale. Differences among the varieties of mango grown under the organic production system were observed for physical, chemical and sensory attributes. The varieties showed a percentage of pulp equal or above 60%, which makes them more suitable for processing. According to the PCA analysis, the characteristics soluble solids, total carotenoids, fruit mass, titratable acidity, h* and L* were considered the most important to differentiate the mango varieties evaluated. Ubá and Beta varieties had the highest levels of SS, while Favo de Mel was characterized by the highest values of TA and L*. The varieties Favo de Mel, Palmer, Surpresa, Juazeiro 2, Imperial and Joa had fruits with higher mass and h* values and the varieties Amrapali and Roxa Embrapa 141 had the highest levels of total carotenoids. Imperial, Palmer, Beta and Joa varieties were the most accepted for all sensory attributes.
