The objective of this study was to evaluate the accumulation of matter, dry matter content of Brix and two varieties of sugar cane, influenced by the phosphorus cultivated on "Zona da Mata" region, State of Alagoas. The experiment, a factorial 2 x 6, was composed of two varieties of cane; RB867515 and RB92579 and six phosphorus levels: zero, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg ha-1, with the source of the phosphorus triple superphosphate . Was also used nitrogen and potassium in doses equivalent to 100 and 200 kg ha-1 and K, respectively. The soil of the experimental area was set to raise the base saturation to 60%. At the beginning of the first rainfall of the rainy season of 2006 was performed with micro fertilization in coverage, in doses equivalent to 6,0; 6,0 and 7,0 kg ha-1 of Cu, Zn and Mn, respectively. Was The chemical control of weeds. Every month, from August to October 2006, samples were collected in the cane plant. There was initially the number of plants m2, followed by weighing the material. It was subsequently withdrawn a subsample containing ten plants for weighing. After weighing the material was passed in horsemanship and homogenized, again drew up a sample of approximately 300g, leading them to forced ventilation oven at 65 ºC, to obtain constant weight. Resulting in the production of natural (MN) and dry matter (DM). In July, we analyzed the levels of Brix% juice in the refractometer Brix. The average values of production of natural (MN), dry matter (DM) and contents of Brix% were subjected to analysis of variance and regression for variables. The accumulation of dry matter and were influenced by fertilization. The contents of Brix% in two varieties did not suffer significant influence of fertilization.

Cordia oncocalyx is abundant among the woody community, nevertheless it presents low density on the soil seed bank. Our hypothesis is that C. oncocalyx presents higher fruit density in areas with higher adult density, once it¿s fruit, although proper for wind dispersal, but not being dispersed though long distances. The low density, result of unproper sample size and methodology used during analyses. To test these hypothesis, a caatinga area was selected in the end of the dry season a hectare was chosen and in it¿s inside thirty 100 m2 squares were selected to count the adult trees and thirty 1m2 squares to count the fruit bank among the leaf litter. Our results showed a fruit density of 67,5 ± 90,17 fruits/m2 and 2 ± 2 trees/100m2. The predation rate was 20%, value similar to the ones found in arid and semiarid systems. A positive correlation was found between the adult tree density and i) the fruit density (rs = 0,5836, p < 0,05) and ii) the proportion of predated fruits (rs = 0,3665 , p < 0,05). The seed density was higher than the ones found in previous studies. Nevertheless, these results agregad dispersal and seed density estimate method.

Jatropha curcas crop is raising attention as an alternative crop for oil and biodiesel production. Despite the knowledge about their nutritional demand is essential for fertilizer recommendation, few research has been made on this issue, mainly on the use de zinc and copper. In order to measures these elements concentration in leaves and stems of Jatropha curcas plant two experiments were carried out in a greenhouse, in Campina Grande, Paraiba State, Brazil, from July to December 2007. The substrate for the pot plants was a 5 mm-sieved surface soil(Neossolo Quartzarênico). The experimental design was a completely randomized with three replications. The treatments of first and second experiment were composed of five levels of Zn (0; 2; 4; 6 and 8 mg dm-3) and five levels of Cu (0; 1; 2; 3; and 4 mg dm-3) which were applied at the time of planting. One plant of Jatropha curcas was grown per pot after thinning and was irrigated whenever necessary. At 80, 100 and 120 days after planting were collected the 4 th. leaves of each plant; at the end of the experimental period, all the leaves and stems were collected separately and in any plant material were determined the levels of zinc and copper. Under conditions that the experiments were carried out the treatments Zn influenced the content of the element found in the fourth leaf of the plant, collected at 100 days after sowing, and they deemed appropriate. The treatments with copper influenced in a positive manner the content of the element found in the fourth leaf collected 80, 100 and 120 DAS, however, the levels of the element at all times and in all parts of the plants were very low.

Different tillage systems cause changes in the chemical, physical and biological attributes of soil, requiring modifications in the requirements of fertilization and liming. The aim of this work was to assess the effects of tillage systems on chemical of a Yellow Latosol (Oxisols) Cohesive Dystrophic soil, cultivated with soybean in a single and intercropped system with Brachiaria decumbens. The experiment was conducted at the Center of Agricultural Sciences Federal University of Alagoas for five consecutive years. The treatments utilized were: conventional tillage of the soil, minimum cultivation and no-tillage. The systems of soil preparation not exerted influence on the pH at depths of 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm. Variables pH, OM, K, Ca + Mg and V% showed significant reduction of their average in terms of increased depth of sampling. The consortium soybean vs. B. decumbens causes significant increases in levels of potassium in layers at 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm.

The current model of economic development is based on a predatory and exculpatory vision, which discloses a way of being inhuman. Implying in changes of perception, thoughts and values, it has seen, that the form as the nature is explored in accordance with varies the ambient perception of the community or group. This work objectified to analyze the perception of Juazeirinho/PB agricultural communities referring the extinction of biodiversity of caatinga, aiming at to delineate sensitization strategies that make possible the valuation of this biome. The work portrays a carried through participant research with the communities Escurinha and Mendonça. For the collection of data direct comment was used, with visits to the communities, dynamics, half-structuralized interview and accomplishment of meeting. According to community some vegetal and animal species are disappearing. Between the animals they are cited: corduniz (Nothura sp), gato do mato (Felisa tigrina), gato maracajá (Felis wildi), mocó (Kerodon rupestris), preá (Gálea sprixii), Tejo (Família Teiidae), tatu peba (Euphractus sexcinctus), tatu verdadeiro (Dasypus novmcinctus) e o guaxinim (Procyon camcrivorus).Between vegetables they had been cited: Aveloz (Euphorbia gimnoclada), Imbuzeiro (Spondias tuberosa), Aroeira (Myracroduom unrudeuva), Caatingueira (Caesalpinia pyramidali), Baraúna (Schnopsis brasiliensis), Quixabeira (Bumelia sertorum), Mufumbo (Combretum leprosum). We can verify that it is necessary to promote changes in the ambient perception of the studied communities, thus allowing, to awake for problematic ambient, to point and to search solutions, that take the valuation of local biodiversity.

The effect of plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) on spore germination of arbuscular mycorrizal fungi (AMF) and the co-inoculation of these organisms on aclimatization of micropropagated pineapple cv. Pérolaseedlings were evaluated. The germination study was performed in a completely randomized design (CRD), factorial of 3 (G. albida, G. etunicatum, S. heterogama) × 4 (C210, RAB9, ENF10 and control) with five replicates, in plate with water-agar, where the bacteria and spores were inoculated and evaluated after 21 and 28 days. The co-inoculation study was performed in a CRD, factorial of 5 (G. albida, G. etunicatum, S. heterogama, mixture ofAMF and control) × 5 (C210, RAB9, ENF10, mixture of PGPB and control) and six replicates. At the 21th day RAB9 stimulated germination of G. albida in relation to the others PGPB; ENF10 stimulated the germination of G. etunicatum in relation to absence of bacteria, where the spores did not germinate; differences were not observed for S. heterogama. At the 28th day C210 inhibited the germination of G. albida. In both periods, G. albida showed higher germination rate. In absence of PGPB,G. albida improved growth more than G. etunicatum. The effect of G. albida on seedlings can be inhibited by C210 and by the bacterial mixture. It was confirmed that AMF germination can be stimulated or inhibited in presence of PGPB while the mycorrhizal symbiosis can be inhibited. In general co-inoculation of AMF and PGPB did not improve growth of pineapple cv. Pérola during the aclimatization period until the 90th day.

Maniçoba is a native forage species of the semi-arid region of NE Brazil that is widely used in animal rations. The seeds of this plant demonstrate dormancy, with slow and irregular germination, making propagation problematic. The present work examined methods to overcome seed dormancy in three species of maniçoba (Manihot glaziovii, M. pseudoglaziovii, and M. piauhyensis) that were stored in paper and plastic sacks. Seeds derived from different localities (Areia and Barra de Santa Rosa - PB; Araripina and Petrolina - PE) were mixed together, packed into paper or plastic sacks and stored for five months. Each month during the five-month experiment, samples of the seeds were either submitted to stratification, or not, followed by scarification, and then examined for emergence and vigor. Statistical analyses were made of a 2x2x5 factorial scheme (seeds that were and were not treated to overcome dormancy; packing material used; and storage periods) making all of the possible combinations, with four replicates of 25 seeds each. Of the seeds analyzed, those from Barra de Santa Rosa that had been treated to overcome dormancy exhibited the best physiological quality, independent of the packing material used during storage.

The interrill erosion can be the most harmful form water erosion, due it drags of the superficial layer of the soil, where it essential elements to the crop development. This work had the objective of evaluating the soil losses for different slopes and doses of residue of sugar-cane straw. The experiment was led at Soil Conservation laboratory of UFRPE, it was constituted in the evaluation of the water erosion obtained under simulate rains in experimental portions (1,0 m x 0,5 m x 0,1 m). It was observed that there was difference for the applied doses of 0,4 and 0,6 kg m-2 of soil cover, in relation to the bare soil, so much for the soil losses as for it rates them of soil detachment, demonstrating the effectiveness of the cover of the soil in the reduction of the erosion rates. With relationship to the applied slopes, therewas an increase of the soil losses and of the rates of soil detachment, with the elevation of the slopes among all the cover doses. The residues in the surface of the soil reduce the rates of soil detachment and they increase the resistance to the surface water, provoking decrease of the Numbers of Reynolds and of Froude, evidencing the interrill erosion. The laminar slow regime of surface water to attest the interrill erosion.

The study propagation of non-cultivated plants aims the species domestication, and its propagation can be carried out by seeds. However exist factors that affect the germination, among them there are the size, the weight of seed and the use of chemical substances. The present work was carried out with the objective to evaluate the influence of the weight of seeds and chemical promoters on the seed germination of Hyptis pectinata. It was used seeds collected and classified of sambacaitá in blower machine, which had been placed to germinate on Petri dishes, and kept in germination chamber at 27ºC under constant light. The experimental design was the completely randomized in factorial scheme 2x4, referring two chemical seeds classification llow and heavy seeds) and three substances (GA3, KNO3 and PEG) and the control, with four replications of 50 seeds each. The variables analized were percentage, speed germination index and mean square for time of germination. The statistical analysis was carried out using the software Sanest, and the average values compared by the Test of Tukey 5%. The different classification of seeds by weight present influence on the physiological quality of sambacaitá's seeds. Heavy seeds germinate in higher percentage, and faster speed, and short time. The chemical treatment with KNO3 and GA3 increases the germination percentage, but for the speed germination index and germination do not present significant difference. The use of PEG increases the mean square time of germination of sambacaitá's seeds.

With the objective to determine the influence of the dehydration and of the size and/or weight on germination percentage and the vigor of jussara palm seeds (Euterpe edulis Mart.), 10 individuals' ripe fruits, picked in the Experimental Station of Ubatuba (IAC) they were classified by size in 5 sieves of circular sieve: 26/64¿ (10,31mm), 28/64" (11,11mm), 30/64" (11,90mm), 32/64" (12,69mm) and 34/64" (13,49mm). It was determined, the medium weight of the classified seeds. The quality of the seeds was evaluated through the following parameters: water content of the seeds; germination and vigor (first germination counting). It was evaluated the drying speed of different seed sizes for 48 hours, in dry chamber. The sizes of 28/64", 30/64" and 32/64" represented 98,7% of the total weight of the harvested seeds and showed similar drying speed, percentage of germination and vigor. With the increase of the drying period, the smaller seeds (28/64") had their germination less affected them the intermediate (30/64") and bigger sized seeds (32/64").
