VIABILIDADE AGRONÔMICA DE POLICULTIVOS DE RÚCULA/CENOURA/ALFACE SOB QUANTIDADES DE FLOR-DE-SEDA E DENSIDADES POPULACIONAIS

ABSTRACT: This work aimed to study the agronomic feasibility of the arugula (A) and lettuce (L) bicropping intercropped with carrot (C) under different amounts of roostertree incorporated into the soil and proportions of population densities among component crops in semiarid conditions of the Rio Grande do Norte state. The experimental design was randomized complete block with four replications, with the treatments arranged in a factorial 4 x 4. The first factor was constituted by the amounts of roostertree incorporated into the soil (10, 25, 40 and 55 t ha-1 on a dry basis) and the second factor by the proportions of population densities of the component crops in polyculture [(50A-50C-50L (%); 40A-50C-40L (%); 30A-50C-30L (%) and 20A-50C-20L (%) of the recommended populations in sole crops - RPSC)]. The leafy vegetable crops were planted in two cultivations during the carrot cycle, and a joint analysis was carried out involving the two cultivations in the 4 x 4 factorial scheme. The characteristics evaluated were green mass yield (arugula), dry mass of shoots and productivity (lettuce), total, commercial and classified productivity of carrot roots. The modified monetary advantage was used to evaluate the agronomic feasibility of intercropping systems. The use of roostertree as green manure proved viable in the polyculture of arugula, carrot, and lettuce. The major agronomic performance of the arugula, carrot and lettuce in the polyculture was registered in the amount of 55 t ha-1 of roostertree incorporated into the soil. The population density proportions of arugula, carrot and lettuce of 50A-50C-50L (%) of the RPSC were those that provided the greatest agronomic feasibility of the polycultures. | RESUMO: Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a viabilidade agronômica do bicultivo de rúcula (R) e alface consorciado (A) com cenoura (C) sob diferentes quantidades de flor-de-seda incorporadas ao solo e de proporções de densidades populacionais entre as culturas componentes no semiárido do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos completos casualizados com quatro repetições, com os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial 4 x 4. O primeiro fator foi constituído pelas quantidades de flor-de-seda incorporadas ao solo (10, 25, 40 e 55 t ha-1 em base seca) e o segundo fator pelas proporções de densidades populacionais das culturas componentes em policultivo [(50R-50C-50A (%); 40R-50C-40A (%); 30R-50C-30A(%) e 20R-50C-20A (%) das populações recomendadas em cultivos solteiro - PRCS)]. As folhosas foram plantadas em dois cultivos no ciclo da cenoura e uma análise conjunta foi realizada envolvendo os dois cultivos da rúcula e da alface e o fatorial 4 x 4. As características avaliadas foram: rendimento de massa verde (rúcula); massa seca da parte aérea e produtividade (alface); produtividade total; comercial; e classificada de raízes de cenoura. A vantagem monetária corrigida foi usada para avaliar a viabilidade agronômica dos sistemas consorciados. O uso da flor-de-seda como adubo verde se mostrou viável no policultivo de rúcula, cenoura e alface. O melhor desempenho agronômico do policultivo de rúcula, cenoura e alface foi registrado na quantidade de 55 t ha-1 de flor-de-seda incorporada ao solo. As proporções de densidades populacionais de rúcula, cenoura e alface de 50-50-50 (%) das PRCS foram as que proporcionaram a maior viabilidade agronômica dos policultivos.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the sowing periods in production, productivity component and physiological quality of seeds of three soybean cultivars (TMG133RR, P98Y70RR and NS7670RR) in Orthic Quartzarenic Neosoil in the cerrado region. The design used was a randomized block a factorial scheme design with four repetitions, and each plot with useful space consisted of three rows of four meters length, spaced at 0.45 meters. Field evaluations were the final stand, the height of the plants, height of the first pod insertion, the mass of 100 seeds and productivity. Already in the lab seeds were evaluated for germination and vigor (first germination count, emergency, emergence speed index, length and dry mass of the aerial part of the plant and roots, electrical conductivity, accelerated aging and tetrazolium test). It concludes that it is possible to use Orthic Quartzarenic Neosoils, located in the Cerrado region at altitudes higher than 600 m, in years and places with good water distribution in the spring-summer seasons, for grain and soybeans production, but as a first goal, the crop should be sown in the first 20 days of November otherwise it should take place in early December. | RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de épocas de semeadura na produção, componentes de produtividade e qualidade fisiológica de sementes de três cultivares de soja (TMG133RR, P98Y70RR e NS7670RR) em Neossolo Quartzarênico Órtico na região do cerrado. O delineamento utilizado foi em blocos casualizados num esquema fatorial com quatro repetições, sendo cada parcela com área útil constituída por três linhas com quatro metros de comprimento, no espaçamento de 0,45 m. As avaliações no campo foram estande final, altura de plantas, altura de inserção da primeira vagem, massa de 100 sementes e produtividade. No laboratório, as sementes foram avaliadas quanto à porcentagem de germinação e vigor (primeira contagem de germinação, emergência, índice de velocidade de emergência, comprimento e massa seca de parte aérea e raiz, condutividade elétrica, envelhecimento acelerado e tetrazólio). Conclui-se que é possível a utilização de Neossolos Quartzarênicos Órticos, localizados em região de cerrado com altitude superior a 600 m, em anos e locais com boa distribuição hídrica na primavera-verão, para produção de grãos e sementes de soja, sendo que no primeiro objetivo, a cultura deve ser semeada nos primeiros 20 dias de novembro e no segundo caso, essa deve ocorrer no inicio de dezembro.

RESUMO: Este trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar e avaliar sete modelos de tubos emissores não regulados e de fluxo turbulento comercializados no mercado brasileiro. A caracterização dos gotejadores seguiu os procedimentos das normas NBR ISO 9261. O experimento foi conduzido na Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Campus Botucatu, Departamento de Engenharia Rural. Para a realização do ensaio foram retirados ao acaso, de cada bobina, segmentos contendo 25 emissores. Na avaliação das características hidráulicas e técnicas dos gotejadores foram determinados os seguintes parâmetros: coeficiente de variação de fabricação; coeficientes da equação característica do gotejador; espessura da parede do tubo gotejador; diâmetro interno do tubo; espaçamento entre emissores; resistência à pressão com água na temperatura ambiente e a temperatura de 40 oC; resistência do tubo a tração com tensão de 160 N e 180 N; e ensaio de envelhecimento precoce. As análises dos tubos gotejadores mostraram um coeficiente de variação de fabricação inferior a 0,056 para todos os gotejadores (0,07 é limite máximo segundo a norma). Os expoentes m da equação pressão versus vazão variaram de 0,431 a 0,575, classificando-os como não autocompensantes. Em relação a espessura da parede, o diâmetro interno dos tubos e o espaçamento entre os emissores foram constatados que todos os valores medidos estão dentro do exigido pela norma. Pelos resultados obtidos é possível afirmar que todos os produtos ensaiados ofertados no mercado brasileiro apresentaram excelente desempenho e qualidade. | ABSTRACT: This study aims to characterize and evaluate seven models of turbulent flow nonself-compensating drippers available in the Brazilian market. The characterization of the emitters followed the procedures of the standards NBR ISO 9261. The experiment was conducted at UNESP University Estadual Paulista, Botucatu Campus, Department of Rural Engineering. For the execution of the test one randomly took from each coil, segments containing 25 emitters. In the evaluation of hydraulic and technical characteristics of emitters were determined the following parameters: coefficient of manufacturing variation, coefficients of the characteristic equation of the emitter, thickness of the tube wall, internal diameter, spacing between emitters, water pressure resistance at ambient temperature and 40 oC, the tensile strength of the tube with a tension of 160 N and 180 N, and premature aging testing. The analysis of the drip tapes showed a coefficient of manufacturing variation of less than 0.056 for all emitters. The exponents (m) of the equation pressure versus flow rate ranged from 0.431 to 0.575, classifying them as nonself-compensating. About the wall thickness, the internal diameter of the drip tapes and the spacing between emitters were found out that all measured values are within the required standard. From the results obtained, it can be stated that all products tested and available in the Brazilian market showed satisfactory performance and quality.

RESUMO: Objetivou-se com o presente estudo avaliar o efeito da secagem sobre as características físicas dos frutos de amendoim. Os frutos foram utilizados com um teor de água inicial de aproximadamente 0,63 decimal bs e submetidos à secagem com temperatura de 40 ºC. Foram determinadas as propriedades físicas, quais sejam: massa especifica aparente; massa específica unitária; porosidade; massa de mil grãos; esfericidade; circularidade; área projetada; área superficial; e a relação superfície/volume. Com base nos resultados encontrados conclui-se que a redução do teor de água proporcionou redução em todas as propriedades físicas dos frutos de amendoim, com exceção da relação superfície/volume, que tiveram seus valores aumentados com a redução do teor de água. A esfericidade, assim como a circularidade dos frutos de amendoim, tiveram seus valores reduzidos durante o processo de secagem. | ABSTRACT: The present work was accomplished with the objective of evaluating the drying effect on the peanut fruits physical properties. Peanut fruits with an initial moisture content of 0.63 decimal db were dried with a temperature of 40 ºC. Bulk density, true density, porosity, thousand-grain weight, sphericity, circularity, projected area, surface area and surface/volume ratio physical properties were determined. Based on these results, it is concluded that reducing the moisture content promotes reduction in all the physical properties of peanut fruits, except the surface/volume ratio that have their values increased with the moisture content reduction. The circularity as sphericity of the peanut fruit values was reduced during the drying process.

RESUMO: Objetivou-se comparar por meio do Fator de Bayes (FB), modelos para estimar componentes de covariância, parâmetros genéticos e valores genéticos para os pesos ajustados aos 205 (P205), 365 (P365) e 550 (P550) dias de idade em animais da raça Tabapuã, criados a pasto no Nordeste do Brasil. Foram utilizadas informações de 26.838 animais no período entre 1975 a 2007 provenientes do controle de desenvolvimento ponderal da Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Zebu (ABCZ). Os componentes de covariância e parâmetros genéticos foram estimados pela abordagem bayesiana em análises uni e bicaracterísticas utilizando-se o programa GIBBS3F90. O modelo completo proporcionou melhor ajuste para a estimativa dos parâmetros genéticos para as características P205 e P365. Quanto à característica P550, o modelo que proporcionou o melhor ajuste foi o que não incluiu o efeito de ambiente permanente. As tendências genéticas de efeito direto foram significativas para as características P205, P365 e P550, correspondendo a incrementos de 2,67 kg, 7,35 kg e 8,32 kg, respectivamente, durante os 32 anos avaliados. As tendências fenotípicas foram significativas apenas para as características P205 e P365, correspondendo a incrementos de 26,82 kg e 22,42 kg, respectivamente. As correlações genéticas entre o peso aos 205, 365 e 550 dias de idade foram de alta magnitude (P205P365=0,90; P205P550=0,90 e P365P550=0,98), podendo-se obter ganhos genéticos via resposta correlacionada para os pesos aos 365 e 550 dias de idade ao selecionar o P205. | ABSTRACT: The objective was to compare models by Bayes factor (BF) to estimate the (co)variance components, genetic parameters and genetic values for the adjusted weights at 205 (W205), 365 (W365) and 550 (W550) days of age in Tabapuã animals reared on pasture in the Brazilian Northeast. Information about 26,838 cattle born in the period from 1975 to 2007 originally from the weight-development-control system of the Brazilian Association of Zebu Farmers (Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Zebu, ABCZ) was used. The (co)variance components and genetic parameters were estimated by the Bayesian approach, in single- and two-trait analysis, using the GIBBS3F90 software. The full model provided the best fit to estimate the breeding value for W205 and W365 characteristics parameters. For trait W550, the model that provided the best fit was the one that did not include the effect of permanent environment. Genetic trends of direct effect were significant for the W205, W365 and W550 features, corresponding to increments of 2.67 kg, 7.35 kg and 8.32 kg, respectively, during the 32 years evaluated. Phenotypic trends were significant only for W205 and W365 characteristics corresponding to increments of 26.82 kg and 22.42 kg, respectively. The genetic correlations between weight at 205, 365 and 550 days of age were of high magnitude (P205P365 = 0.90, = 0.90 and P205P550 P365P550 = 0.98); you can obtain genetic gains via correlated response to the weights at 365 and 550 days old when selecting for W205.

ABSTRACT: The phenotypic manifestations of genetic knowledge of important agronomic traits in plants is an activity of great importance, whose results are widely used in plant breeding. The objective was to study the type of genetic segregation that occurs when crossing a dwarf genotype versus indeterminate growth habit genotype. Their plant was found growing spontaneously in Piracicaba (SP), on-site disposal of fruits per tomatoes producers along with normal plants. Seeds of both plants were harvested separately for baseline and coded as follows: a plant with a normal phenotype (FN) and plant with atypical phenotype with characteristics of dwarfism (FA). The methodology consisted of biparental and reciprocal backcrosses of the F1 to the parent FA and obtained the F2 generation. The data derived from the plant count populations obtained (F1, F2 and backcrosses) were tested using the χ2 according to the expected frequency and observed the normal phenotype (FN) and plant with atypical phenotype with characteristics of dwarfism (FA), under the hypothesis Mendelian segregation 3:1, obtained by monogenic inheritance. From the results, it can be concluded that the phenotype observed in the plant in this study is recessive genetic origin can be inserted into other plants by crossing. | RESUMO: O conhecimento genético de manifestações fenotípicas de características de importância agronômica em vegetais é uma atividade de grande importância, cujos resultados são amplamente utilizados por fitomelhoristas. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estudar o tipo de segregação genética que ocorre ao se cruzar um genótipo anão versus genótipo de hábito de crescimento indeterminado. A referida planta foi encontrada vegetando espontaneamente no município de Piracicaba (SP) em local de descarte de frutos por tomaticultores juntamente com as plantas normais. As sementes de ambas as plantas foram colhidas separadamente para início do estudo e codificadas da seguinte forma: planta com fenótipo normal (FN) e planta com fenótipo atípico com características de porte anão (FA). A metodologia constou de cruzamentos biparentais recíprocos e retrocruzamentos da geração F1 com o genitor FA e obtenção de geração F2. Os dados obtidos oriundos da contagem de plantas das populações obtidas (F1, F2 e F1RC1) foram submetidos ao teste de χ2 de acordo com a frequência esperada e observada do fenótipo normal (FN) e planta com fenótipo atípico com características de porte anão (FA), tendo como hipótese uma segregação mendeliana 3:1, obtida para herança monogênica. Pelos resultados obtidos foi possível concluir que o fenótipo observado na planta no presente estudo é de origem genética recessiva, podendo ser transmito para outras plantas via cruzamento.

F. graminearum is the main causal agent of Head blight in cereals in Argentina. This is a disease that develops during the host floral state. When the reproductive structures in the host are invaded, grains may be shriveled and reduced in weight, causing a decrease in yield. Physiological diagnostic techniques on seeds detect the damages produced by this fungus could be used to take decisions related to the quality of seed lots. The objective of this study was to evaluate the possible physiological damage caused by F. graminearum isolates in soybean seeds and wheat caryopsis. Seeds and caryopsis were obtained from plants exposed to fungal infection and were evaluated under two situations: artificial inoculations under greenhouse conditions and natural infection from fields of Santa Fe Province (33°43’22’’S; 62°14’46’’W). Seed weight, topographical tetrazolium test, standard germination test, electrical conductivity test and X-ray test were performed in soybean seeds and wheat caryopsis from each treatment. Differential behaviors of F. graminearum strains in susceptible soybean and wheat cultivars under greenhouse conditions revealed specific interactions among soybean and wheat genotypes with this fungus. F. graminearum infection in susceptible cultivars under greenhouse conditions produced a significant decrease in the physiological quality of soybean seed and wheat caryopsis. These behaviors were not detected under field conditions in the evaluated locations. Sorghum is grown in areas and environmental situations very dry and/or too hot, where produc- tivity of other cereals is uneconomical. Aiming to evaluate the production of three sorghum hybrids, because of potassium and management systems, grown in Oxisol with low productive capacity, an experiment was con- ducted in the field, in the area of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia/UFRA, Belém campus The experi- mental design was randomized in blocks, arranged in a factorial 4 x 3 x 2 with four replications. The factors were: four doses of potassium (50, 100, 200 and 300 kg ha - 1 ) as KCl, three sorghum hybrids (Qualimax, Volumax and AG 2005 - E) and two tillage systems (no - till and conventional). The tillage produced a higher shoot dry weight of sorghum, and the hybrid and Volumax and Qualimax had incomes above the AG2005 - E. The contents of the elements N, P, K, Ca and Mg in the leaves of sorghum grown with tillage were higher than those found in conventional tillage. Doses of potassium resulted in greater increase in MSPA tillage using 40% less potash fertilizer with the conventional system.

Desmanthus is a genus of forage legumes with potential to improve pastures and livestock produc-tion on clay soils of dry tropical and subtropical regions such as the existing in Brazil and Australia. Despite this patterns of natural or enforced after-ripening of Desmanthus seeds have not been well established. Four year old seed banks of nine Desmanthus genotypes at James Cook University were accessed for their patterns of seed softe-ning in response to a range of temperatures. Persistent seed banks were found to exist under all of the studied ge-notypes. The largest seeds banks were found in the genotypes CPI 78373 and CPI 78382 and the smallest in the genotypes CPI’s 37143, 67643, and 83563. An increase in the percentage of softened seeds was correlated with higher temperatures, in two patterns of response: in some accessions seeds were not significantly affected by tempe-ratures below 80º C; and in others, seeds become soft when temperature rose to as little as 60 ºC. At 80 °C the heat started to depress germination. High seed production of Desmanthus associated with dependence of seeds on eleva-ted temperatures to softening can be a very important strategy for plants to survive in dry tropical regions.

The non-carcass components are configured in additional source of income for sheep producers. This study aimed to evaluate the non-carcass components in Morada Nova hair sheep fed hay or Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp.) or Maniçoba (Manihot pseudoglaziovii Pax & Hoffman) hay. The animals were males, initially weighing 18.86 ± 6.48 kg were housed in individual and slaughtered at 58 days of confinement. The Tifton 85 diet resulted in higher (P<0.05) spleen weights (0.05 kg), liver (0.45 kg) and kidneys (0.08 kg). Largest total weights of organs were also obtained in the diet Tifton 85. There was no difference between diets for weight viscera. The skin showed higher weight for animals fed Tifton 85 hay. The diets did not affect the weights or buchada and panelada yields. Replacement of Tifton 85 hay by Maniçoba hay in Morada Nova hair sheep diet, reduces the weight of the organs and skin, but does not influence the buchada and panelada weights or yields.
