This studies were carried out to improve the silk yield of cocoon and reeling efficiency by pre-treatment and chemical agents on the cocoon cooking process. In pre-treatment of cocoon cooking test, it was disclosed that the raw silk yield of cocoon as well as reeling efficiency could be improved by use Na + H type soft water in soaking and low temperature permeating part of cocoon cooking machine, after water-suction into cocoon and dehydration, as compared to these in the control. On the other hand, in chemical agents treatment for cocoon cooking, it was also revealed that raw silk yield of cocoon and reeling efficiency were improved by calcium chloride or carbonic acid gas treatment for soaking and low temperature permeating part of cocoon cooking machine, as compared with the conventional cooking method
