Major food crops of Uganda are discussed, highlighting their importance, production constraints and production potential. High priority food crops on which research is being done include; millet, maize, sweet potato, cassava, bananas and beans. Medium priority food crops are; sorghum, rice and Irish potatoes. Low priority food crops, with no research, such as wheat, are mentioned. Crops with a potential for collaborative research with national agricultural research centres are identified and recommended
