[Salmonellas and Listeria monocytogenes - an overview of findings in foods and raw materials in Slovakia in 1999]

The frequency of occurrence of Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes in different food samples was analyzed by Slovak veterinary services in 1999. Salmonella spp. was isolated in 0.16 % of 67,346 food samples, raw materials and smears. The most frequent species was Salmonella enteritidis found mainly in poultry meat and products. Listeria monocytogenes was isolated in 1,82 % of 12,065 samples. It occurred mainly in raw milk.
