Genetic Diversity among Waxy Corn Inbred Lines Revealed by CACTA-TD Markers

CACTA is a class 2 transposon superfamily found exclusively in plants. In this study, we have applied CACTA-TD technique to study the genetic diversity among 90 waxy corn inbred lines. While CACTA-TD fragments ranged approximately from 100 to 650 bp in size, the fragments in the range of 100-500 bp showed high profiles of polymorphisms. Analysis of the 90 inbred lines with 5 CACTA-TD primer combinations detected a total of 204 fragments, of which 165 (80.9%) were polymorphic among the inbreds.
