Actual content of iodine in food-stuffs of animal origin from the view of their safety and biological value

Iodine concentration was assessed by the Sandell-Kolthoff method in 226 bulk samples of fresh cow milk from 226 farms covering 66 districts, in 84 samples of breast and leg muscles of broilers from 7 farms in 4 districts, in 108 samples of muscles (m. gracilis) pigs from 18 farms in 10 districts and in 513 eggs from layers in large scale breeds and in a small farm in the Czech Republic. The samples were collected during the period from August 2003 to September 2004.
