There is the method represented in the article for frost resistance determination for Winter Wheat (soft and hard) varieties by experts’ assessment of varieties submitted for Official Variety Studying. Визначення генетичних ефектів ПЖТ 1AL.1RS і 1ВL.1RS на врожайність, елементи продуктивності рослин та показники якості рекомбінантних ліній, установлення ефективності використання кожної з ПЖТ для створення досконаліших за цими ознаками сортів пшениці м’якої озимої в умовах ґрунтово-повітряних посух у степовій зоні України та розроблення селекційних заходівів зменшення негативних ефектів транслокацій для отримання генотипів з високими показниками якості зерна цінної і сильної пшениці. Методи. Польові експерименти, внутрішньовидова гібридизація, оцінювання селекційного матеріалу в польових умовах, методи лабораторного визначення показників хлібопекарських якостей зерна, електрофорез запасних білків, статистичні. Результати. У посушливих умовах Півдня України на великому експериментальному матеріалі селекційного процесу виявлено позитивний вплив ПЖТ 1AL.1RS на врожайність рекомбінантних ліній та основні елементи продуктивності рослин, що проявляється на фоні одночасного позитивного ефекту цієї транслокації на посухо- й жаростійкість. Використання в селекції пшениці ПЖТ 1ВL.1RS у цьому регіоні є менш перспективним заходом. Установлено, що введення шляхом гібридизації в місцевий генофонд пшениці м’якої озимої пшенично-житніх транслокацій 1АL.1RS та 1ВL.1RS змінює показники якості зерна. Зокрема, вміст білка, зазвичай, має тенденцію до підвищення, при цьому він суттєвіше зростає завдяки транслокації 1ВL.1RS. Показано, що частота отримання рекомбінантних ліній, які поєднують високу врожайність та мають добрі хлібопекарські властивості не нижче цінних і сильних пшениць, досить низька (1,7–6,1%). Однак, переваги за цим показником мають інтрогресивні лінії з ПЖТ 1АL.1RS. Використовуючи комбінування в процесі гібридизації ПЖТ з алелями з високим позитивним впливом на хлібопекарські властивості, а також створюючи гетерогенність у складі генотипів з ПЖТ і без них, можна спрямовано зменшувати негативний вплив ПЖТ на якість зерна пшениці м’якої озимої і створювати сорти з параметрами якості цінних і сильних пшениць. Висновки. Отримані результати дають підстави стверджувати, що використання ПЖТ 1AL.1RS є перспективним напрямом подальшого селекційного нарощування генетичного потенціалу врожайності сортів пшениці м’якої озимої в посушливих умовах Півдня України. У результаті повного циклу селекційного процесу на матеріалі з ПЖТ 1АL.1RS, створена серія сортів пшениці м’якої озимої – ‘Житниця одеська’, ‘Октава одеська’, ‘Ліга одеська’, ‘Дума одеська’, ‘Версія одеська’, які забезпечують підвищення врожайності на 10–15% порівняно зі стандартами та занесені до Державних реєстрів сортів рослин України та Молдови. | Purpose. To determine the genetic effects of WRT 1AL.1RS and 1BL.1RS on the yield, plant productivity elements and quality indices of recombinant lines, to determine the effectiveness of using each of the WRT for creating more perfect varieties of soft winter wheat in these traits under soil-air drought in the steppe zone of Ukraine and development of breeding techniques to reduce the negative effects of translocation to produce genotypes with high quality indices of valuable and strong wheat grain. Methods. Field experiments, intraspecific hybridization, evaluation of breeding material in the field, methods of laboratory determination of baking quality indices of grain, electrophoresis of spare proteins, statistical. Results. Under arid conditions of the South of Ukraine on the large experimental material of breeding process, a positive effect of 1AL.1RS on the yield of recombinant lines and the main elements of plant productivity were determined, which was manifested against the background of simultaneous positive effect of this transposition on the drought and heat tolerance. The use of 1BL.1RS in wheat breeding in this region is less promising technique. It has been determined that introduction of 1AL.1RS, 1BL.1RS translocations into local gene pool of soft winter wheat by hybridization changes the grain quality indices. In particular, the protein content tends to increase more significantly under the influence of 1BL.1RS translocation. It has been shown that the frequency of obtaining recombinant lines which combine high yield and sufficient level of baking properties (not lower than valuable and strong wheat) is quite low (1,7–6,1%), but introgressive lines with 1AL.1RS have the advantages in this parameter. Using such genetic factors as hybridization combining WRT with alleles with high positive effect on baking properties, and also creating heterogeneity in the composition of genotypes with and without WRT, one can purposefully reduce the negative impact of WRT on the quality of soft winter wheat grain and create varieties with quality parameters of valuable and strong wheat. Conclusions. In general, the results achieved give reason to assert that the use of WRT 1AL.1RS is a promising direction for further breeding increase of genetic capacity of soft winter wheat varieties in the arid conditions of the South of Ukraine. As a result of full cycle of breeding process on the material with 1AL.1RS WRT a series of varieties of soft winter wheat ‘Zhytnytsia odeska’, ‘Oktava odeska’, ‘Liha odeska’, ‘Duma odeska’, ‘Versiia odeska’, providing 10 – 15% increase in yield to standards was created and included in the State Register of Ukraine and Moldova.

Review of the main achievements of the Wheat Breeding and Seed ProductionDepartment in the Plant Breeding and Genetic Institute – National Centre of Seed and Cultivar Investigation in the developing theoretical principles of breeding and creation of winter wheat varieties of different types during 100-year (1916–2016) period of breeding programs realization. Results. The main theoretical, methodical developments and breeding achievements of Wheat Breeding and Seed Production Department during 100-year (1916–2016) history have been considered. In the course of the Department activity, the research and metho­dology grounds of bread winter wheat breeding and seed production have been laid, 9 stages of breeding programs development have been accomplished. As a result, more than 130 varieties of different types have been created, 87 of them have been released in some periods or registered in the State registers of plants varieties of Ukraine and other countries and grown in the total sowing area about 220 million hectares.

Методи. Польові експерименти, внутрішньовидова гібридизація, оцінювання селекційного матеріалу в польових умовах, методи лабораторного визначення показників хлібопекарських якостей зерна, електрофорез запасних білків, статистичні. The new rules formulated in Article 59 of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN) will cause numerous, often undesirable, name changes, when only phylogenetically defined clades are named. Our task is to name fungal taxa and not just clades. Two suggestions are made here that may help to alleviate some disadvantages of the new system. (1) Officially an epithet coined in a list-demoted genus that is older than the oldest one available in the list-accepted genus would have to be recombined in the accepted genus. We recommend that individual authors and committees establishing lists of protected names should generally not recombine older epithets from a demoted genus into the accepted genus, when another one from pre-2013 is available in that genus. (2) Because the concepts of correlated teleomorph and anamorph genera are often incongruent, enforced congruence leads to a loss of information. Retaining the most suitable generic name is imperative, even when this is subordinated to another, list-accepted, generic name. Some kind of cryptic dual generic nomenclature is bound to persist. We therefore strongly recommend the retention of binomials in genera where they are most informative. With these recommendations, the upheaval of fungal nomenclature ensuing from the loss of the former Art. 59 can be reduced to an unavoidable minimum.

З’ясувати спільні батьківські компоненти, що використовувалися для створення сортів троянд із сланкою формою крони куща, у поєднанні з ознаками ремонтантності, а також розробити узагальнюючу схему походження сортів ґрунтопокривних троянд з колекції Національного ботанічного саду ім. М. М. Гришка НАН України (НБС).Методи. Аналітичні та графічні. За методикою С. Г. Саакова та Д. А Риєксти складено родоводи зі схемами [15].Результати. Визначено, що всі досліджувані сорти ґрунтопокривних троянд мали у складі родоводу види секції Synstylae DC.: R. sempervirens L., R. wichurana Creˆp. та (або) R. setigera Michx. Також до родоводу всіх досліджуваних ремонтантних сортів (‘Magic Meidiland’, ‘Anadia’, ‘Candia Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Heideschnee’, ‘Nature Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Red Fairy’, ‘Swany’, ‘Scarlet Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Blanc Meillandeˆcor’) входили сорти троянд груп Флорібунда та Гібриди троянди мускусної, які відсутні у неремонтантних сортів (‘Rote Max Graf’, ‘Nozomi’).Висновки. Серед батьківських компонентів у родоводах досліджених сортів ґрунтопокривних троянд, які забезпечили специфічну для них сланку форму крони, були види роду Rosa L. секції Synstylae: R. wichurana, R. sempervirens, R. setigera. Ознаку ремонтантності всі досліджувані сорти набували внаслідок схрещування з сортами: групи Флорібунда, походження яких пов’язано з ремонтантними видами R. chinensis Jacq. та R. odorata (Andrews) Sweet секції Chinenis DC. (Indicae Thory), R. rugosa Thunb. секції Cinnamomeae DC., що має факультативне повторне цвітіння та групи Гібридів троянди мускусної (Hybrid Musk), походження яких пов’язано з ремонтантним видом R. moschata Herrm. Сорти, які були створені від комбінації лише неремонтантних видів R. wichurana, R. setigera, R. sempervirens з R. rugosa були неремонтантними (‘Rote Max Graf’, ‘Nozomi’). Візуалізацію взаємозв’язків між батьківськими компонентами різних ієрархічних рівнів та досліджуваним сортом представлено в дендрограмах. Розроблено узагальнюючу схему походження сортів ґрунтопокривних троянд, яка дала можливість виявити взаємозв’язки між ремонтантними та неремонтантними сортами через спільні батьківські компоненти, що забезпечили ключову ознаку групи – сланку форму крони куща. Результати проведеного дослідження можуть бути використані як підґрунтя для виокремлення та надання офіційного статусу групі ґрунтопокривних троянд в уніфікованій міжнародній класифікації троянд, що знаходиться на етапі розробки. | Purpose. Find out the common parental components used for creating rose cultivars with a procumbent shrub crown shape in combination with the signs of remontance, as well as develop a generalized pattern of the origin of groundcover rose cultivars from the collection of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NBS).Methods. Analytical and graphic. Genealogies with schemes were drawn according to S. G. Saakov and D. A. Riexta method.Results. It was determined that all the studied cultivars of groundcover roses had species of the Synstylae DC. section as part of the pedigree: Rosa sempervirens L., R. wichurana Creˆp., and (or) R. setigera Michx. Also, the pedigree of all studied remontant cultivars (‘Magic Meidiland’, ‘Anadia’, ‘Candia Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Heideschnee’, ‘Nature Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Red Fairy’, ‘Swany’, ‘Scarlet Meillandeˆcor’, ‘Blanc Meillandeˆcor’) included rose cultivars of Floribunda groups and Muskusnaya rose hybrids, which are absent in non-remontant cultivars (‘Rote Max Graf’, ‘Nozomi’).Conclusions. Among the parental components in the pedigrees of the studied varieties of groundcover roses, which provided a procumbent crown shape specific to them, there were species of the genus Rosa L. of the Synstylae section: R. wichurana; R. sempervirens; R. setigera. All studied cultivars acquire the sign of remontance by crossing with cultivars of the Floribund group, whose origin is associated with the remontant species: R. chinensis Jacq. and R. odorata (Andrews) Sweet section of Chinenis DC. (Indicae Thory); due to R. rugosa Thunb., section of Cinnamomeae DC., with optional repeated flowering, and also due to cultivars of the Hybrid Musk rose group, which origin is associated with the remontant species R. moschata Herrm. Cultivars created from a combination of only non-remontant species R. wichurana, R. setigera, R. sempervirens with R. rugosa were non-remontant (‘Rote Max Graf’,‘Nozomi’). Visualization of relationships between parental components of different hierarchical le­vels and the studied variety is presented in the dendrograms. A generalized scheme of the origin of groundcover roses cultivars has been developed, which allowed to identify the relationship between remontant and non-remontant cultivars through common parental components that provided the key feature of the group – the procumbent shape of the crown of a shrub. The results of the study can be used as a basis for highlighting and granting official status to a group of groundcover roses in the unified International Classification of Roses, which is under development. | Цель. Выяснить общие родительские компоненты, использовавшиеся для создания сортов роз со стелющейся формой кроны куста, в сочетании с признаками ремонтантности, а также разработать обобщающую схему происхождения сортов почвопокровных роз коллекции Национального ботанического сада имени Н. Н. Гришко НАН Украины (НБС).Методы. Аналитические и графические. По методике С. Г. Саакова и Д. А. Риексты [15] составлены родословные со схемами.Результаты. Признак ремонтантности все исследуемые сорта приобретают за счет скрещивания с сортами группы Флорибунда, происхождение которых связано с ремонтантными видам: R. chinensis Jacq. и R. odorata (Andrews) Sweet секции Chinenis DC. (Indicae Thory); R. rugosa Thunb. секции Cinnamomeae DC. с факультативным пов­торным цветением и сортов группы Гибридов розы мус­кусной (Hybrid Musk), происхождение которых связано с ремонтантным видом R. moschata Herrm. Сорта, которые были созданы от комбинации только неремонтантних видов R. wichurana, R. setigera, R. sempervirens с R. rugosa, были неремонтантными (‘Rote Max Graf’, ‘Nozomi’). С помощью дендрограммы проведено визуализацию установленных взаимосвязей между родительскими компонентами различных иерархических уровней и исследуемым сортом. Разработана обобщающая схема происхождения сортов почвопокровных роз, которая дает возможность установить взаимосвязи между ремонтантными и неремонтантными сортами через общие родительские компоненты, которые обеспечили ключевой признак группы –стелющуюся форму кроны куста. Результаты проведенного исследования могут быть использованы как основа для выделения и предоставления официального статуса группе почвопокровных роз в унифицированной международной классификации роз, которая находится на этапе разработки.

Organizing measures in the scope of Ukraine are given, that provide the procedure of the state registration and their rights for fruit, berry, nuciferous species and vine. The expediency of the state registration of fruit and berry crops is grounded as a whole in Ukraine on the basis of the experience of the leading world’s countries. Powers of the State Service on Right Protection for Plant Varieties, Ukrainian Institute of Pant Variety Examination and Applicant were determined in the procedure of the registration of plant varieties and their rights for fruit, berry, nuciferous crops and vine.

Purpose. To select alien genes among those identified and described in special literature that are resistant to brown rust and introgressed in Triticum aestivum L. sources, determine their origin and prospects of use in breeding practice.Results. Soft spring wheat as the basic cereal crop belongs to the group of plants cultivated in controlled conditions for a long time. During the vegetation period it can be adversely affected by pathogens, so the search for sources of resistance to them is a priority task of breeding. Brown rust is one of the most widespread and harmful diseases of wheat. It causes significant yield losses and deterioration of grain quality. The population of the pathogen Puccinia recondita is highly adaptive. High variability of the fungus virulence leads to the accumulation of pathogens which can destroy genes of wheat resistance. The most environmentally safe method to control disease is creating resistant varieties. The effectiveness of breeding for resistance to brown rust can be increased by using different Lr-genes of resistance. Now in wheat genome and its relatives more than 90 (Lr) genes of resistance to brown rust pathogen are identified and characterized for chromosomal localization and effectiveness. It was found that almost all genes of resistance to brown rust to be effective in Ukraine except Lr10 and Lr23 are alien transferred to Triticum aestivum from other species: Aegilops speltoides – genes Lr28, Lr35, Lr36, Lr47, Lr51, Lr66; Aegilops tauschii – Lr1, Lr21, Lr22a, Lr32, Lr39, Lr42; Triticum timopheevii – Lr18 and Lr50; Thinopyrum elongatum – Lr19, Lr29, Lr24; Secale cereale – Lr25, Lr26 and Lr45; Aegilops umbellulata – Lr9, Lr76; Triticum spelled – Lr44, Lr65, Lr71; Triticum dicoccoides – Lr53, Lr 64; Aegilops triuncilis – Lr58, LrTr; Tr. timopheevii spp. viticulosum – LrTt1; Aegilops ventricosa – Lr37; Aegilops kotschyi – Lr54; Elymus trachycaulis – Lr55; Aegilops sharonensis – Lr56; Aegilops geniculate – Lr57; Aegi­lops peregrine – Lr59; Triticum turgidum – Lr61; Aegilops neglecta – Lr62; Triticum monococcum – Lr63.Conclusions. The use of cultivars and wildlife species of wheat relatives in crossing will allow to obtain breeding material to be inhomogenous as for resistance to brown rust pathogen. | Цель. Среди описаных в специальной литературе идентифицированных генов устойчивости к возбудителю бурой ржавчины, выделить чужеродные, интрогресированые в вид Triticum aestivum L. источники, установить их происхождение и перспективы использования в селекционной практике. Результаты. Пшеница озимая мягкая как основная зерновая культура относится к группе растений, которые очень давно выращивают в контролируемых условиях. На протяжении периода вегетации она ощущает пагубное влияние возбудители болезней, поэтому поиск источников устойчивости к ним является первоочередной задачей селекции. Бурая ржавчина – одна из самых распространенных и вредоносных болезней пшеницы. Она приводит к значительным потерям урожая и ухудшению качества зерна. Популяция возбудителя Puccinia reconditа отличается высокой адаптационной способностью. Высокая вариабельность вирулентности гриба приводит к накоплению патотипов, способных подавлять гены устойчивости пшеницы. Наиболее экологически безопасным методом контролирования заболевания является создание устойчивых сортов. Эффективность селекции на устойчивость к бурой ржавчине можно улучшить, используя различные Lr-гены устойчивости. На сегодня в геноме пшеницы и ее родственников идентифицированы и охарактеризованы по хромосомной локализации и эффективности более 90 (Lr) генов устойчивости к этому возбудителю. Выявлено, что почти все эффективные на территории Украины гены устойчивости к возбудителю бурой ржавчины, кроме Lr10 и Lr23, являются чужеродными, перенесенными в Triticum aestivum от других видов: Aegilops speltoides – гены Lr28, Lr35, Lr36, Lr47, Lr51, Lr66; Aegilops tauschii – Lr1, Lr21, Lr22а, Lr32, Lr39, Lr42; Triticum timopheevii – Lr18 и Lr50; Thinopyrum elongatum – Lr19, Lr29, Lr24; Secale cereale – Lr25, Lr26 и Lr45; Aegilops umbellulata – Lr9, Lr76; Triticum speltа – Lr44, Lr65, Lr71; Triticum dicoccoides – Lr53, Lr 64; Aegilops triuncialis – Lr58, LrTr; Tr. timopheevii spp. viticulosum – LrTt1; Aegilops ventricosa – Lr37; Aegilops kotschyi – Lr54; Elymus trachycaulis – Lr55; Aegilops sharonensis – Lr56; Aegilops geniculate – Lr57; Aegilops peregrine – Lr59; Triticum turgidum – Lr61; Aegilops neglecta – Lr62; Triticum monococcum – Lr63.Выводы. Привлечение к скрещиваниям культурных и диких видов родственников пшеницы позволит получить различный по устойчивости к возбудителю бурой ржавчины селекционный материал | Мета. Серед описаних у фаховій літературі ідентифікованих генів стійкості проти збудника бурої іржі виділити чужо­рідні, інтрогресовані у вид Triticum aestivum L. джерела, встановити їх походження та перспективи використання в селекційній практиці.Результати. Пшениця озима м’яка як основна зернова культура належить до групи рослин, яких найдавніше вирощують у контрольованих умовах. Протягом періоду вегетації вона зазнає згубного впливу збудників хвороб, тому пошук джерел стійкості проти них є першочерговим завданням селекції. Бура іржа – одна з найпоширеніших і шкодочинних хвороб пшениці. Вона призводить до значних втрат урожаю та погіршення якості зерна. Популяція збудника Puccinia reconditа вирізняється неабиякою адаптивною здатністю. Висока варіабельність вірулентності гриба призводить до накопичення патотипів, здатних долати гени стійкості пшениці. Найбільш екологічно безпечним методом контролювання захворювання є створення стійких сортів. Ефективність селекції на стійкість проти бурої іржі можна покращити, використовуючи різні Lr-гени стійкості. На цей час у геному пшениці та її родичів ідентифіковано й охарактеризовано за хромосомною локалізацією та ефективністю понад 90 (Lr) генів стійкості проти цього збудника. Виявлено, що майже всі ефективні на території України гени стійкості проти збудника бурої іржі, окрім Lr10 та Lr23, є чужорідними, перенесеними в Triticum aestivum від інших видів: Aegilops speltoides – гени Lr28, Lr35, Lr36, Lr47, Lr51, Lr66; Aegilops tauschii – Lr1, Lr21, Lr22а, Lr32, Lr39, Lr42; Triticum timopheevii – Lr18 та Lr50; Thinopyrum elongatum – Lr19, Lr29, Lr24; Secale cereale – Lr25, Lr26 та Lr45; Aegilops umbellulata – Lr9, Lr76; Triticum speltа – Lr44, Lr65, Lr71; Triticum dicoccoides – Lr53, Lr64; Aegilops triuncialis – Lr58, LrTr; Tr. timopheevii spp. viticulosum – LrTt1; Aegilops ventricosa – Lr37; Aegilops kotschyi – Lr54; Elymus trachycaulis – Lr55; Aegilops sharonensis – Lr56; Aegilops geniculate – Lr57; Aegilops peregrine – Lr59; Triticum turgidum – Lr61; Aegilops neglecta – Lr62; Triticum monococcum – Lr63.Висновки. Залучення до схрещувань культурних та диких видів родичів пшениці дасть змогу отримати неоднорідний за стійкістю проти збудника бурої іржі селекційний матеріал.

The article describes data of experimental researches carried out in V.M. Remesla Miroonovskiy Wheat Institute. The data provides evidence that treatment of hybrids with mutagens in order to get new source material is efficient for winter wheat breeding, and it allows to obtain new competitive lines and varieties of winter wheat.

Questions of winter wheat cultivation in rice crop rotations, which further to make the most efficient use of soil, increase of fertility and receive an additional yield per unit of crop area are studied in the article. The results of ecological variety test of winter wheat in rice check conditions have represented. The varieties with the best adaptive properties, yield and high qualitative indices of grain are park out. The conclusions about expediency of burther study improvements guestions of winter wheat ecological variety test are made with the purpose of selection varieties the most adapted to specific rice checks contions.
