Intercellular pH of peach and apricot mesocarp [fruit growth and development]

In both fruits, pH is shown to change from neutral to acidic as growth rate changes from slow to rapid; in peaches the changes occurred over a 4-week period, in apricots more quickly. The significance for the regulation of mesocarp development is discussed.
