Hexafluoroacetone and tetramethyldiphosphine react readily at low temperatures producing three 4,4-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,2-oxaphosphetanes (1), (2), and (3). The compounds have chiral centres at phosphorus producing doubling of resonances in the NMR spectra.
