Specific attention is given to: the effect of interaction of dietary calcium and magnesium on blood pressure in hypertension; evidence for a sodium-calcium interaction in hypertension regulation; and the counteraction of sodium-induced hypertension by dietary polyunsaturated fat. Data on the nutrient content and mineral ratios in different dietary components in a basic 4 diet also are included.(wz).
