The content of nucleic acid in RD-mutants of baker's yeast (Sacchoromyces cervisiae) has been studied. RNA content in RD-mutants was 28% lower than in wild strains. DNA content in RD-mutants was approximately 28% higher than in wild strains. The increased content of DNA and the decreased RNA/DNA ratio in RD-mutant cells of baker's yeast, caused by Benomyl, have been explained by the appearance of polyploidy in mutant cells.
