Occurrence of protein and carbohydrates in leaves of different cultivars and lines of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

The highest level protein content was found in the leaves of cultivars Biala Wyborowa, Jubilatka, Wiejska, Saxobel, and lines IGE 1/79, IGE 2/79, IG 426/78 and IG 363/78. The lowest protein content was found in leaves of cultivars Saba, Comprise, Simplobel and lines BCK-I and BRE SSS. Dominating amino acids were aspartic acid and glutamic acid. In the leaves of Cultivars Biala Wyborowa, Wiejska, Saxobel and lines IGE 1/79 and IGE 2/79, the lowest level of carbohydrates dissoluble in water was stated. Most of these compounds were found in the leaves of cultivars Saba, Vistula, Comprise, Simplobel and lines BCK-I and BRE SSS
