Application of oat grain in extrusion - cooking

The conditions of processing using a single screw extruder were as follows: 100-130 degrees C, 100 r.p.m., 4 mm diameter. It was found that oat grain and oat flakes could be admixtured with corn groats, but only at limited rate 10-20 percent. Potato starch and/or casein improved the quality factors of oat grain and corn groat co-extrudates; however, they did not enable higher than 20 percent addition of oat grain into corn groat-based mixture
