Nitrogen content decrease in the dung of laying hens nourished with feed mixtures with lower protein content

The influence of feeding with low-protein feed mixtures, fortified with different supplements of DL-methionine, cholinchloride and vitamin B2, a physiologically justified necessity, on the nitrogen and crude protein output in dung of the Shaver Starcross 288 laying type of hens was investigated. Low-protein feed mixtures were comprised, in comparison with commercial feed mixtures, of less crude protein by 13.45-17.18%, thus the consumption of the crude protein was decreased by 2.41-7.26 g per bird per day. Decreasing of the crude protein consumption lowered output of fresh dung by 2.50-3.68 g per bird per day (statistically non-significant), meaning a 2.34-32.14% decrease in comparison with control group. A more frequently statistically significant decrease was in crude protein content of dung dry matter. One kilogram of dung dry matter consists of 50.92-123.33 g crude protein less in trial groups (meaning a 13.38-26.74% decrease) in comparison with control. Between single trial groups with different supplements of DL-methionine, cholinchloride and vitamin B2, significant differences in content of the nitrogen output, resp. crude protein in the dung were not ascertained
