The article deals with the peculiarities of training the leading trade specialists at present time. It has been established that a trade manager, eager to work successfully as a leader, except for professional skills and knowledge, has to possess certain personal features and abilities. Certainly, a manager in a certain period of time acquires the necessary skills, but this period can be rather long. Very often a beginner trade manager works ineffectively, makes many mistakes that costs a lot for the company. The higher the position of a manager, the bigger is his/her mistake. The article draws the conclusion that success of the trade manager depends on his/her knowledge, experience, inventiveness, ability to risk sensibly and on certain personal features.
