Summary In the present study, the effects of smoke heating on the improvement of wood quality were investigated. Especially, (1) Changes of wood quality by smoke heating according to a commercial scale operation, (2) Effects of the temperature and duration of smoke heating on wood quality, and (3) Improvement of wood color by smoke heating, were examined. The results obtained in the present study are summarized as follows :
