Pesticide residues in fruit and vegetables

Food safety is of great importance. Through the residue monitoring programme, consumers can be assured that they are not exposed to unacceptable pesticide residues levels and that only authorized pesticides are applied to fruit and vegetables. The total number of analysed samples in five years was 778. The analytical methods used in most cases are multiresidual. Out of the samples analysed 7.9% contained residues in excess of the MPLs.
