In the paper an overview of food packaging technology is given as well as most important packaging functions and environments. The typical food packaging development process which may serve as a guide for designing food packaging systems is also presented. The paper gives the examples of analyzing food packaging systems and food packaging levels that can be optimized to provide the most efficient solution.
