Chinese.

The treated seeds were sowed in the soil of 9% water content and the germination rate, germination potential, plant height and osmotic regulation substances, membrane lipid peroxidation, reactive oxygen species and protective enzyme activity were determined. The results showed that seed germination rate and germination potential could be increased and seed germination inhibition were alleviated under drought stress. The contents of proline and soluble protein in the seeds were increased, the osmotic potential was reduced, while the water absorption in seed was promoted. In the millet seedling, the activities of anti-oxidant enzymes were increased and production rate of O-2_and H2O2 decreased. The degree of membrane lipid peroxidation was reduced by the soaking treatment under drought stress. In conclusion, after the millet seeds were treated with the mixed soaking, drought stress adaptability were improved by the increase of antioxidant capacity and osmotic adjustment of leaves and reduction of membrane lipid peroxidation injury.
