A preliminary survey of soil fungi associated with mature females and eggs of Tylenchulus semipenetrans, parasitizing citrus trees in Baghdad, showed the presence of a large number of fungal species. Some of these fungi exhibited chitinolytic activities (CA) when cultured on an agar medium containing 0.2% (W/V) colloidal chitin. Fungi with CA could parasitize nematode eggs and consequently could have potentials in the biological control of the citrus nematode
