Chitinolytic activity of fungi associated with females and eggs of the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans
1988
Fattah, F.A. (Nuclear Research Centre, Baghdad (Iraq). Faculty of Agriculture and Biology, P.O. Box 765)
A preliminary survey of soil fungi associated with mature females and eggs of Tylenchulus semipenetrans, parasitizing citrus trees in Baghdad, showed the presence of a large number of fungal species. Some of these fungi exhibited chitinolytic activities (CA) when cultured on an agar medium containing 0.2% (W/V) colloidal chitin. Fungi with CA could parasitize nematode eggs and consequently could have potentials in the biological control of the citrus nematode
