Report of the Review Committee on Food Science

This report presents the findings of a Review Committee asked by the DSIR to assess its research in the food science activity area. The Committee found the quality of DSIR food science to be good to excellent. They found a widespread perception in the food industry that the DSIR has little or no role in research in food science. This poor image is partly a result of a lack of focus for food science research within the DSIR. The research environment in this activity area is confused and lacking in direction. Suggestions are made to improve this situation
