Twelve samples of substances were studied cytologically. Three of them (heptacaine hydrochloride, heptacaine-N-oxide and 2-aminophenol) have shown slight mutagenic effects both on the chromosomes and genomes. The rest (2-acetaminophenol, 1-piperidinoethylalcohol, cinchocaine hydrochloride, trimecaine hydrochloride, pentacaine hydrochloride, and diothane) have appeared to be non-mutagenic.
