Correlations between fattening and slaughtering traits of lean pigs

The phenotypic correlations between the fattening and slaughtering traits were studied. Among slaughtering traits the highest correlation was determined between the meat/fat ratio in the section of the back ioint and lean content in the dissected sides (r = -0.562** in SL and r = -0.801** in LW breed), so that this indicator of slaughtering guality is the best one for showing the lean content of the sides. Significant correlatlon between the daily gain and food conversion (r 0.418** for SL and r = -0.356** for LW breed) and conversion and lean content of the sides (r = -0.615** for SL and r = -0.661** for LW breed) was also established
