Se realiza la caracterizacion del aceite esencial de 3 especies de oregano cultivadas en Cuba, mediante cromatografia de gases, cromatografia de gases-espectrometria de masas y evaluacion sensorial, y se comparan con los resultados de otras especies comerciales. Se recomienda la extension de la Lippia micromera Schauer en DC y el Ocimum gratissimum L. para la produccion nacional de oregano.
