Specific attention is given to the important and present status of the dietetic programs; educational alternatives and accreditation of dietitians and dietetic programs; the registering, licensing, and certification of dietitians; the question of whether there are adequate dietitians currently available in the US and what future needs might demand; employment opportunities and practices in dietetic practice; dietetic support personnel needs; and the role of the American Dietetic Association, its by-laws, and its future mandates.
