The divers song: A text analysis | El Canto de los buzos: un análisis textual

English. The songs of the lobster fishermen represent a genre of Miskito music, that of men who compose songs about their lives as lobster fishermen. They usually reflect the physical hardships and the emotional distress they go through. The songs are about their work.  their loved ones and the tasks that they perform in the deep sea and far away from their homes.  Through the analysis of two of these songs, the author explains that the identity of these men is undoubtedly linked to their history and the socioeconomic model of prohibition and today’s boom.  Both songs reveal that this notion of good and bad times has become an egocentric concept among the Miskito men of the Río Platano Biosphere Reserve in Honduras.

Los cantos de los buzos pescadores de langostas representan un género de la música Miskita, de aquellos hombres que dedican sus canciones a sus vidas como buzos pescadores de langostas. Ambos cantos revelan que esta noción de buena y mala época se ha convertido en la expresión del concepto egocentrista entre los hombres miskitos de la Reserva de Biosfera del Río Plátano, en Honduras.
