Spanish; Castilian. Se realiza un estudio para determinar el estado de conservación de la reserva ecológica El Gigante, del municipio de Guisa, provincia de Granma. Se emplea el índice de sinantropismo apoyado por un instrumento que tiene en cuenta la presencia de estratos y especies originales de la vegetación, el grado de modificación y otras matrices que posibilitaron determinar que esta área protegida es un ecosistema medianamente conservado, el cual evoluciona hacia una recuperación paulatina y tiene altas potencialidades para la conservación y como atractivo natural para el turismo de naturaleza. Con este resultado se han podido identificar y ubicar las principales acciones degradativas del área, lo que ha posibilitado trazar acciones de conservación y manejo adecuado.
