To investigate the epidemiological trait of intestinal diseases of animals caused by thermophilic Campylobacter spp., isolation of etiological agent was carried out. Isolated Campylobacter spp. were biotyped, serotyped and the susceptibility of the isolates to antimicrobial agents were examined. Isolation rates of Campylobacter spp. from 649 fecal materials of 208 cattle, 300 pigs and 141 chickens were 25.5 %, 23.7 % and 38.3 %, respectively. The majority of the 130 isolates of C jejuni was classified as biotype I (50.6 %) and biotype II (34.6 %). Most of the 46 isolates of C coli were biotype I (71.7 %). Isolated C jejuni strains showed 14 different serotype, and serotype 4, 26, 36 were most frequent. Isolated C coli strains showed 5 different serotype and serotype 31 and 21 were relatively common. A total of 593 mastitic pathogens was isolated from the clinical mastitic milk of dairy cattle in Kyonggi area from March 1984 to February 1988. The mastitic pathogens were further studied bacteriologically and examined for susceptibility patterns to 10 antibiotics. 173 pathogens were isolated in the first year of studies, 205 pathogens in the second year, 122 pathogens in the third year and 93 pathogens in the last year. The pathogens isolated from clinical mastitis were more in summer than other seasons. Staphylococcus spp (50%) and Streptococcus spp (18%) were the main pathogens in the first year of studies but coliforms (15%) and other bacteria (40%) were the main pathogens in the last year of studies. Coliform mastitis occurred only in summer and autumn. Antibiotic susceptibility patterns of the same genuses from clinical mastitis infections in different herds and in different years varied greatly. Therefore, treatment should be selected on the basis of susceptibility test results

This paper deals with the isolation of Salmonella on 3 herds during the period from May 1984 to May 1985. Isolated Salmonella were examined for serotypes, adhesive fimbriae, antibiotic susceptibility and detection of R plasmid. Of total 1505 cattle, 24 Salmonella were isolated from 18 cattle (1.2%) and their serotypes were S. enteritidis (9 strains), S. derby (4 strains), S. infantis (1 strain), C1 group (8 strains), C2 group (1 strain) and untypable (1 strain). Twelve strains of Salmonella were isolated from 227 cattle with diarrhea and their serotypes were S. enteritidis (4 strains), S. derby (3 strains), S. infantis (1 strain), C1 group (3 strains) and untypable (1 strain)

The present study has been carried out to elucidate the antiestrogenic effects of tamoxifen in uteri of immature rats.
