Purpose. To determine the dependence of the intensity of callus formation and organogenesis of Linum usitatissimum L. convar. elongatum in vitro on explant type and variety in order to optimize the cultivation protocol. Methods. For induction of callus formation and organogenesis, hypocotyls, cotyledons, leaves, immature embryos and anthers of flax varieties ‘Hlinum’, ‘Esman’, ‘Hladiator’, ‘Hlobus’ and ‘Charivnyi’ grown on Murashige and Skoog medium were treated with 0.05 mg/l 1­naphthylacetic acid and 1.0 mg/l 6­benzylaminopurine at a photoperiod of 16 h, light intensity 2500 lux, relative humidity 60–80% and air temperature 22–24 °C. Empirical data were interpreted using arithmetic mean, error of the sample mean, coefficient of variation, least significant difference and rank order. Results. The intensity of callus formation and organogenesis in the analysed varieties depended on the object of study, i.e. the genotype of the variety and the type of explant. The frequency of callus formation ranged from 9.4 (anthers of variety ‘Esman’) to 99.4% (leaf explants of variety ‘Hlinum’), the weight of callus – from 0.18 (anthers of variety ‘Esman’) to 3.18 g (anthers of variety ‘Hlobus’), the frequency of organogenesis – from 7.4 (anthers of variety ‘Esman’) to 97.3% (hypocotyls of variety ‘Hlinum’), number of shoots – from 0.6 (anthers of variety ‘Hladiator’ and immature embryos of variety ‘Hlobus’) to 4.0 (hypocotyls of variety ‘Hlinum’), height of shoots – from 0.34 (anthers of variety ‘Esman’) to 1.63 cm (anthers of variety ‘Hlobus’). Conclusions. Plants of all the varieties studied are capable of effective callus formation and organogenesis in vitro in the presence of phytohormones of exogenous origin. Для індукції калюсо­ й органогенезу використовували гіпокотилі, сім’ядолі, листки, незрілі зародки та пиляки сортів льону­довгунця ‘Глінум’, ‘Есмань’, ‘Гладіатор’, ‘Глобус’ і ‘Чарівний’, які культивували на середовищі Мурасіге і Скуга, додаючи 0,05 мг/л 1­нафтилоцтової кислоти та 1,0 мг/л 6­бензиламінопурину, за фотоперіоду 16 год, інтенсивності освітлення 2500 лк, відносної вологості 60–80% і температури повітря 22–24 °С. Емпіричні дані інтерпретували за середнім арифметичним, похибкою вибіркової середньої, коефіцієнтом варіації, найменшою істотною різницею та ранжували. Результати. Інтенсивність калюсогенезу та органогенезу у проаналізованих сортів залежала від об’єкта дослідження. Водночас частота калюсогенезу варіювалася від 9,4 (пиляки сорту ‘Есмань’) до 99,4% (листкові експланти сорту ‘Глінум’), маса калюсу – від 0,18 (пиляки сорту ‘Есмань’) до 3,18 г (пиляки сорту ‘Глобус’), частота органогенезу – від 7,4 (пиляки сорту ‘Есмань’) до 97,3% (гіпокотилі сорту ‘Глінум’), кількість пагонів – від 0,6 (пиляки сорту ‘Гладіатор’ і незрілі зародки сорту ‘Глобус’) до 4,0 шт. (гіпокотилі сорту ‘Глінум’), висота пагонів – від 0,34 (пиляки сорту ‘Есмань’) до 1,63 см (пиляки сорту ‘Глобус’). Висновки. Рослини всіх досліджених сортів здатні до ефективного калюсо­ й органогенезу в культурі in vitro за наявності в середовищі фітогормонів екзогенного походження. Певні типи експлантів (гіпокотилі, сім’ядолі, листки) стабільно реагують на екзогенні регулятори росту, що індукують калюсогенез, а інші, як­от пиляки, мають специфічну реакцію, що значною мірою детермінується особливостями сорту. Для отримання диплоїдних сомаклонів оптимальним є використання гіпокотилів сортів ‘Глінум’ і ‘Чарівний’, для отримання гаплоїдних регенерантів – незрілих зародків та пиляків сортів ‘Глобус’ і ‘Гладіатор’, що забезпечує найвищий коефіцієнт розмноження культуральних рослинних об’єктів.

Результати. У статті простежено еволюцію вирощування та продажу популярного виду зрізаних квітів, проаналізовано вплив торговельної компанії на різних учасників ланцюга постачання, а також розглянуто відповідні бізнес- та юридичні аспекти. Висновки. Підкреслено важливість ефективного управління листами-повідомленнями, пов’язаними з ними угодами та правами інтелектуальної власності з огляду на потенційні юридичні та комерційні наслідки, що випливають з відповідних транзакцій і строків позовної давності. Крім того, надано цінну інформацію для селекціонерів і всіх зацікавлених у встановленні ідентичності нових сортів рослин на ринках. Підкреслено, що успіхові в бізнесі сприяє розуміння ланцюга постачання та впровадження відповідних стратегій, а також таких портфоліо інтелектуальної власності, як торговельні марки і права на сорти рослин.

Мета. Здійснити комплексне вивчення та оцінювання нових сортів соняшнику (Helianthus annuus L.) за основними господарсько-цінними показниками, зокрема врожайністю, стійкістю до хвороб, вмістом олії та білка. Методи. Застосовували такі методи: польовий, лабораторний, порівняння та математичної статистики. Кваліфікаційну експертизу сортів соняшнику однорічного на придатність до поширення в Україні (ПСП) проводили в межах ґрунтово-кліматичних зон Степу та Лісостепу. У процесі досліджень послуговувалися «Методикою проведення кваліфікаційної експертизи сортів рослин на придатність до поширення в Україні (Загальна частина)» та «Методикою проведення експертизи сортів рослин групи технічних та кормових на придатність до поширення в Україні». Результати. Проаналізовано сортовий потенціал соняшнику за врожайністю, вмістом білка й олії та лушпинністю. Водночас досліджено господарсько-цінні ознаки його нових сортів (‘MAS 804G’, ‘LG58390’, ‘LG50550 CLP’, ‘SY THEOS’, ‘LG50549 SX’, ‘LG58630’, ‘P64LL164’, ‘P64LL455’), внесених до Державного реєстру сортів рослин, придатних для поширення в Україні. У всі роки проведення експертизи врожайність у зоні Лісостепу була вищою, ніж у Степу (‘MAS 804G’ – на 49%, ‘LG50550 CLP’ – на 38%, ‘SY THEOS’ – на 28,9%, ‘LG50549 SX’ – на 21,9%, ‘LG58630’ – на 19,5%, ‘P64LL455’ – на 12,6%, ‘P64LL164’ – на 10,3%), а найбільшими її значеннями характеризувалися сорти ‘LG50550 CLP’ (2,58–4,54 т/га) та ‘MAS 804G’ (2,79–4,26 т/га). За показниками якості, зокрема вмістом олії у насінні, переважали ‘P64LL164’ та ‘SY THEOS’, вміст білка становив 17,7–17,5% у сорту ‘LG58630’ та 16,7–17,1% у ‘LG58390’. Висновки. За результатами кваліфікаційної експертизи на придатність сорту для поширення досліджувані сорти рекомендовано до вирощування у зонах Степу та Лісостепу. Визначено сорти з найвищим вмістом олії у насінні – ‘SY THEOS’ (Степ – 51,4%, Лісостеп – 51,6%) і ‘P64LL164’ (Степ – 50,9%, Лісостеп – 52,1%). Найбільше накопичення білка відзначено у сорту ‘LG58630’ (Степ – 17,7%, Лісостеп – 17,5%).

Purpose. To carry out a comprehensive study and evaluation of new varieties of the common sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) according to the main economically valuable traits, in particular yield, disease resistance, oil and protein content. Methods. The following methods were used: field, laboratory, comparison and mathematical statistics. The qualification examination of sunflower varieties on suita­bility for distribution in Ukraine (SVD) was carried out in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe soil-climatic zones. In the research process, the “Methodology for the qualification examination of plant varieties on suitability for distribution in Ukraine (general part)” and the “Methodology for the examination of technical and fodder plant varieties on suitability for distribution in Ukraine” were used. Results. The varietal potential of the common sunflower in terms of yield, protein and oil content and hulliness was analysed. At the same time, economically valuable traits of new varieties (‘MAS 804G’, ‘LG58390’, ‘LG50550 CLP’, ‘SY THEOS’, ‘LG50549 SX’, ‘LG58630’, ‘P64LL164’, ‘P64LL455’), included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine, were evaluated. In all years of testing, the yield in the Forest-Steppe zone was higher than in the Steppe (‘MAS 804G’ – by 49%, ‘LG50550 CLP’ – by 38%, ‘SY THEOS’ – by 28.9%, ‘LG50549 SX’ – by 21.9%, ‘LG58630’ – 19.5%, ‘P64LL455’ – 12.6%, ‘P64LL164’ – 10.3%) and the highest values were characterised for the varieties ‘LG50550 CLP’ (2.58–4.54 t/ha) and ‘MAS 804G’ (2.79–4.26 t/ha). With regard to quality indicators, in particular the oil content in seeds, ‘P64LL164’ and ‘SY THEOS’ were dominant, while the protein content was 17.7–17.5% in ‘LG58630’ and 16.7–17.1% in ‘LG58390’. Conclusions. According to the results of the qualification examination on the suitability of the variety for distribution, the investigated varieties are recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones. The varieties with the highest oil content in seeds were identified as ‘SY THEOS’ (Steppe – 51.4%, Forest-Steppe – 51.6%) and ‘P64LL164’ (Steppe – 50.9%, Forest-Steppe – 52.1%). The highest protein accumulation was observed in variety ‘LG5863’ (Steppe – 17.7%, Forest-Step­pe – 17.5%). | Мета. To study the historical origins and stages of formation of the variety testing network of the Cherkasy Region, where one of the branches of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination is located. Methods. The Cherkasy branch of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination is located in the village of Dzenzelivka, Mankiv United Territorial Community, Uman district, Cherkasy Region. During the research, general scientific methods were used, in particular, hypotheses, observations, historical methods with elements of extrapolation of the source scientific database, analysis, as well as the method of synthesis to form conclusions. Results. The Cherkasy Region is a typical Ukrainian forest-steppe. Plant varieties common in the region meet the criteria of distinctness, uniformity and stabi­lity generally accepted in international practice; they meet the needs of consumers in terms of economically valuable characteristics; they do not pose a threat to the environment and human health. The Variety Testing Network of the Cherkasy Region was established in 1966 and its activities were coordinated by the Inspectorate of the State Commission for Variety Testing of Agricultural Crops in the Cherkasy Region. In 2002, the Cherkassy Regional State Centre for Expertise in Plant Varieties was established, which in 2012 became a branch of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination. Conclusions. The formation of varietal plant resources in the Cherkasy Region took place thanks to the rather long historical stages of formation and development of its varietal testing network.

Мета. Провести математично-статистичну оцінку даних мутагенезу покоління М2 сортів чорнушки дамаської ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ для виявлення взаємовідношень між групами мутацій і математичного обґрунтування їх використання у процесі подальшого аналізу й відбору спадкових змін мутантних рослин. Методи. Насіння сортів ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ обробили хімічними мутагенами. Мутації, виокремлені під час візуального спостереження за рослинами на різних етапах їхнього росту та розвитку, розділили на вісім груп. У кожній групі кожного варіанта обробки залежно від типу мутагену, його концентрації та часу експозиції підрахували частоту мутацій. Математично-статистичну оцінку результатів здійснили, використовуючи пакет аналізу MS Excel і рангову кореляцію r‑Спірмена. Результати. Виявлено й оцінено мутаційну відмінність у поколінні М2 між вісьмома групами чорнушки дамаської сортів ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ під впливом мутагенів етилметансульфонату, нітрозометилсечовини і нового хімічного мутагену ДГ-2 (комплекс 3-N,N-диметиламіносульфолана з диметилом). Визначено, що величина кореляцій мутагенних впливів коливається в межах 0,437–0,752 з рівнями значущості від 3,540 ´ 10–5 до 0,037. Інформативними можна вважати такі групи мутацій: структури стебла, пагонів і листя; будови квітки; забарвлення пелюсток віночка; будови коробочки; фізіологічних змін у процесі росту та розвитку. Висновки. Встановлено вплив мутагенів ЕМС, НМC у концентрації 0,01 і 0,05% та ДГ-2 у концентрації 0,5 і 0,05% на сорти чорнушки дамаської ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ за експозиції 6 і 16 годин. Інформативними слід вважати мутації структури стебла, пагонів і листя, забарвлення пелюсток віночка, будови квітки та коробочки, а також ті, що зумовлюють порушення синтезу хлорофілу.

Purpose. To carry out a mathematical and statistical evaluation of the mutagenesis data of the M2 generation of Nigella damascena varieties ‘Berehynia’ and ‘Charivnytsia’ in order to identify relationships between groups of mutations and mathematical justification of their use in the process of further analysis and selection of hereditary changes of mutant plants. Methods. Seeds of the varieties ‘Berehynia’ and ‘Charivnytsia’ were treated with chemical mutagens. The mutations identified by visual observation of the plants at different stages of their growth and development were divided into eight groups. In each group of each treatment option, the frequency of mutations was calculated as a function of the type of mutagen, its concentration and exposure time. The mathematical and statistical evaluation of the results was carried out using the MS Excel analysis package and Spearman’s rank correlation. Results. The mutational difference in the M2 generation between eight groups of Nigella damascena varieties ‘Berehynia’ and ‘Charivnytsia’ under the influence of the mutagens ethyl methanesulfonate, nitrosomethylurea and the new chemical mutagen DG-2 (a complex of 3-N,N-dimethylamino sulfonane with dimethyl) was identified and evaluated. It was found that the correlation value of the mutagenic effects ranged from 0.437 to 0.752 with significance levels from 3.540 ´ 10–5 to 0.037. The following groups of mutations can be considered informative: stem, shoot and leaf structures; flower structure; colour of the corolla petals; structure of the capsule; physio­logical changes in the process of growth and development.                Conclusions. The effect of the mutagens EMS, NMU in concentrations of 0.01 and 0.05% and DG-2 in concentrations of 0.5 and 0.05% was determined on Nigella damascena varieties ‘Berehynia’ and ‘Charivnytsia’ after exposure for 6 and 16 hours. Mutations in the structure of the stem, shoots and leaves, the colour of the petals of the corolla, the structure of the flower and capsule, and those causing a violation of chlorophyll synthesis should be considered informative. | Мета. Провести математично-статистичну оцінку даних мутагенезу покоління М2 сортів чорнушки дамаської ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ для виявлення взаємовідношень між групами мутацій і математичного обґрунтування їх використання у процесі подальшого аналізу й відбору спадкових змін мутантних рослин. Методи. Насіння сортів ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ обробили хімічними мутагенами. Мутації, виокремлені під час візуального спостереження за рослинами на різних етапах їхнього росту та розвитку, розділили на вісім груп. У кожній групі кожного варіанта обробки залежно від типу мутагену, його концентрації та часу експозиції підрахували частоту мутацій. Математично-статистичну оцінку результатів здійснили, використовуючи пакет аналізу MS Excel і рангову кореляцію r‑Спірмена. Результати. Виявлено й оцінено мутаційну відмінність у поколінні М2 між вісьмома групами чорнушки дамаської сортів ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ під впливом мутагенів етилметансульфонату, нітрозометилсечовини і нового хімічного мутагену ДГ-2 (комплекс 3-N,N-диметиламіносульфолана з диметилом). Визначено, що величина кореляцій мутагенних впливів коливається в межах 0,437–0,752 з рівнями значущості від 3,540 ´ 10–5 до 0,037. Інформативними можна вважати такі групи мутацій: структури стебла, пагонів і листя; будови квітки; забарвлення пелюсток віночка; будови коробочки; фізіологічних змін у процесі росту та розвитку. Висновки. Встановлено вплив мутагенів ЕМС, НМC у концентрації 0,01 і 0,05% та ДГ-2 у концентрації 0,5 і 0,05% на сорти чорнушки дамаської ‘Берегиня’ та ‘Чарівниця’ за експозиції 6 і 16 годин. Інформативними слід вважати мутації структури стебла, пагонів і листя, забарвлення пелюсток віночка, будови квітки та коробочки, а також ті, що зумовлюють порушення синтезу хлорофілу.

Щодо елементів харчової цінності, то накопичення білків у м’якуші часнику озимого нестрілкуючого було на 4,1 та 20,9% більшим ніж в озимого стрілкуючого та ярого відповідно. Найвищий уміст жирів відзначено у м’якуші озимого стрілкуючого та ярого підвидів. Найбільше вуглеводів накопичив часник ярої форми, найменше – озимий нестрілкуючий. Водночас показник енергетичної цінності ярого часнику становив 130,03 ккал/100 г сирої маси м’якуша, що на 3,1 та 12,6% вище ніж у озимого стрілкуючого та озимого нестрілкуючого підвидів. Висновки. У результаті досліджень виявлено, що за вмістом білків у м’якуші озимий часник істотно переважав ярий. За вмістом жирів різниця була незначною. Помітно більшою кількістю вуглеводів, а тому й найвищою калорійністю характеризувався м’якуш часнику ярої форми.

Purpose. To determine the subspecies and variety/sample of garlic with the best nutritional value by analy­zing the difference between nutritional value indicators and their variation according to the time of planting (winter or spring). Methods. During 2020–2022, in field conditions (Uman, 48°46’N, 30°14’E) were studied 25 breeding and local forms of garlic (9 – winter bolting; 9 – winter non- bolting; 11 – spring, among which samples No. 14, 33, 43 and 44 were determined to be suitable for planting in autumn and spring. For the analysis of the obtained results, generally accepted methods of genetic and statistical analysis were used. Results. Varieties and samples with high protein content were selected – ‘Giovanna’, ‘Sofiivskyi’, No. 14, 43, 54 and 55; with high calorie pulp – ‘Apollon’, No. 14, 27, 33, 43 and 57 (can be the starting material in the process of crea­ting highly nutritious varieties for the needs of the food industry). With regard to nutritional elements, the accumulation of proteins in the pulp of winter non-bolting garlic was 4.1 and 20.9% higher than that of winter bolting and spring garlic, respectively. The highest fat content was found in the pulp of winter bolting and spring subspecies. Spring garlic accumulated the most carbohydrates, while winter non-bolting garlic accumulated the least. At the same time, the energy value indicator of spring garlic was 130.03 kcal/100 g raw pulp mass, which was 3.1 and 12.6% higher than that of the winter bolting and winter non-bolting subspecies, respectively. Conclusions. The results of the study showed that winter garlic was significantly superior to spring garlic in terms of protein content in the pulp. The difference in fat content was insignificant. Spring garlic pulp was characte­rised by a significantly higher amount of carbohydrates and therefore the highest calorie content. | Мета. The purpose of this study was to investigate mineral composition of the plants species Artemisia annua L., A. ludoviciana Nutt. and A. austriaca L. Methods. Determination of the elemental composition of plant material was carried out by the X-ray fluorescence method. Results. The content of mineral elements in plants depends on their individual ability to absorb elements from the soil and accumulate them in the roots, leaves and flowers. Plant samples of three species of wormwood were grown and studied during the flowering phase under conditions of introduction in M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NBG) during 2019–2022. The qualitative and quantitative content of different macro- and microelements in the soil and plants were investigated. It was shown that aerial parts of the investigated plants accumulate the most important elements for the plants life, such as – K, Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn. Mesoelements Ca and S are present in sufficient quantities also. Elements Nb, Y, Ti, V, Cr were detected in soil, but were not determined in plants. Only A. annua plants contains Ni and Se, while A. ludoviciana and A. annua plants contain Pb. The amount of toxic elements in plants did not exceed the maximum permissible concentrations for vegetable raw materials and food products. Conclusion. Content of the main macro- and microelements was determined in the plants A. annua, A. ludoviciana and A. austriaca growing in NBG. The tendency of plants A. ludoviciana to accumulate high concentrations of iron in the roots and aerial part was observed. The obtained data will be useful for forecasting and evaluating the results of introduction of new promising species of the genus Artemisia, in breeding of new varieties of wormwood, to determine their pharmacological properties and to make a decision about the feasibility of using them in herbal tea and food products.

Мета. Визначення кількісного та якісного елементного складу рослин видів Artemisia annua L., A. ludoviciana Nutt. та A. austriaca L. за умов інтродукції в Національному ботанічному саду імені М. М. Гришка НАН України.Методи. Елементний склад рослинної сировини визначали рентгенофлуоресцентним методом.Результати. Вміст мінеральних елементів у рослинах залежить від їхньої індивідуальної здатності поглинати елементи з ґрунту та накопичувати їх у коренях і надземній частині. Зразки рослин трьох видів полину, вирощених у НБС, досліджували протягом 2019–2022 рр. у фазі цвітіння. Визначено якісний і кількісний вміст 21 макро- та мікроелемента в ґрунті та 17 – в досліджуваних рослинах, а також деякі особливості міграції цих елементів у системі ґрунт – корінь – трава. Встановлено, що надземна частина досліджуваних видів містить найважливіші для життя рослин елементи – K, Fe, Cu, Zn і Mn. Мезоелементи Са і S присутні в достатній кількості. Елементи Nb, Y, Ti, V, Cr виявлено лише у ґрунті. Ni та Se містили тільки рослини A. annua, тоді як Pb – A. annua та A. ludoviciana. A. ludoviciana продемонструвала схильність до накопичення заліза в надземній масі. Кількість токсичних елементів у рослинах не перевищувала гранично допустимих концентрацій для рослинної сировини та продуктів харчування.Висновки. Визначено вміст основних макро- та мікроелементів у ґрунті та рослинах A. annua, A. ludoviciana й A. austriaca за умов інтродукції в НБС імені М. М. Гришка, а також особливості накопичення елементів окремими органами рослин під час їх транспортування з ґрунту в надземну частину. Встановлено схильність рослин A. ludoviciana до накопичення високих концентрацій заліза в коренях і надземній частині, а також можливість накопичення Ni та Se рослинами A. annua. Cobalt is a transition metal located in the fourth row of the periodic table and is a neighbor of iron and nickel. It has been considered an essential element for prokaryotes, human beings, and other mammals, but its essentiality for plants remains obscure. In this article, we proposed that cobalt (Co) is a potentially essential micronutrient of plants. Co is essential for the growth of many lower plants, such as marine algal species including diatoms, chrysophytes, and dinoflagellates, as well as for higher plants in the family Fabaceae or Leguminosae. The essentiality to leguminous plants is attributed to its role in nitrogen (N) fixation by symbiotic microbes, primarily rhizobia. Co is an integral component of cobalamin or vitamin B12, which is required by several enzymes involved in N2 fixation. In addition to symbiosis, a group of N2 fixing bacteria known as diazotrophs is able to situate in plant tissue as endophytes or closely associated with roots of plants including economically important crops, such as barley, corn, rice, sugarcane, and wheat. Their action in N2 fixation provides crops with the macronutrient of N. Co is a component of several enzymes and proteins, participating in plant metabolism. Plants may exhibit Co deficiency if there is a severe limitation in Co supply. Conversely, Co is toxic to plants at higher concentrations. High levels of Co result in pale-colored leaves, discolored veins, and the loss of leaves and can also cause iron deficiency in plants. It is anticipated that with the advance of omics, Co as a constitute of enzymes and proteins and its specific role in plant metabolism will be exclusively revealed. The confirmation of Co as an essential micronutrient will enrich our understanding of plant mineral nutrition and improve our practice in crop production.

Purpose. To determine mineral composition of plants of species of the genus Artemisia (A. dracunculus L., A. abrotanum L. and A. argyi H.Lév. & Vaniot) to determine the possibility of their safe use in the food and pharmaceutical industries of Ukraine. Methods. X‑ray fluorescence method for determining the elemental composition of plant raw materials. Results. The content of mineral elements in plants of the genus Artemisia was determined depending on their ability to absorb elements from the soil and accumulate in the roots and organs of the aerial part was determined. The quantitative content of 21 macro- and microelements was established, and some peculiarities of their migration and distribution in the soil – roots – plant system were revealed. In particular, the aerial part of the studied plants contains K, Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn, which are the most important elements in the life of the plant organism. The content of mesoelements Ca and S is quite high. The amount of toxic elements Pb, Sr and Zr in plants is insignificant. Elements K and S accumulate in the aerial part. The content of elements in the aerial part of plants by decreasing their concentration can be represented in the form of the following series: for Artemisia dracunculus – S> K> Ca> Cl> Fe> Sr> Zn> Mn> Cu> Zr> Rb> Br> Cr; for A. abrotanum – K> Ca> S> Cl> Fe> Zn> Sr> Mn> Cu> Br> Cr> Co> Zr> Rb> Ni; for A. argyi – K> Ca> S> Fe> Cl> Sr> Zn> Mn> Co> Zr> Cu> Rb> Br> Se. The content of toxic elements in the studied plants was lower than the maximum allowable concentrations for plant raw materials and food. Conclusions. For the first time under conditions of introduction in the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine in the plants Artemisia dracunculus, A. abrotanum and A. argyi the content of macro- and microelements, which are directly related to the metabolism of biologically active compounds, was determined. The peculiarities of their distribution by plant organs during the transition from soil to aboveground mass have been clarified. The obtained results can be used to evaluate and compare the quality of plant raw materials of the genus Artemisia, to determine the pharmacological properties of these plants associated with some elements of the mineral composition, and their use in the medical and food industries. The obtained data have both scientific and practical significance in the selection of economically valuable plant species for the enrichment of the cultivated flora of Ukraine. | Мета. The inbred “SJ11-3” pepper was cultured in yellow brown soil, paddy soil, fluvo-aquic soil, and pastoral soil, and the factors affecting the absorption of trace elements and fruit quality were analyzed. The results showed that the physicochemical properties of the soils were significantly different, which led to differences in the nutritional quality of pepper fruits. The pH value had a significant effect on the absorption of trace elements in pepper. The increase of pH promoted the absorption of magnesium and molybdenum but inhibited the absorption of zinc, copper, manganese, and iron. The stepwise multivariable regression analysis showed that the amount of molybdenum in soil was the main factor affecting the total amino acid content of pepper. Total nitrogen, zinc, and copper were the main factors that contributed to the soluble sugar content of pepper, and the available potassium was the major determinant of the vitamin C content of pepper. This study provides new insight on the pepper fruit quality grown on different types of soil with varying levels of trace elements.

Antecedentes y Objetivos: Los habitantes de la Meseta Purépecha conservan un excelente conocimiento ancestral sobre plantas medicinales utilizadas para tratar afecciones dermatológicas que no ha sido documentado. Un estudio etnofarmacológico fue realizado en esta región para recopilar información sobre el uso de plantas medicinales y preparaciones herbarias utilizadas en la zona para el tratamiento de afecciones dermatológicas, con el objetivo de difundir la medicina tradicional Purépecha e identificar plantas prometedoras en el desarrollo de tratamientos para afecciones cutáneas. Métodos: El estudio se realizó en los 21 municipios que componen la Meseta Purépecha. Se entrevistó a un total de 86 habitantes locales (62 mujeres y 24 hombres). Los datos se analizaron cuantitativamente mediante la determinación del valor de uso, nivel de fidelidad y el factor de consenso informante. Resultados clave: En total 97 especies de plantas pertenecientes a 47 familias fueron documentadas para el tratamiento de 19 afecciones dermatológicas en la Meseta Purépecha. Asteraceae fue la familia principal entre las plantas colectadas (20.61%), seguida de Lamiaceae (13.40%) y Solanaceae (5.15%). La mayor cantidad de plantas se utilizó para tratamiento de heridas (40.20%), inflamación de la piel (37.11%) y erupciones cutáneas (37.11%). Background and Aims: Inhabitants of the Purépecha Plateau preserve an excellent ancestral knowledge on medicinal plants used for dermatological affections, which has not been documented. An ethnopharmacological survey was carried out in this region to gather information on the use of medicinal plants and herbal preparations for treating dermatological affections, to disseminate the Purépecha indigenous knowledge and identifying promising plants for developing new formulations for cutaneous conditions.Methods: The study was conducted in the 21 municipalities that compose the Purépecha Plateau. A total of 86 local inhabitants (62 women and 24 men) were interviewed. The data were quantitatively analyzed through the determination of the use value, fidelity level and informant consensus factor.Key results: A total of 97 plant species belonging to 47 families were documented for treating 19 dermatological conditions on the Purépecha Plateau. Asteraceae was the leading family among the collected medicinal plants (20.61%), followed by Lamiaceae (13.40%) and Solanaceae (5.15%). The largest number of plants was used for the treatment of cuts (40.20%), skin inflammation (37.11%) and rash (37.11%). The aerial parts were the most commonly used (34.75%). The medicinal plant species with larger use values were Heterotheca inuloides (0.53), Aloe vera (0.37) and Oenothera rosea (0.21). The comparison of results with ethnomedicinal literature worldwide revealed that 8.25% of plants used on the Purépecha Plateau were recorded for the first time for the treatment of dermatological affections.Conclusions: This study provides new information on medicinal plants used on the Purépecha Plateau to treat cutaneous diseases. Мета. Визначити вплив факторів вирощування на господарсько-цінні характеристики нових сортів пшениці м’якої озимої. Методи. Польовий, біохімічні методи аналізу та дисперсійний аналіз. Результати. Встановлено частки впливу умов зони вирощування, вегетаційного періоду року та генотипу на врожайність, вміст білка і клейковини в зерні сортів пшениці м’якої озимої. На врожайність досліджуваних сортів найбільше вплинули умови зони вирощування (73%). Так, у середньому за 2020–2021 рр. у зоні Лісостепу вона становила 6,23–8,39 т/га (максимальна); Полісся – 5,31–7,02; Степу – 5,16–6,63 т/га. Сорти, які в зоні Полісся показали низьку врожайність, у Степу характеризувалися вищою. Частка впливу умов зони вирощування на вміст білка в зерні досліджуваних сортів становила 49%; умов вегетаційного періоду року – 42%. Найбільший вміст білка у всіх зонах вирощування мав сорт ‘МАНДАРИН’ (14,5–16,4%). У Степу та Лісостепі найбільшу його кількість виявлено в зерні сортів ‘Тата Мата’ (13,6–14,3%), ‘Енеїда’ (13,6–14,3%) та ‘Новатор’ (14,2 і 13,2%), в Поліссі – у ‘Вагома’ та ‘Енеїда’ (по 13,4%). На вміст клейковини в зерні досліджуваних сортів умови зони вирощування впливали на 64%, вегетаційного періоду року – на 28%. Вплив генотипу на вміст білка і клейковини становив 5 і 4% відповідно. У всіх зонах вирощування найбільше клейковини містило зерно сортів ‘МАНДАРИН’ та ‘Енеїда’ (27,7–31,8 і 27,3–30,3%). У Степу та Лісостепі високий вміст клейковини мали сорти ‘Ілюзіон’ (28,4 та 30,8%) і ‘Тата Мата’ (27,8 та 29,8%). Висновки. Встановлено, що на врожайність сортів пшениці м’якої озимої суттєво впливали умови зони вирощування (73%) та взаємодія факторів зона × рік (21%). Частка впливу умов зони вирощування на вміст білка і клейковини становила 49 і 64% (суттєва), умов вегетаційного періоду року – 21 і 28%, а генотипу – 5 і 4% відповідно. Отже, для отримання високого врожаю пшениці м’якої озимої необхідно підбирати сорти, враховуючи істотний вплив умов ґрунтово-кліматичної зони вирощування на показники продуктивності.

Purpose. To determine the growing factors impact the economically valuable characteristics of new soft winter wheat varieties.Methods. Field, biochemical methods, ANOVA.Results. The influence of the growing zone, the growing season conditions and the genotype of the soft winter wheat varieties on yield, protein and gluten content were determined. The conditions of the growing zone have the greatest influence on studied varieties yield – 73%. On average, for 2020–2021, the maximum yield was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone – 6.23–8.39 t/ha. In the Forest zone, the yield of studied soft winter wheat varieties was 5.31–7.02 t/ha. For the Steppe zone, the yield was within 5.16–6.63 t/ha. It was determined that varieties which showed low yield in the Forrest zone were characterized by higher yield in the Steppe zone. It was found that the growing zone (49%) and growing season (42%) conditions have the greatest effect on the protein content in grain of studied varieties. It was determined that variety ‘MANDARIN’ was characterized by the highest protein content in all growing zones (14.5–16.4%). In the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, high protein content was identified in grain of wheat varieties ‘Tata Mata’ (13.6–14.3%), ‘Eneida’ (13.6–14.3%) and ‘Novator’ (14.2 and 13.2%), in the Forest zone – in grain of varieties ‘Vahoma’ and ‘Eneida’ – 13.4% each. It was found that the growing zone conditions impacted gluten content in grain of studied wheat varieties by 64%, the influence of the growing season conditions was 28%. The effect of variety genotype on protein and gluten content was 5 and 4%, respectively. The grain of soft winter wheat varieties ‘MANDARIN’ and ‘Eneida’ contained the largest amount of gluten in all growing zones (27.7–31.8% and 27.3–30.3%). For the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, a high gluten content was found in grains of varieties ‘Illusion’ (28.4 and 30.8%) and ‘Tata Mata’ (27.8 and 29.8%).Conclusions. It was found that growing zone conditions of soft winter wheat varieties (73%) and the interaction of factors zone × year (21%) impacted the yield significantly. The growing zone conditions (49 and 64%), growing season conditions (21 and 28%) and genotype of variety (5 and 4%, respectively) had a significant influence on protein and gluten content. Therefore, a significant influence of growing zone conditions on the productivity indicators of soft winter wheat determines the need to select varieties in order to obtain a high yield, taking into account the soil and climatic zone | Мета. An attempt has been made to study the effect of elevated temperature on soil hydrothermal regimes and winter wheat growth under simulated warming in temperature gradient tunnel (TGT). Results showed that bulk density (BDs) of 0, 0.9, and 2.5 °C were significantly different whereas BDs of 2.8 and 3.5 °C were not significantly different. Water filled pore space (WFPS) was maximum at 3.5 °C temperature rise and varied between 43.80 and 98.55%. Soil surface temperature (ST) at different dates of sowing increased with rise in sensor temperature and highest ST was observed at S5 sensors (3.5 °C temperature rise). Temperature and its difference were high for the top soil, and were stable for the deep soil. Photosynthesis rate (μmol CO₂ m⁻² s⁻¹) of wheat was lower at higher temperature in different growth stages of wheat. In wheat, stomatal conductance declined from 0.67 to 0.44 mol m⁻² s⁻¹ with temperature rise. Stomatal conductance decreased with increase in soil temperature and gravimetric soil moisture content (SWC). In TGT, 0 °C temperature rise showed highest root weight density (RWD) (5.95 mg cm⁻³); whereas, 2.8 and 3.5 °C showed lowest RWD (4.90 mg cm⁻³). Harvest index was maximum (0.37) with 0 °C temperature rise, and it decreased with increase in temperature, which indicated that both grain and shoot biomass decreased with increase in temperature. Intensive studies are needed to quantify the soil hydrothermal regimes inside TGT along with the crop growth parameters.

In the same period the weight of 1000 seeds on average was 125.1–169.9 g in the Steppe zone, in Forest-Steppe zone it was 130.2–207.8 g and 143.9–188.0 g in Fo­rrest zone. According to the results of analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone has the greatest influence on weight of 1000 seeds – 31%, variety – 21% and conditions of the growing season of the year – 13%. The main characteristics of soybean quality are the content of crude protein and oil in seeds. The highest level of crude protein was observed in soybean variety in Forest-Steppe zone – 37.5–44.0%. In Forrest zone, the crude protein content was 34.4–41.7%, in the Steppe zone 35.4–40.1%. The maximum level of this characteristic was observed in variety ‘NS Diyana’ – 44.0% in Forest-Steppe zone, in Forrest zone – in the variety ‘Alexa’ 41.7%, in Steppe zone – in variety ‘NS Diyana’ 40.1%. Thus, the growing zone (31%) and variety (25%) had the greatest influence on the content of crude protein; the interaction of factors (variety and growing zone) affected 17%. The average oil content for 2017‑2018 ranges from 19.8 to 24.2%. High oil content was noted in ‘Adsoy’ variety in Forrest and Forest-Steppe zones, 24.2 and 22.6%, respectively, and ‘Azimut’ – 23.8% in Steppe zone. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the growing zone to a greater extent affected the oil content in soybean seeds by 25%, variety – 21%, and the interaction of factors of the variety and gro­wing zone by 21%. Conclusions. According to the results of multifactor analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone had the greatest influence on the studied parameters. It was found that the rate of the influence of gro­wing zone of soybean varieties is 25–55%, depending on the studied characteristic. It was determined that the influence of the variety was 4–25%, the conditions of the growing season affected by 1–26%.

Мета. Вивчення адаптивності сучасних сортів пшениці озимої за екологічними параметрами та встановлення рівня їхньої врожайності залежно від погодних умов року, системи основного удобрення та рівня азотного живлення. Методи. Польовий, статистично-математичний аналіз. Результати. Наведено результати досліджень протягом 2016–2018 рр. показників екологічної пластичності, гомеостатичності та стабільності врожайності сучасних сортів пшениці озимої залежно від доз азотного підживлення на фоні основного внесення N30P30K30 в умовах Східного Лісостепу України. Встановлено специфічну реакцію сортів на дози прикореневого азотного підживлення залежно від розвитку посівів восени, часу відновлення весняної вегетації рослин та погодних умов протягом весняно-літнього періоду. Для досліджуваних сортів визначено показники гомеостатичності (Hom), що дало можливість оцінити сорти за їхньою придатністю для вирощування в умовах регіону. Оцінка агрономічної стабільності досліджуваних сортів пшениці озимої показала високий рівень реалізації потенціалу їхньої врожайності, який на контрольних варіантах (без удобрення) становив 86,7%. У варіантах прикореневого азотного підживлення рослин у фазу весняного кущіння (N20, N40, N60) цей показник змінювався від 85,6 до 87,4%. Висновки. Найвищу врожайність (5,77–7,01 т/га) забезпечив сорт ‘Епоха одеська’ з позитивним генотиповим ефектом (0,16–0,43 т/га). Сорти ‘Епоха одеська’ та ‘Статна’ можна вважати інтенсивними, оскільки за роки досліджень мали вищу врожайність та сильно виражену реакцію на умови вирощування. За роки досліджень на всіх варіантах удобрення сорт ‘Смуглянка’ виявився найціннішим за показниками найменшого коливання врожайності (0,46–0,61 т/га) й коефіцієнта варіації (V = 3,8–5,2%), мав найвищі значення гомеостатичності (Hom = 11,57–15,93) та агрономічної стабільності реалізації потенціалу продуктивності (As = 94,8–96,2%). При цьому застосування різних доз азоту не впливало на прояв стабільності цього сорту. Отже, сорт ‘Смуглянка’ виявився стабільнішим та економічно цінним порівняно з сортами ‘Епоха одеська’ та ‘Статна’, які мали потенційно вищу продуктивність, але з великим її коливанням.

Despite the proximity in zones of adaptation for soft and hard winter wheat (SWW and HWW; Triticum aestivum L.), agronomic evaluations have been confined to market class. Our objectives were to compare SWW and HWW regarding yield and agronomic attributes; genotype, environment, and their interaction; and rates of yield gain. Yield, grain volume weight, heading date, and plant height were collected from 40 adjacent studies evaluating HWW and SWW cultivars in 20 Kansas environments (n = 2,885). Growing season weather partially explained the variability in yield (47–51%), heading date (58–92%), and plant height (67–80%). Yield was greater in SWW than in HWW (3.73 vs. 3.48 Mg ha⁻¹), and a quadratic relationship between the 10th, mean, and 90th percentile yields suggested that SWW has a greater yield potential than HWW, although grain volume weight was greater in HWW (743 vs. 733 kg m⁻³). An asymmetric yield response for both classes was associated with greater phenotypic plasticity, which portrayed a more positive response for SWW. We performed a literature review that suggested a greater genetic gain for SWW than for HWW (33 vs. 17 kg ha⁻¹ yr⁻¹). This gain, however, represented a smaller portion of the regional yield gain (considering both genetic gain and adoption of agronomic practices) of each class (72 vs. 81%). We concluded that SWW outyields HWW due to greater rates of genetic gain, partially due to breeding in higher yield environments, and more positive phenotypic plasticity of yield in high‐yielding environments coupled to yield stability in excessively moist environments.

Kakao merupakan salah satu komoditas andalan di Indonesia. Pengolahan kakao menjadi cokelat merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah kakao. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh asal biji kakao dan lama conching terhadap karakteristik sensori cokelat hitam. Cokelat dibuat dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan dua faktor yaitu asal biji kakao (100% biji kakao fermentasi Jember, 100% biji kakao fermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara, 50% biji kakao fermentasi Jember + 50% biji kakao nonfermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara, dan 50% biji kakao fermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara + 50% biji kakao nonfermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara) dan lama conching (4, 6, dan 8 jam). Analisa sensori dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan panelis terlatih dengan menggunakan metode discrete time intensity. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan dan kekenyalan tertinggi yaitu pada perlakuan 100% biji kakao fermentasi Jember dengan lama conching 8 jam yaitu 12.6 dan 11.9 pada detik ke-30, kekompakan tertinggi yaitu pada perlakuan 50% biji kakao fermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara + 50% biji kakao nonfermentasi Sulawesi Tenggara dengan lama conching 8 jam yaitu 12.4 pada detik ke-30 dan kelengketan yang tertinggi yaitu pada perlakuan 100% biji kakao fermentasi Jember dengan lama conching 4 jam yaitu 5.9 pada detik ke 120
