2001
Talevski, T. (Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
In this paper are presented the length and weight growth of carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) from artificial lake Slatino (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). Artificial lake Slatino because some recontruction works was whole emplied in 1993. Than all fish population was leaved in the river Mramorechka. Artificial lake Slatino has been stocking with individuals of carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) catch from Lake Ohrid. They are used for reproduction and in first years were used for reparation of the fish fond in artificial lake.

In this paper a part of results of the wastewater quality control from the Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac", water from the rivers Danube and Mlava, and groudwaters near by (Serbia, Yugoslavia), is considered. In order to protect environment from the effects of hurtful substances make during working process of Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac" is especially does using solid fuel (coal), the Institute of Public Health of Serbia following an approved program checks upon the quality of groundwaters, water the rivers Danube and Mlava including the wastewater from the Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac", four times a year. The results of our research point out to the hurtful effects of the wastewater from Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac" on the groundwater.

Sciban, M. | Klasnja, M. (Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Tehnoloski fakultet)
Sawdusts of hardwood - oak and black locust, modified with formaldehyde and/or alkali solution, were used as adsorbents zinc ions from model water. The influence of concentration of alkali solution for modification, on zinc ions adsorption efficiency were investigated. Batch adsorption tests were conducted on ambient temperature. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm equations were determinated for some adsorbents investigated. Good improvement of adsorption characteristics is achieved by modification of sawdust with alkali. Modification of sawdusts only with formaldehyde results with good prevention of leaching of organic substances as well as poor increase of adsorption efficiency.

Tibru, I. | Nichita, I. | Savescu, E. | Mircov, V.D. (Facultatea de Medicina Veterinara, Timisoara (Romania))
The surface water quality preservation is dependent on the used technology of wastewater purification, waters that are thrown in natural streams and on the used methods for the purification efficiency evaluation. The field microbiological test (FMT) is made of a concentrated culture medium that allows the evidencing of enterobacteria below values of 100/cubic cm, therefore it was used for sanitary ranking of treated wastewaters at the sewage treatment plant of Timisoara (Romania). We noted a 100% correlation between FMT and the official coliform bacteria test.

Teodorovic, I. (Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Institut za biologiju) | Djukic, N. | Dalmacija, B. | Maletin, S. | Miljanovic, B. | Bokorov, M.
To evaluate precision and reliability of recently introduced Metal Pollution Index as a method for metal pollution monitoring of surface waters, a series of toxicity tests with Daphnia magna have been undertaken. The sampling sites (the River Danube wetlands and Hydrosystem DTD (Danube - Tisza - Danube), Serbia, Yugoslavia) for this study have been chosen according to previously recorded high MPI values. Chemical characterization and WET (whole effluent toxicity) testing of selected waste waters at the chosen sampling sites, and the recipient water toxicity testing upstream and downstream the discharger evaluated the validity of MPI, and, on the other hand, discriminated the effects of background pollution. The results of acute and chronic toxicity tests of water and sediment corresponded well with MPI values, which leads to a conclusion that MPI could be regarded as a reliable and precise method for metal pollution monitoring of surface waters.

Marjanovic, Z. | Damjanovic, M. (Institut za vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
This paper is an abstract of the operative program for water protection in the Republic of Serbia (Yugoslavia) for the next five-year period of time. There is a short review on the present water protection status, particularly status of wastewater treatment plants. It includes layouts of water protection solutions in different fields, by priorities, as well as assessment of necessary capital investments for their implementation.

Momic, T. | Banjac, A. | Horvat, A. (Institut za nuklearna istrazivanja Vinca, Beograd (Yugoslavia). Laboratorija za molekularnu biologiju)
Possibilities of application of transmembrane enzymes as a biological component of a biosensor for water quality control and detection of toxical substances were performed. Synaptic plasma membranes (SPMs) were adsorbed on nitrocellulose filters. The adsorption of SPMs was followed by determination of the transmembrane enzyme Na,K-ATPase. The optimal conditions for SPM adsorption on nitrocellulose filters were determined: 25 microgram per nitrocellulose filter disc during 1 hour of incubation, on - 20 deg C. The ATPase activity of adsorbed SPM showed, that almost 30% of enzymic activity was detected on nitrocellulose filters in mentioned conditions. This results showed that adsorption of SPM on solid support enhancing enzymatic stability and enable its industrial and analytical application.

Maljevic, E. | Djurkovic, A. | Cadjo, S. (Republicki hidrometeoroloski zavod Srbije, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
The paper provides a report on the quality of water of the Kolubara river and its tributaries, the Ljig and the Pestan, for the period 1992-1996, on the basis of results obtained in the course of regular examinations carried out by the Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (Yugoslavia). The examination of the waters of the Kolubara river region is significant in view of the vinicity of developed industry, since the wastewater of such an industry represents a potential pollutant of the adjacent rivers. The paper also provides a separate review of the heavy metals contents of the examined rivers. The obtained results indicate to periodical deviations of the water from the required quality, that represents, without any doubt, the pollution of anthropogenic origin.

Popovic, M. | Janac, M. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Yugoslavia))
Thermal stratification is regularly found in deep lakes, while shallow water bodies remain usually mixed. Despite comparative shallowness, Sava lake (artificial lake), Serbia (Yugoslavia) exibit a prolonged summer stable stratification. Temperature differences between epilimnion and hypolimnion can reach 10 deg C. The steep gradients of up to 3.5 deg C/meter recorded in the metalimnion. The highest differences during a single typical summer day was 1.7 deg C between 0.2 and 0.5 m. Maximum annual thermal accumulation was 112440 J/square cm in 1996.

Bugarski, R. | Berkovic, M. (Republicki hidrometeoroloski zavod Republike Srbije, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
Drainage of industrial and communal effluents, directly into the water flow, as many hydrotechnical activities, significantly influence the schedule and balance of the processes that take place into water. In this paper, there are represented the results of systematic control of the water quality of the Danube river and DTD (Danube-Tisza-Danube) channel on the parts Vrbas-Bezdan and Becej-Bogojevo, at the control station network of the Republic Weather Bureau (the Republic of Serbia), for the period of 1991-1996. The results show that the most adverse influence of anthropogenic factor is on the part of the flow of the DTD (Danube-Tisza-Danube) channel from Vrbas to the flow into Tisza river.
