Cyfluthrin provided the best protection of leaves from the damage of chewing insects. Although the other insecticides significantly reduced insect damage, they were inferior to methyomyl. Insecticide-treated plants gave higher quality index and crop value except in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, where crop value was not significantly among treatments. Combined analysis of the effectiveness of the insecticides for the control of budworms and katydid on tobacco revealed the following decreasing order of efficacy: cyfluthrin methomyl azynphos-ethyl, phasalone diazinon
