Embryo transfer techniques with cattle are oulined, which involve superovulation, preservation of embryos usually by freezing and transfer of embryos to recipients. The potential uses are: introduction of new genotypes, continuous selection programmes, production of twins, determining the sex of embryos, cloning and preservation of rare genotypes.
