Effect of the addition of vitamin E and selenium on the occurrence and duration of clinical symptoms of mastitis

The conclusion drawn from the obtained results shows that deficiency of vitamin E and selenium in cows increases the frequency of mastitis caused by microorganisms from the environment. Under the influence of addition of vitamin E the occurrence of clinical mastitis was reduced by 37% and disease duration by 44%. Under the influence of the combination of vitamin E and selenium duration of mastitis clinical symptoms was shortened by 62%. It is considered that deficiency of vitamin E increases the frequency of clinical mastitis and selenium dificiency is manifested in longer duration of clinical symptoms.
