Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and zinc fertilization on the economics of rice production

A replicated experiment using a 5 x 5 x 5 second-order rotatable design with N, P and Zn fertilizer variables was conducted on black soil (vertisol) during the dry season of 1980 with three rice varieties, 'Rasi', 'Jaya' and 'Mahsuri'. Only N and P showed significant response for all the varieties. The significant components, N, N2, P and P2 were used to fit quadratic production equations and also to calculate isoquants, isoclines and economic optima for the three varieties. Yield isoquants revealed that there were m1442any combinations of rates of nutrients that would result in a specific yield.
