Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and zinc fertilization on the economics of rice production

A replicated experiment using a 5 x 5 x 5 second-order rotatable design with N, P and Zn fertilizer variables was conducted on black soil (vertisol) during the dry season of 1980 with three rice varieties, 'Rasi', 'Jaya' and 'Mahsuri'. Only N and P showed significant response for all the varieties. The significant components, N, N2, P and P2 were used to fit quadratic production equations and also to calculate isoquants, isoclines and economic optima for the three varieties.
