This paper describes a study on the chromosomal localization of structural gene (s) coding for alpha-amylase inhibitor in rye with the use of a direct and very sensitive technique - immunoblotting carried out after isoelectric focusing. Wheat-rye addition lines were used for the gene chromosomal localization. Structural gene (s) coding for alpha-amylase inhibitor were localized on chromosome 2, confirming earlier results obtained by indirect techniques. The present results illustrate the usefulness of immunoblotting in genetic studies dealing with non-enzymic proteins
