Effect of number of plants per hill and time of first irrigation on yield and yield components of Giza 75 cotton variety [Egypt]

Two field experiments were performed at Bahtim Agric. Res. Sta. during 1987 seasons to study the effect of number of plants per hill after thinning (2, 3 and 4) as well as time of first irrigation (21, 28, 35 and 42 days) after sowing irrigation. The results indicated that the highest seed cotton yield was obtained by thinning to three plants per hill, due to increased population density. With four plants per hill, seed cotton yield per faddan was reduced, due to reduction in number of open bolls per plant.
