Productive and economical efficiency and optimization of nitrogen fertilization of winter wheat and potatoes as influenced by irrigation
1991
Jankowiak, S.
The experimental design included two factors: irrigation (when soil moisture decreased below 65-70 percent of field capacity, and the control treatment with a natural moisture content) and nitrogen fertilization (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 kg/ha). Irrigation resulted in a yield increase of winter wheat by 0.43 t/ha for grain, and by 0.64 t/ha for straw, and by 5.6 t/ha of potatoes. The yields and yield increments increased also under rising doses of nitrogen fertilization. Irrigation decreased but fertilization increased the nitrogen content of dry matter of both crops. However, the uptake of nitrogen in the watered treatments was generally higher than that in the treatments without watering
